Garrett
I just bought a used full-sized USP in .40 caliber and I need to find some more mags for it. I see on CDNN's website that they have 13 round mags for the full-sized gun here. Or they list a full-sized 16-round mag as shown here. The CDNN states that this mag "requires Jet Funnel Kit". Being new to HKs, what is the Jet Funnel Kit? What does it do, and why is it necessary for the bigger mag? Is the Jet Funnel just a factory magwell, and the mag just sticks out the bottom if you don't have it installed? Or is it required for some reason for this mag to work? And for that matter, does anyone make a 140 mm basepad for the USP40 mags? And where is the best place to buy mags?
h2osport
It should read that the jetfunnel requires the use of the 16 round mag. The jetfunnel is HK's factory magwel. The regular 13 round mags will not seat in the gun with the jetfunnel on. The 16 rounders will just stick out a little without the jetfunnel. caz41
Yup that is exactly it. I can post pictures of mine to clarify if you would like.
Garrett
That's kind of what I was thinking. Thanks! Anyone know of a 140mm basepad for these?
Sabot
Haven't seen any base pads, but would be interested if anyone has.
Cosmik de Bris
Haven't seen any base pads, but would be interested if anyone has. I think I remember reading on HKPRO that the Arrendondo base pads for a Glock can be made to fit. I think he was using +3, I don't think the +4 fit in the box. konkapot
Arredondo's do indeed work great. Entreprise Arms also makes some that worked.....they work ok, but are not super durable. It was some time ago that I was shooting a USP; I believe it was the +2 pads that always worked and weren't too long. I had a +4 from another project; it worked great as a practice mag, but was way way way too long for match use.
ausshooter
I run 40 USP's as my limited gun. The arredondo +2 baseplates for glocks will fit on the 16 round mags, but they require a little coaxing. I have yet to find a good spring for them, and as such am using the 16 round spring that comes with the mag. It works, but they do FTF occasionally. With the arredondo basepads, I can reload to 18 and start with 19 in the magazine. It makes the USP pretty competitive, ammo wise. I love the jet funnel mag well. With the plastic mags the magwell doesn't get marked up at all. I would suggest replacing the varient 1 plate with a 9 so that it is safe/fire only with no decock. Drop in a match trigger kit and you're ready to rock. The mags on the right are the arredondo +4's. They fit and function fine, but they are over 140mm.
