Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. The Bear Creek bullets are moly coated. Attached is a copy of thier process sheet / sales pitch page. BC_02_08a.pdf
  2. Bear Creek is still in the game. I ordered 3k 9mm from them yesterday. They no longer have a website and are not very e-mail savvy. It's best to call them. 209.874.4322 Latest price list (hopefully) attached. BC_02_08.pdf
  3. Thanks all for the tips and ideas! I still intend to size and re-prime with the Dillon. Just looking to clean things up a bit. I'm leaning towards an el-cheapo Lee with a universal de-cap die to abuse. For now, I'm only reloading small pistol. ATB Kelly
  4. I'm still pretty new to reloading. I've run 3k pistol rounds thru my 550. I'm considering decapping cases as a seperate operation. I don't like cleaning up all the spent primer crap from all over my shiny blue press every couple hundred rounds. Does anyone else do this? Equipment recommendations? Thanks!
  5. I've used Precision's 185 and Bear Creek's 180's. Either shoot great IDPA over HP-38 out of my M&P. For comp, I load to 130PF. Not sure how they would hold up to a Major load. I use them in 9mm too. Good stuff!
  6. I'm a newb to reloading and recently had my 1st 'incident'. I was merrily chrono'ing along at about 820 fps when BANG! 1310! Obviously a double charge. My M&P40 survived with no issues but the Jockey's I was wearing that day will never be the same. I've since rigged a small mirror up on my 550 and every load now gets a visual.
  7. Having never re-loaded, I too ordered the video. When it arrived, I realized I no longer had a VHS player...... I carefully read all the instructions a couple times and then assembled the press. The instruction manual is actually pretty good. I've had no troubles or issues. There are also some great tips in the reloading section on this forum.
  8. Thanks! I weighed and measured as you recommended and the bullets were surpirisingly consistent. I'm planning to to start with 3.8 gr of 231 and OAL of 1.13 and go from there.
  9. A friend gave me a couple boxes. He got them from the estate of a deceased uncle. He didn't have any information about them. I searched but could find no info on this company. I'm thinking of loading some up for practice only. I have no idea of how old they might be. The wax rings are still in great shape. Has anyone here used these?
  10. New to reloading. Just got a 550 with all bells and whistles for two calibers thru Brian. Incredible service!!! I still manage to shoot more than I can load, will probably be back for a 1050 at some point!! Any tips on selling the 1050 idea to my bride?? ;-)
  11. If you were in Texas or California, you could go to the local 7-11 and hire a couple of illegal alien day laborers. $2/hr and a case of Miller Lite would get the whole job done! But seriously, as others have mentioned, a comfortable chair and a few 5 gallon buckets are ultimately the way to go. (Disclaimer: No illegal aliens or animals were harmed during the making of this reply)
  12. I'm 95% certain that it's the smaller bar that came loaded on the machine. It's much thinner than the other one shipped. Per the manual's schematic, I believe it's the right one. I'll sure find out when I attempt my 1st powder dump!!!
  13. A case needs to be there for a Dillon to cycle the measure. You are ready to load.-------Larry Thank you and good morning!
  14. I've got all the dies set in my shiny new 550 and producing nice dummies! I'm now getting ready to set up the powder measure. Before having to perform a cleanup on aisle 6, when the handle is pulled, will powder still drop even though a case is not present? I ask in that if I have to prime a case prior to indexing to station 2, will I get a dump on my shellplate? Thanks for any tips and apologies for the newb question (there will undoubtedly be more )
  15. I really appreciate all the welcomes, tips, and links. I can foresee many hours spent surfing here!
