AzShooter
I experiment a lot. Mostly I've been using Billy Bullet 160 grain and 170 grains. They seem well ballance and group well. I've also started casting my own from a LBT mold that casts 180 grains. It's the most accuarate bullet to date. I now want to try to go the other way and play with 125 grain bullets. Running them at just over 1000 ft, or even up to 1100 ft I think they should produce a good load and help keep the sight on track between shots. What experiences have others come up with when chnging to a lighter bullet? Is the gun easier to control? Are follow up shots faster? How is the accuracy? twodownzero
It will be snappier and you will shoot slower, I'd bet.
buckaroo45
I shoot Missouri Bullet 125's at about 1000 fps in my 627 for steel plates and like it. Like he said, a little snappy but not enough to stop me using them. If I shot it in USPSA I suspect the second shot would be problematic. Then again I don't have real good hands anymore so second shots with anything is a rodeo for me. ____________________________________________________________________________________ "Changing over to shooting revolver is the natural evolution of things, like learning to walk upright." Service Desk
In .38 Special I like the RCBS 124CN bullet over 4.4 grains of WST. Accuracy is excellent in my PPC revolvers - just one ragged hole at 25 yards. There is a bit more recoil into the hand, kinda short and sharp but muzzle rise is minimal. I find I can get back onto the sights a lot quicker. YMMV
Modoc
The wife and I are using 125gr FP from Lazer cast pushed by 4.0gr of Unique in a 38 Spl case for our Cowboy loads. It is defenitely easier to control than the 158gr, but we are only running about 7xx a second out of 4-5/8" Rugers.
scottyinAZ
I have used 125's a lot. they dont group well at 25 and further. there ok for steel stuff, but dont knock down the poppers very well. they have more muzzle flip than the heavy bullets, with power factor being the same between the loads. 170's dont group well out of my 627-4, the 135's seem to work best overall for me.
