underlug Posted October 10, 2010 Share Posted October 10, 2010 Ok, I'm going old school. Rat Patrol BaBa Blacksheep Combat I just ordered the complete rat patrol series. 22 episodes. Old, old school. "Peter Gunn". The music is like an additional character in the shows along with Alfred Hitchcock/Mann photography (want to know where Miami Vice came from?). The characters are richly and broadly drawn. The hero is Rockford like flawed and doing the best Cary Grant you have ever seen. Did I mention the music? I've never seen any of the new series, (band of brothers, sons of anarchy). A friend gave me 'Dexter' on dvd. I suffered through 2 shows and couldnt stay awake through any more of them. My favorite TV series of all time has been The Shield on FX. I also began watching "V" (the new series) on ABC. Sadly, Season 1 didn't get the favorable ratings that ABC was hoping for and this show may be short lived. ABC has already postponed the launch of Season 2 until January 4, 2011 (scheduled originally for November 2010) and cut the number of episodes ordered from 13 to 10. It's a five disk set with the last disk being some "Making Of" and documentary type shorts. I just finished it this weekend - I had forgotten how good it was. The documentary also reminded me that America virtually ground to a halt when it first aired - restaurants and theaters were almost empty while it was on.
