Dry Fire

I have an HK USP compact. Is it ok to dry fire it, or do I need to use snap caps?

There will probably be some disagreement on this subject. But my thoughts are that you can't go wrong with some snap caps.

I would use the snap caps..It's cheap insurance. For example, I also have 2 M&P's both with the older strikers that are known to break if you dry fire alot without snap caps..I've been using snap caps, probably a couple thousand dryfires, and guess what? No broken strikers,This alone really sold me on them. I also use them in my P-2000, like I said, it's cheap insurance.

I've got an early HK USP in 9mm that's been dry fired for years and years (probably 6 digit dry-firings?) with no problem. Snap caps aren't bad things to own though, and if you're worried about it, snap caps can't hurt.

Just few words of warning. Older uspc may have older firing pin that has since been changed to address some structural weakness, which may break with repeated dry firing.
