STI Apeiro not precise?

A friend of mine just got the STI Apeiro, and tested it at our local shooting range.

Had a nice feel to it, and he just shot about 20 rounds at the target 25 Yards away, not being especially precise.

The hits were in a group of maybe 10-15 inches, so he tried to be more precise.

And again.

And again.

And it got worse every time.

In the end we both tried shooting from a rest at about 10 yards, and three shots would be hitting totally different places, maybe 25 inches apart.

I could be more precise throwing darts.

So - have anybody ever tried anything like this?

Must be some sort of error in manufacturing, or?

Please tell me that you took the same ammo and shot it with good results in another STI.

I'd send the gun back along with the two targets.

It goes back to what I've been saying on this forum....did anybody bother to test fire the gun at STI?

Ciao.

Thank you for your responses.

Unfortunately we didn't have another STI to check with, but we did check the ammo in other guns.

The sights were also my first thought, but they were rock solid, so nothing there.

We live in europe, so a return of the gun to factory will be cumbersome and time consuming, but it seems it will be the only way forward.

I did ask my friend if there was a test target included with the gun, as we have seen with other guns, were the guns have been tested, but he didn't get any from STI.

The STI topmodels have allways been my "dream guns" but after this experience I don't know anymore.

Can't tell from a quick read whether you're shooting these groups with reloads or factory. If you haven't tried factory and you've ruled out the sights, I'd get at least a couple of different brands of factory ammo off the shelf and shoot it in the same manner as before. That way you can rule out that variable.

Good quality factory ammo - bench rest it to try to eliminate the operator error. Should be a great shooter - havent heard of any problems with them regarding accuracy
