Hey Guys, I have about 5k 9x19 rounds I want to load up using the following components. 5k 124g. Speer Gold Dots 5k Starline new brass 5k CCI 550 (Small pistol magnum) primers I am looking to duplicate the 124gr. +P factory load I get out of my stock G19. which run about 1225 FPS. I am looking for a powder and/or load recommendation that will get me to 1225 fps with minimum flash/muzzle blast. I have been handloading for about 30 years so understand the concept of start low and work up. Thank You in advance for your assistance.
So recently I purchased some HST pulled bullets and decided to have a quick stab at getting a practice load figured out to match the factory load. Here's what I came up with. Temperature 45 degrees fahrenheit 124g HST bullet, Titegroup powder, CCI 500 SPP, 1.100" COAL, 3" barrel Sig P938 3.8g Err, 970, 971, 977, 960, 974, 959 4.0g 1005, 998, 987, 998, 1009, 995, 1001 4.3g 1028, 1059, 1059, 1061, 1064, 1058, 1062 Very happy with the results of 4.3g and just barely started to get some primer flattening. 4.3g is listed as max load with a COAL of 1.120" in my Nosler book. DO NOT TRY THIS WITHOUT CAREFULLY WATCHING FOR PRESSURE SIGNS!!!!! START AT 3.8G OF TITEGROUP AND WORK YOUR WAY UP PLEASE!!!!!
My police department uses Federal 180 grain HST ammo for duty carry. We carry the Glock model 22 (.40 s&w). I have carried the same group of rounds for just over 3 years. I noted some of the rounds looked a little short today. I measured the OAL and found them to vary between 1.125 (normal) to 1.088 (WAY TOO SHORT!). Federal stated the velocity to be 1010 fps, making these a pf of 181.8! What is your professional opinion on this? I obviously have some concern.
