J-Hon
Another thought regarding the mag capacity issue..... Since this is a TS framed gun, could you not convert it to take '75 series magazines with a Shadow mag release and thicker grip panels? That would give you 23/24 via 140, and 28/29/30ish with the 170 big sticks that CZ sells from the factory. Edited August 4, 2010 by J-Hon
grywlfbg
Thanks for hanging out in the thread Matt. Do you know by chance what weight recoil spring is standard? I'm going to be running minor loads for 3-gun so I'm planning to buy a few different spring weights to try and tune the gun and load to shoot flat w/ minor loads. Thanks! J-Hon
Can anyone confirm/deny that these are the regular TS 9mm mags that come with this kit? Including the big stick? If so..... there might not be extensions available. I have 9mm TS mags and even with the extended baseplates there are ridges in the mags that prevent extra rounds from being shoved in. Walküre
Can anyone confirm/deny that these are the regular TS 9mm mags that come with this kit? Including the big stick? Well, as there isn't a pre-existing big stick that fits the TS frame, it will at least be new/different. What actually prevents the 9mm TS mags from being extended? As in, where are the ridges and how do they prevent follower/ammo travel? I've never had a 9mm TS mag apart, and nothing externally ever seemed indicative of ridges that restrict movement of the follower below its "normal" resting point... Everybody always just says "it doesn't work". But is it something that really could, in fact, be overcome with a little light modding? Walküre
i'm scared to see the price... maybe one day... Oh now, what is one little old kidney??? The thing that gets me is that if I bought one, I'd be paying for some stuff I know I'll never use (barrel nut + rear sight) and some stuff that I'll probably never use (the TWO extra barrels). Ditch those, drop the price accordingly, and I'd put in a call to order one right away. As it stands, I'm holding off at the moment.

Everybody always just says "it doesn't work". But is it something that really could, in fact, be overcome with a little light modding? The problem w/ 9mm TS mags w/ basepads is that the ridges on the side of the mag for the smaller 9mm rounds (the .40 mags are straight-walled) don't extend far enough down. So if you stuff too many rounds in it and the follower drops below the ridges it can tilt sideways and rounds can roll off and you're going to have a bad day. In the case of the czechmate big stick we could run into the same problem w/ a grams kit - if the new follower and basepad allows you to stuff enough shells so it drops below the ridges..... One way to fix it would be to take 2 regular 9mm TS mags and weld them together so the ridges extend the whole way. This was my plan to make a big stick as I was contemplating building my own Open TS. Edited August 5, 2010 by grywlfbg

LeoHallak
Its pretty much the way everyone used to do P9 and Caspian big stick. We will see what we can do Matt. Leo

This is actually what I had always expected as the real problem with trying to extend the 9mm mags - but everything I have always seen written on the subject was to the effect of "there are ribs that get in the way [of extending the mag]" while it's actually a case of the *lack* of ribs leading to issues. The way people had reported the issue in the past made it sound like there was something physically blocking the follower from going below the normal "full" position (which would be past the aligning ribs). Hubert NOWAK
Hi Everyone, In France is very difficult to buy a pistol with more that one barrel, so I have bought the standard CZ TS and have done by one friend pistol specialist the full transformation with the original parts from CZ factory. The quality of my pictures is not the best , but you can see the result. It is fantastic gun. Hubert
grywlfbg
Just a quick update. Had mine in my hot little hands and it looks and handles sweet (at least around my house). Cutting the dust cover helped offset the added weight of the comp. I didn't want to even begin to learn any bad habits with the stock c-more mount so I immediately dropped it off at my gunsmith to have a quinn II mount installed. Of course the screw holes don't quite line up so he may have to do some welding. He's committed to have it to me by end of Sept. I've worked up some (minor) loads w/ 3N38 and MG 115gr bullets. Looking forward to experimenting.

grywlfbg
Hey everyone. Finally got everything sorted out w/ installing my Quinn II mount. The CMore is sitting just to the left of center so I'm going to work w/ my gunsmith to add a small shim to push it to the right a bit. Otherwise it's great. Pics attached. In case anyone is interested here is some info about magazines. So, there is two variants of Czechmate package: One with thick internal grip offsets that go inside of the frame. With those grips gun takes regular CZ Shadow 9mm magazines One without internal offsets. This variant takes regular CZ TS 9mm magazines (the ones that came with the recent CZ TS 9mm wide frame guns)
