  1. .45-08 brass for 1300-1400 fps with 200gr hard cast in a 1911 That would take pins down !
  2. I know for minor load in 9mm Angus and others use 11lbs, but would it be good for .40? I tryed a 14lbs (Stock is 16lbs) and had MANY stovepipe with the untrimmed spring. Does the 11lbs would be too light for 135pf loads?
  3. I sent both the pic and mesurement.. That exactly it according to Lee as the 2nd round in my pic.
  4. From Lee Precision: Dummy cartridge #2 would be the correct crimp (counting from the left). The two on the right look like the bullet seating die is adjusted too far down, and the case mouth is actually passing through the crimp shoulder, while the one on the far left has no crimp at all.
  5. Well those were minor load, probably 130-140pf (4.2gr Universal Clay, 180gr plated). I have a 14lbs spring in the gun vs the 16lbs factory. The wall thickness in mid height is .416-.417 so getting .420 would be asking for trouble no? Those were just a test, to see what crimp I could be getting with my lee pro 1000. I too find the second round a bit better than the first, and the last one feel really smooth (no edge praticly). But the last to are ROLL crimp, not taper crimp like the first two.
  6. Well found out the hard way that I wasn't really crimping my ammo (new reloader).. Jam after jam after jam... 1 out of 5-7 rounds, stovepipe, double feed, failure to go in battery. How much should I crimp? I just made some test and I wounder which way should I go? I got a CZ75b, Lee pro 1000, 1.135" AOL. I don't want to buy the Factory crimp since I would have to crimp them one by one after. Left is my ammo before, next is rim just taper enought to remove the belling, next to are taper crimper more. Crimp is : .417 .413 .398 .398, wall is .417 thanks
  7. One thing I see, I readjust often my grip, every shot or so..
  8. Well I was shooting .22 from May to July, sold it and bought a CZ75b .40. I have added FO sights and from a rest it's within 1" of POA. I didn't pratice with it much but I took my BB course last week-end (600rnds) and at slow, slow shoot, it was in the A zone, maybe 80% of time. A zone or not, it's wide groups, 6 inch big minimum. at 7-10yrds If I speed up, most shoots are A zone sized but about 8 inch to the 9:00 in the C/D. I was jecking the trigger but even if I use the tip of my finger, remove the overtravel and pull/squeeze until break, I have a hard time hitting a Post-it(2"x2") at 10yrds. I don't have a flinch (tested with snap cap in mags). I need a starting point... I use the grip in the Todd Jarret Grip Video. and at 25yrd, I'm not even on target if I speed up. barelly on 8.5"x11" at slow. Thanks
  9. Well I reload just for the low cost. As long I have fun with the gun, I don't really care about the rest (safety first!). Now that I start IPSC, I just wanted to be sure to get the min. pf for Minor. Going 20pf over is not a concern in my position, I'm not Angus or M. Mink, they probably care a lot more to get stable ammo. As long I'm over 135pf, that the ammo is relatively accurate (I am not really), and it's safe, the rest I don't really care... I loaded both lead and plated 180gr under 4.2gr, CCI primer, 1.135" COL and it was nice. I'll see if at my 1st match there will be a chrony to test it.
  10. Try 4.7 than 4.8, should be safe. Load at 1.135" which is what most factory ammo is loaded for. Going over that in a non 1911 platform is pointless.
  11. Well I don't have access to a chrony and want some minor puff load ready for my 1st IPSC match. Got some 180gr copper plated and lead with a few lbs of Universal Clays. I can do 3.0 3.3 3.6 4.0 4.2 4.4+ grains on my progressive. Anyone have a load? Thanks
