  1. Do they have to hog out the lower? Like happy-switch hog out? I don't believe they have to hog anything out, I think they have to insert shims to get the disconnector height correct, "I THINK" is the issue but that's just a supposition on my part. IPSC GUY
  2. Ok interesting! So your experience was not a faster double tap? Also was your second shot wildly off from your first as well? As in did the shot occur as the recoil was upsetting sight picture and alignment? I think another company is working on a drop in version as well. IPSC GUY
  3. I am still researching this whole thing, 1. The safety of the device is the first factor and from what I have read the second shot can be negated by simply turning the selector off the third position resetting the trigger back to semi only. 2. The legality with the ATF, The ATF has provided a letter saying its legal. 3. Is it allowed in competition? The desire is for a faster double tap. This video shows the negation of the second round. The desire is of course for a faster double tap BUT not at the cost of safety or running afowl of the rules IPSC GUY
  4. Are triggers that fire once on the Trigger Pull and Once on the release like the Franklin Armory Binary Triggers allowed in USPSA competition? IPSC GUY
  5. Anyone ever done anything like taking one of the STI Alumagrip and having it golfballed all the way around rather than just on the front strap and mainspring housing? I find I really like the Golfball grips available for the single stack 1911 and I would love to have a 2011 grip done this way. With the aluma grip it looks like this might be possible. Thoughts on who might be a good smith to do this in a reasonable amount of time? IPSC_GUY SIERRA II ALPHA
  6. Wakal That is the funniest "at the range story" I have read in a long time. really that is great I tell ya. Well It looks like I will shoot limited then. Just wondering if this whole mess will be repeated agin in the new Tactical class??? oh Gads IPSC_GUY sends
  7. In a situation like that, why not simply change to a magazine loaded with whatever you need? IPSC_GUY sends
  8. So it is cool to compete with department weapons then. Good. Wakal does anyone ever give you grief about using the USAS 12? IPSC_GUY sends
  9. The AWB does NOT say no 10 round magazines. It says "a fixed magazine capacity in excess of 5 rounds and the ability to accept a detachable box magazine." No where in it does it limit the capacity of the box magazine. I have read it and reread it. EAA simply as a company policy will not sell the 8 and 10 round magazines to the public. So 8 and 10 rounders are not illegal to own just super hard to find. Now this presents a question. Can LEO use department 8 or 10 round magazines to compete with? IPSC GUY sends
  10. Can someone clear this up for me. Does the use of a magazine fed shotgun put you in open class or can you shoot in the new tactical class or even Standard? Can someone in the know who can quote a REAL rule not "well in IPSC that puts you in open..." post it here? IPSC_GUY sends
  11. How prevalent is the use of 8 or 10 round magazines out there for three gun? I have been reading the AWB and as far as I can tell they are NOT banned. The law says "a fixed magazine capacity in excess of five rounds or the ability to accept a detachable magazine." NO WHERE in the law does it say anything about detachable magazine capacity. If you ask EAA (the importer) they say "well the ATF say not to sell them." Anyway I know the 8 and 10 round magazines are out there in very small quantities. How may people use them? Also are they allowed in Limited? Lastly if one were say LEO and had these magazines through their department, would it allowable to use them in competition? IPSC GUY sends
  12. I have never heard of stoeger before. I looked on their website and they do apear benneli like. I wonder if these would lend themselves to 3 - gun use? IPSC_GUY sends
  13. It is an STI "EDGE" that was built by Dawson on a long dust cover frame. I did not think to talk to Dawson as the cracks are in a place that would have nothing to do with their work. The front cocking serations are from the factory. It just seems to me that the slide is very hard. I don't have a rockwell tester on hand to test it but that is my impression and also the reason I now believe it cracked. IPSC_GUY sends
  14. I have discovered that the slide on my STI .40 has two cracks in it near the front. They start at the bottom of the slide right where the forward cocking serations begin and travel up the side of the slide and extend almost all the way around to the top. Good thing I found this before catching most of the slide in my face. The cracks follow the rear most cocking seration almost perfectly. The pistol has not seen any hot loads or abuse so I am scratching my head as to why it has cracked. I have yet to contact STI as they are closed till the 5th. Will they replace this or not? Any suggestions for dealing with STI? IPSC_GUY sends
