  1. "Hmmmm.... lets see, no I don't think having an inept, arrogant driver who can't find reverse operating a 2,500 pound 400 plus horsepower vehicle during a burnout on a crowded residential street is quite stupid enough. What can we do to make it even more dangerous???? Oh yeah, lets wait until the pavement is wet enough that the 73 Pinto she normally drives would be be able to light 'em up for half a block. Yeah, that ought to insure that something ugly happens. "
  2. Wait till you're over 45. It means something much worse then. "Now just relax....."
  3. Well, while I don't think you will ever convert me to Glockism we do both shot CZs. My limited gun is a .40 TS.
  4. Well, all is well with the world again. Went out to the range today with the missus and shot about 300 rounds mainly with the 686. Shot the plate racks and set up a short COF. I realized the while I still need a lot of work I am not a hopeless case, that more and more, I really like shooting revo even with a 4" 686 (how many times did I look at that 625??), and that I have an amazing wife who sat through the thunderstorm with me that came halfway through our practice and waited for it to pass rather than say "lets go home". Competetive shooting is not an easy thing. requires total concentration, and couldn't care less about your excuses, and that is why I love this sport. Thanks for the support during a tough day.
  5. Everytime I wear a glove (yes it does cut down on thumb burns on long stages) I find myself irresistably compelled to moonwalk between target arrays.
  6. I had one of those absolutely ugly days that make me just want to toss in the towel and take up underwater basketweaving. I know it is just one of those days, and will pass but DANG! Steel match today so I figured I would shoot our 9mm 1911. The wife usually uses it but I was low on .40 ammo and figured what the heck. Get out there and my vision starts giving me fits. (diabetic retinopathy, floaters and plain lousy vision... some days I can see the sights okay, some days not). I spend my pre-match time trying to decide if I want to shoot with my non-dominant eye as it is able to focus more than the dom eye. Decide to stick with my dominant. Go to the first stage and FTF on my second run. Allright.... Second stage six FTFs. Mind you the gun normall runs like a champ. Go to the safe area and clean and lube the feedramp. Stage three my vision goes to crap. Comes back though for the last run. Stage 4 I start to shoot way, way too fast and start missing 18 X 24s that I could hit if I threw the gun at them, and oh yeah, more FTFs. 5 and 6 were combinations of the above capped off with thinking I hit the stop plate on my last run and cleared the weapon when someone let me know I had missed it. Get home and check out the results..... Surprise of surprises I am last. Dead freaking last. Mind you I am not that good of a shooter on my best days and don't even think that I will ever win a local match but when I think of how much time, money and effort I put into the sport days like today just frost me. GGGggrrrrrrrrrr...... Sorry for the vent-a-thon. I'm sure by later today all the reasons I love this sport will come back to me.
  7. Well, there is always Angus's CTS. Also Matt Mink does it a little differently by removing more weight from the slide and less from the frame.
  8. Yeah, no problems here. They both shoot far better than I ever will. For me in the end one of the main reasons I chose the CZ is I like the asthetics more, which is certainly a personal taste. Both are great platforms for a fumbling C classer like me. :-) Shameless selfpromotion of nice looking gun.
  9. But why get a copy when you aleady have the origional? Just kiddin'!
  10. I think most folks are using a 12 lb recoil spring. The stocker tends to slam back into battery with a little too much vim and vigor causing the nose to dip. Yeah, smooth reloads are a bit tough. Gotta pay attention. Here is a photo of the nose of my TS. (I know, its dirty) I used to worry about the way it looks like the barrel just lays around there in the slide but then I decided that since it is one of the most accurate guns I have ever owned maybe all barrels should fit like this and I can go off and be compulsive about something else......
  11. I blended the relieved the inside of my magwell so that the mag extensions would fit. Take a little bit off at a time until an empty mag inserts fully and actually rattles around a bit. Doesn/t take too long at all. As far as the nose dives I had that problem with one batch of ammo that had s slightly shorter OAL than it should have. I normally have my OAL at 1.165 and other than the one "oops" batch have never had a failure to feed. Its a dang fine gun.... hang in there!!
  12. I shot one that Angus had built and was very impressed. The SA pull was maybe 2 pounds and very, very nice. Low recoil and nice grip angle. I would highly recommend this as a production gun if you don't mind the difference in the first DA pull and the followups which are SA. The 75B is darn nice but not production legal as I understand it, due to its SA only trigger. As far as the Tactical Sport goes I own one in .40 that Angus has worked on and it so ridiculously good that I am surprised that CZ hasn't banned my poor shooting butt from using such a nice gun. Now of course you will be shooting in Limited but I will guarantee you that you will not be outgunned by any of the S_Is.
  13. Here is how it worked out for me. I too in retrospect made the mistake of having the Mrs. start shooting with my .45. She developed a flinch that was never going to go away with that pistol. I then bought her a 686 and had her shoot .38 bunnyfart rounds. This was the single best thing I ever could have done for her. We would just toss three rounds randomly in the gun and it worked like having snapcaps. Heavy gun with almost no recoil. It is still her favorite gun. I then moved her up to a 9mm 1911 and she is shooting extremely well with that. She is hooked! Of course you couldn't use the 1911 as a production gun, she just shoots the local fun matches now with either the 1911 or her revo.
  14. Well with my CZ TS to lock it all I do is come from under the grip, forearm parallel to the ground as if I am shaking someone's hand and hold the holster with my index finger on the outside of the holster and the pad of my thumb against the pivot area of the lever on the inside. I then just squeeze in and rotate up using the inside of my thumb against the lever. (Sounds a little more complicated than it is in real life). Fantastic holster in my book, but I have never used a CR.
  15. I am having a blast shooting revo of late other than......... my front sight. I shoot an older 686 that I can not change the front sight on and my 52 year old eyes are just struggling to no end. What suggestions can you all afford me that don't involve sending my revo off to a 'smith for a month? The gun is now strictly going to be used for USPSA/Steel Challenge so I had thought of swapping out my 4" barrel for something a little longer that I could put a FO on. The only other choice I see (no pun) is to get the old sight milled off which seems, for some reason, like a less appealing option. Oh, and I have already tried all the cheapie outs like SightBright, fingernail polish, etc. Still just not doing the trick for me I'm afraid. Thanks again for the help/enlightenment.
  16. It is extremely, extremely accurate. I use mine both in limited with the plus 3s and as my steel gun. It is fantastic at both jobs. Unless you have monster hands I would definitely get the aluminum grips. I've been shooting 180s for both loads but am going to try some 165s for the minor load. It is an excellent choice, particullarly at its price point.
  17. Actually the flat side of the shockbuff goes towads the front of the gun. Seems kinda counter-intuitive but that's the way it is supposed to fit.
  18. I wouldn't worry about longterm wear with the 14# spring. Just watch the shock buff to see how its wearing and change them out once they start to look a little worn.
  19. I'll second the request for a couple photos of top ends after you have lubed 'em with SG. "Liberal" is such a subjective term for me. Do I just slop it on a little heavier than I would with oil or do I use a teaspoon and fill the slide up and just clean off what comes out when I cycle the gun? Thanks!
  20. Glad to hear your daughter is okay. I remember when I got my call when my (then) 17 year old got shaken up by a bee in the car and drove off into a ditch. One never likes to be reminded of the mortality of our children. Never. (Edited because I have the basic grammatical skills of a three year old.)
  21. Just a heads up that Angus has been out of the country in South America recently and is still catching up on invoices, email, etc.
  22. For a guy who is trying to claw his way up to B class this thread has been reassuring. I've never had a sense of what being a "B" shooter actually meant. Hell, I never got Cs in school and I didn't apply myself at all like I am with this sport. Thanks for taking a serious bite out of the episodic frustration of being a shooter who hasn't made it up to the Killer Bs!
  23. Another +1 for Danny and AAA, although I only get his .40 ammo for my limited gun. His minor load is great for steel.
  24. If you don't mind a heavier pistol and aren't deadset on the 1911/2011 platform I really like my CZ TS. With magwell, aluminum grips, hammer and action job by Angus was about $1,500. Sweet, sweet trigger at around 1 1/2 pounds, nice recoil and reliable as an anvil. It is a bit heavy and some won't like that as it is slower in transitions. The price point was really attractive to me, particullarly by the time I added in holster, mags, this, that, the other thing.... (This advice from a newer shooter trying to work his way up to C so take the advice for what it is worth!)
  25. Bingo Kondapot! I probably should have posted this over in the beginners area to help explain that I am fairly new to this and my Ghost Holster has what.... four axis to turn on?? I ended up moving three of them and moving the holster forward just a touch on my hip and the difference is immense!! Now it is much simpler to just pivot down at the elbow, get a good grip and pivot right back out of the holster. Now all I need to do is make this part of my dry/live fire practice. Thanks everyone for the input. much appreciated!
