Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. At 25 rounds the rounds are not near the panel transition at the bottom of the magazine. Please send the magazine in to the factory and we will investigate the issue and repair or replace at no charge. Infinity Firearms 3435 Roy Orr Blvd, Suite 200 Grand Prairie, TX 75050 800-928-1911 972-513-1911 972-513-0575 (fax)
  2. For our aluminum follower we suggest using our spring as well to insure a proper fit and lock between the components. At the factory we install a small kink outward on the top locking coil to offer a very positive lock between the follower and spring. If the follower can pivot left or right on the spring a round can get underneath the but this is the nature of the beast with a shorter follower skirt. We focus on reliability as a key factor in design. We chose the aluminum material to thin the cross section between the follower and the spring without compromising strength. Until we push forward with a new magazine design for further capacity this will be an intermediate step which puts 21+1 in our 40-140mm magazines reliably.
  3. For the Money the EMP is a nice pistol...Overall fit and finish is what you would expect for the price. The execution and thought of redesigning the traditional 1911 components is done well. In my hand now is a sti ViP...abortion of epic proportions.. fit and finish is what you would expect from $500.00 pistol. trigger pull over 4.5lbs, MIM compents throughout, polymer grip that is .200 shorter then a govt length (not a true officers length) A belt sander to the bottom of the grip is a nice way to get their quickly without redesigning components. After all its about dollars. Overall not a well thought out design or execution. Bucket O Parts Thrown together...Best part is where they did fit components they were nice enough to leave file marks on the finished surface OVERALL A HORRIBLE COMPARISON
  4. Trijicon RMR is not another puppy peeing on the same ole fire hydrant. Upside of RMR The RMR is a great sight...the innovation and quality of the sight greatly exceeds its competition. Indoors or Outdoors the Dual Illumination sight is very bright. It is offered in a variety of MOA depending on the purpose. Lifetime warranty and great customer service from Trijicon. Downside of RMR Its dimensions and mounting is proprietary to Trijicon. Doctor and Jpoint mounts will not work with the sight. The sight is nearly 1.25in wide. Most 1911 slides are .920 in width. The overhang on the sides of the slide is cosmetically unappealing on a std 1911 slide To accommodate the width of the sight we made a custom 1.25in wide slide and undercut the rear serrations to allow for thumb clearance and thumb safety function.
  5. To shed some light on the issues at hand. The key to grip failures in the key way tolerance of the frame and grip. The key ways on the sti frame are horribly oversized from the original design. (sti frames I have measured to be .644 or more) The original design was .637-.638 with the grip keys in a .636-.638. We used a moly grease when installing the grips to assist in the tight interference fit necessary for the modular grip frame design. When the keys are loose the frame rotates around the keys loading the front of the grip. The grip will not withstand this load and cracks in the thin cross section as you see in the photo. The polymer grips often did not hold this load either and cracked in a similar fashion. We have pin pointed the issue, increased the cross section width and now offer a grip with larger keys to correct the poorly held tolerance of the sti frame. Rick Dirt Diver had two early sv grips which failed due to the loose tolerance of the keys. Rick Dirt Diver can supply feedback over the long term on the grips being cut to fit the oversized keys. We have seen it correct the issue on several sti frames.
  6. Wow G-Man you sure do know a lot about SV....Where do you get this information? 6in The sight radius is a plus for most all shooters. Finding the best overall balance in a 6in is the key to sight recovery. The balance of the pistol with a 6in hybrid barrel is not ideal. Have the numbers to prove it. Some muzzle weight is good but to much can give some extra bounce and natural balance in your hand is lost. In testing with several team shooters we have found the 6in to perform best with a 6in bushing barrel. The major key to a 6in pistol the slide velocity doesn't matter near as much as sight recovery. You can only shoot as fast as the sights recover. The stereotype of a 6in pistol is to shoot a lighter bullet for the best performance. I would suggest trying the heavier projectile (200gr) in a 6in as well. The proof is in the time. 5in Sight Tracker Tested and Proven to perform very well. The hybrid barrel allows for more static muzzle weight and to effectively reduce the slide mass without changing the structural integrity of the slide. Again muzzle weight is great but there is a fine line of to much. From a design stand point some of the best shooting limited pistols I have found to be with a standard dustcover, hybrid barrel, stainless guide rod, steel or stainless grip, magwell, and mainspring housing. (Julien can give some insight here) Bringing the weight to your hands offers a great balance and sight recovery. Overall what works well for Shooter A may not be ideal for Shooter B. There will always be a personal preference. In a perfect world everyone's muscle structure, grip, and form would be perfect. Keep pushing the envelope of performance and back up your data with numbers.
  7. Does it pull up tight on the frame of the pistol? And HOW?
  8. Coming from a design stand point.....The 45 170mm is not designed for capactiy but rather reliability....If you look at the follower it has a long base.....In competition followers there is no base. This allows the spring and follower to collapse further creating more capacity. What game are you playing that you need a .45 170??? Its nice to see someone makes something for even the oddest of cats...
  9. DLC is the way to go....IonBond doesn't offer a new coating called Titanium DLC but it looks great and offers great wear protection. Hard Chrome= Nitrogen Imbrittlement=cracking and premature failure.....Check with someone with a metallurgy degreee....Hard Chrome is for the bumber on my 73 Caddy not my gun
  10. Not a big fan of the grams kit....he capitalizes on it because every time you need a new spring you need a new follower to? Poor delivery times as well....
  11. Sounds like some good folks to deal with.....Lets get things straight...They copy the SV/STI Grip and Frame design....Bring Products in to the US Illegally.....Lie about the magazine capacity.....whats next....
  12. You must be high strung sharon....Angry women end up on Cops chasing their husbands out of the trailer....and scarier yet you have a gun...wow
