pjb45
I just loaded 5,000 rounds with Wolf primers. Not a problem with the primers. I loaded 800 rounds for SS Nationals using Federal primers and Nickel cases. Not a problem. The only problem I have experience with a primer not going off was due to a case primer hole issue - not a primer issue. Like aircooler, I try to keep everything the same. Don Golembieski was the technical rep for VV. He suggested VV320 and that is all I have ever used. I have no need for anything else. I got a bunch of once fired brass a few years ago, rolled sized and I am still using it. The only thing that changes is the primer. And to honest, I really do not see much difference in all the primers I have used. They work in my production, SS, Limited and open guns just fine. And I have some amazing trigger jobs on these guns. One note: I did install a McLearn extended firing pin in most of my guns. I have access to some surplus federal ammo that had hard hard primers. TonyT
I definitely would not pay $50/M for WSP's. I have used WSP, Rem 1.5, Federal, and Magtech with good results.
djeffers
I started using Wolf primers last year after being unable to get CCIs and needing primers. I compared small pistol primers between the two brands and lost about 40fps with the Wolf primers - exact same loads - on a major .40 load for my P16. Not a big deal, just be aware that you'll need to adjust your powder charge. Like mentioned elsewhere in this topic, I do find that the Wolf's seat easier than CCIs or Federals. Differences in temp? CocoBolo
Capitalism supply and demand driving prices. Your dealer should wear a mask. The average dealer cost per 1000 is $22.00 currently for WSPP, if they are a small dealer. But I have used Federal, Winchester, MagTech, and CCI in my limited, open, and production gun they all go bang reliably. I'm with you on the Wolf Primers, Not even thinking about using them until I can't find anything else. At the Gator two years ago a guy was using Wolf after a few didn't go bang he bought some ammo from one of the other shooters. Ok for practice maybe, then if they prove out you could use them in match ammo.
