  3. Wow! Very cool! Wish I got service like this at home!!! Thanks, Rob
  4. I have a P14-45 and was about to order a 10 pack of mag springs from Brownells. Now I'll wait and see whats up!! Where can I order ISMI springs from?
  5. At my last match, 1st stage went fine. Second stage had a jam. Third stage 3 of my mags had feeding problems. The bullets were sitting nice and level so they wouldnt feed. A friend of mine said " bend the springs up,,, you should know this" I did know this but first match in 4 years, the learning curve is still there...
  6. Some people have wayyyy to much time on there hands (Can you show me how to make one too??)
  7. Hi there, my idea is,,(1) would be go down to your local range that rents guns. Handle a couple of then. Shoot the one you like the best. Repete the process. Sooner or later you'll find a pistol that shoots and feels good in your hand. (2) When you go to your next match ask everybody about there pistols. If you havent found one yet do (1) and (2) over. It worked for me!!!
  8. Hmmmm.I wanted a new Limited STI, SV or something like that. But I got a float tube instead...... Still OK with me.
  9. Go watch several matches. USPSA and IDPA if you can. Talk to as many people as you can. And bring eye and ear protection!!!!! This is how I got hooked!!
  10. Well, here's an idea if your shooting outside. We have a stake shoot at our fun shoot. Get 5 or 6 2x4 or 4x4 and put about 10 to 12 inches in the ground. Paint a white line on the wood at 4', 5' and 6'. Let everybody divide up into teams of 4. At the buzzer the teams see who can shoot the wood in half.
  11. I stopped shooting USPSA 4 years ago. 2 months ago I started going to the range again. Real sloppy at first. After 1500 rounds or so things are looking up. I was a mid C class. I went to shoot a practice stage at a local club and several of the guys said I looked like a C class shooter. And I'm geting the feel again!!! I was able to call about half of my shots. When I get the chance I'll do some of the drill you folks are talking about and post then for your enjoyment. You can laugh, cry or make snappy comments. If they sound good I will try them out. Have a 2 in the "A" day!!! Rob
  12. A couple of years ago I read in the American Gunsmith Ins. magazine about some stuff they made. 1 part Brownells Pro Sheen 3 parts ammonia. It makes a very good powder solvent. I've used it ever since. Kinda smelly with the ammonia, but for about 50 cents for 4 ounces I can deal with the smell. Just to cover my butt, I have a P-14 45. I've have'nt tried it on a STI or similar make. The ammonia will evaporate and the Pro Sheen will leave a light coating of oil so your gun won't be naked.
  13. A 9mm 1911? Is it a smaller version of full size?? Who makes is it? And if I could afford an STI, I would have one!!!!! Cool thought! A buddy of mine is going to let her shoot several pistols of his so we can "size" her and see how she does with different amounts of recoil. Nothing to big, just so she can judge for herself. Please keep the help coming. So far it's all been great! Thanks all Rob
  14. Yes, what fits her is #1. She has a ruger 10-22 and does pritty good. A little long but she likes it. When we get a chance we're going to shop around for a good fit. I just was'nt sure about caliber. Thanks all for your help. Don't stop, it will be a couple of months befor we get it. I can allways use advice!!! Rob
  15. My daughter would like to start shooting. I need ideas on what to get her. She has average hands for a 13 year old (if this helps). And about 5'4" It's been so long since I shot a 9mm. Is there much difference in recoil between a 9 and a .40? Thanks All, Rob.
  16. Today I shot my first practise stage in 4 YEARS!!!! I went to the Richmond Hot Shots range (in Cal.) MY GOD ITS'S TOO MUCH FUN TO BE LEGAL. Sorry about yelling. If you're thinking about shooting IPSC just do it. Nobodies cares what make your gun is as long as it's safe. Chances are if someone snickers at it it's becouse they have one too. I'll probably never be a grand master and make $100,000 a year shooting. So I'm in the same boat as you are buddy. But it's just so much fun!!!! I'm hooked again. Just be safe and have fun
  17. This is very cool!. I've been out of the game for a couple of years but will start up again in January. And I'm bringing a new shooter out! Thanks for the video help!!
  18. You might try TASC. They shoot at the Chabot gun range the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month. I used to shoot there and will start again after the first of the year.
