  1. Hello, If the magazine has no rounds in it the slide stop is riding on the slide causing friction. Thanks, Eric
  2. Hello, that should tell you how much they are loved. Good luck on your search. Thanks, Eric
  3. Hello, I turn the dot full on a close target hoser stage. If the stage has long tight shots then I turn it down so I can actually look through it. It will also depend on the bays you are shooting in. If it is in the shade, turn the dot down. If you have a low sun you will have to turn it up. It also depends on the surface on the bays. Grass you will turn it down and a desert you will need to turn it up. No magic setting for all since are eyes are react different to light. Thanks, Eric
  4. Hello, you have to make sure you use the correct adapter to fit your guide rod. The Wolff spring large diameter guide rod will not fit in the small diameter adapter or will cause binding. Thanks, Eric
  5. Hello, well you could use one battery and a weight in line so that the light still works. Thanks, Eric
  6. Hello, I think some of that data is a little out dated now. Most guys running major Limited pistols are using 10-14lb recoil springs. 9mm minor load guys are running 8-11lb springs. Testing what load you are using and what gives you the best hits on paper is what counts for gun games. It also has to be 100% reliable. Thanks, Eric
  7. Hello, I am actually using three different recoil spring setups. Jager captured steel guide rod with a 13lb ISMI recoil spring and a Jentra tungsten guide rod with a 13lb Wolff spring and a Jager captured with a 12lb Wolff spring. The Jentra guide rod is one I cut down for a G34 gen 3. Works perfectly but I may end up going to a 14lb recoil spring depending on the testing for Carry Optics with the Wolff spring. Thanks, Eric
  8. Hello, I am getting a 8" group and it is getting better. Finding a load the barrel likes is taking some time. I can shoot 3" groups off hand with my limited 2011 at 25 yards but that is a different animal all together. I think a 5" group would be what I will be looking for at 25 yards off hand. Curious to see what an after market barrel will do with a 1-16 twist and 124's. Thanks, Eric
  9. Hello, I received my tracking this mourning. I will hopefully test it out next week. Thanks, Eric
  10. Hello, the Glock 45 MOS is a nice pistol to shoot. I have a friend with one which I shot a little. Kinda the best of both worlds with a G19 slide length and a full grip for those of us with large hands. The one I shot was all stock so it does need sights at least. Thanks, Eric
  11. Hello, first I would choose the optic that you want to use. Next would be to get one in your hands so you can measure it up. Then decide if you want to use a plate or directly mount it to your slide. I would say that the Glock MOS plate system setup is the most popular out there in total number of Glocks sold. Many companies make adapter plates for the Glock MOS system. So you could cut the slide like the Glock slide and choose whatever MOS plate you need. You could also make your own MOS plate as well. I am an old school Tool and Die maker that learned the old fashion way of actually filing and bluing stuff. Since you are starting your machining experience this will be a great project for you to learn on. Glad to see you are going to learn to do machine work. Thanks, Eric
  12. Hello, the CZ SP01 I had was a take driver with 121 grain bullets. The Glock G17 is much better since the slide and frame are not touching on slide spring boss. It will be interesting if a new drop in barrel will be that much better? For now I will be doing more testing with loads and recoil setups. Thanks, Eric
  13. Hello, I can't wait to try out the 8MOA and see if I like it or I may need the 6MOA as well. Thanks, Eric
  14. Hello, just install it and sight it in at the distance you normally use. Test it at 3 yards and out to 25 yards and you will be able to see how it does. Then go out to 50 just for fun. Thanks, Eric
  15. Hello: Or you could leave the pad alone and have it offset like the Brazos mount? A standard STI 2011 frame is about 0.830" wide. Thanks, Eric
  16. Hello, my boys shot rimfire matches when they were young. The Buckmarks gave less recoil than the Rugers and they could shoot them faster. My boys were 8 years old when they started to give you an idea and they were on the small side. They are both taller than me now. Thanks, Eric
  17. Hello, for home use get a light/laser combo as well as a set of sights. For sights I like plain rear and fiber front. The light and laser take care of in the dark shooting. Thanks, Eric
  18. Hello: Have you thought of wrapping the outside of the grip with lead tape like the style they use on golf clubs? You could also mill out the area on the inside of where the rail is and add weight in there also. I am not sure having a super heavy Glock will actually be any better than one with just heavy magwell area using plugs and putty. Thanks, Eric
  19. Hello, mine arrived today. I am using a "-" connector, 4.5lb striker spring and a lightened plunger spring. Jager captured guide rod with a 13lb ISMI spring. I'll test it later this week and see how it does. Thanks, Eric
  20. Hello, I would plunk test your rounds to see if the barrel needs to be throated. Thanks, Eric
  21. Hello, so what is the setup to use for a Gen 5 G17? I have a Gen 5 Timney coming this week to try again a trigger I did myself to see which one I like better. Thanks, Eric
  22. Hello, update on the G17 gen 5 adventure. The pistol is starting to become a shooter. The clearance of the frame and finding a load it likes is working out. I am currently using 124 plated bullets and getting paper plate size groups at 25 yards off hand. No flyers or mysterious where the hell did that go shots now. It will be intersting to see how others that have changed barrels are doing with thier setup? Next I will be trying heavier bullets and maybe some more coated bullets again. Thanks, Eric
  23. Hello, the small dots are nice on super tight shots but the larger dot is faster all around. You can turn the dot down and look through them or turn them bright as the sun for fast hoser stages. I can't wait till mine arrives to try it out. I bought the 8MOA and have used up to 12 and 16 MOA C-Mores in the past so I will see how this one will be. Thanks, Eric
  24. Hello, that is great news. Looking forward to trying it out. Thanks, Eric
  25. Hello, you can get the springs from Shooters Cionnection and also recoil springs as well. While your at it look at all the Glock goodies they have. Damn, now I want to go shooting over there. Thanks, Eric
