  1. Hello, try an 8lb spring and see how it does. Also try some 115's if you have some. I like 115's more than the 124's. 121's for IPSC works well. Thanks, Eric
  2. Hello, I ordered the 9mm 125grain TC ones. I haven't shot any yet but hopefully this week. Thanks, Eric
  3. Hello, I shot my 8MOA today at mini poppers at 45 yards. It worked great. I also shot some partial targets as well. It works like a very bright 6MOA when you turn it down even in bright sunlight. Thanks, Eric
  4. Hello, STI used to make a plastic grip that took 1911 style magazines. It used shims on the inside of the grip and a special magazine release to retain the 1911 magazines. I wish I still had the two that I had or could find who made the magazine release. Thanks, Eric
  5. Hello, my Blue Bullets arrived today. 3 months almost to the day when I ordered them. Post lady left them beside my mailbox. 3600 bullets are pretty heavy and the box looks like it was never dropped. Thanks, Eric
  6. Hello, I think the 8MOA dot is not more popular because people think it is too big for tight shots. The Alpha 3 dot is very clear and when you turn it down it allows you to look through it for those tight shots. I have 3 8MOA Alpha 3's so far and I am very pleased with the dot size. I have used 2,4,6,8,12 and even 16MOA dots before and think the 6-8MOA dot size for USPSA type games are the correct size. Now, do I need another Alpha 3? Thanks, Eric
  7. Hello, check your firing pin hole for pieces of brass. Also check your firing pin to make sure it is not bent. I have seen quite a few Win brass here that has blown out on the side just like yours. Well used brass was probibly the problem. I have been using HS-6 for over 12 years for 9mm major rounds and have well over 100,000 rounds of it through various 2011's so I don't think it is a powder problem. I have seen a couple of Bul pistols here with problems of various kinds but firing out of battery was not one of them. Thanks, Eric
  8. Hello, use blue LocTite and clean with brake clean. Clean the screws and the plate threaded holes. Another tip is to shake the tube of LocTite before use. Let the assembled parts sit for 24 hours before use. Thanks, Eric
  9. Hello, another thing to note is going up in power factor may actually give you less felt recoil. It sounds weird but it is what I have found with some comps. Thanks, Eric
  10. Hello, the Carver brass insert I use does not stick out past the grip. It still fits the box. I don't know the weight of it but it does balance out the tungsten guide rod I am using. I do wish they made an insert that was longer like the Seattle Slug I use on my G34 Gen 3. I cut the brass plug flush on it. I still don't see the need for more weight up front. Cater your load and balance the springs and you should be good on the Gen 5 G17 at least. Thanks, Eric
  11. Hello, you are using a great powder for 9mm major. I would bump it up to 7.6 grains and try it again. The grip on the 2011 is different than your Shadow so it may take a little bit to get used to the grip. Thanks, Eric
  12. Hello, I shot a friends open pistol today with a *thumb rest [generic]* rest. I was sighting it in and doing some double taps. I noticed I had less accuracy using the rest. I put my thumb below the rest and accuracy was better and my double taps were quicker. I think it has to do with my wrists being locked in a better position with my thumb being more parallel to the bore of the pistol. I do have large hands so maybe that comes into play as well? I did try these years ago and found that I did better with out it. Thanks, Eric
  13. Hello, looks like a new slide would solve your problem. Too much was taken off the bottom of the slide to fit the frame. You could also have it Accurailed but since it is new I would not do that. Thanks, Eric
  14. Hello, I just shoot one till I get bored and then try something else. So far this year I have shot Open, Limited and Carry Optics. Next maybe PCC or Single Stack. It is fun for me to use a red dot and then iron sights. I do find shooting Open has made me a better Limited shooter. Thanks, Eric
  15. Hello, I was loading 2.8 grains of Tite Group in my Sig MPX 8" and it gave me 140PF with 145's. I think you are on the right path at 2.5 grains of Tite Group at 1.100" OAL. People say Tite Group is dirty but it cleans up easily and will not stop the gun from running. A simple wipe down with a cotton rag works. It may not be the softest shooting but it's a rifle so just shoot it. Thanks, Eric
  16. Hello, Nope 10 inch/pounds. 10ft/lbs is a valve cover torque. Thanks, Eric
  17. Hello, I think you will really like the way it fits and how well it installs. Do not over torque the screws. Thanks Eric
  18. Hello, the testing I have been trying is with the G45, G17 and G34 all gen 5's MOS. For me the G17 MOS is the winner. It just shoots quicker for me and very flat. I don't use a flashlight and don't see the need for one if you set the pistol up for your loads and shooting style. I am using 124/125 grain bullets at 131-134PF. I am using a Jentra tungsten guide rod for the Wolff recoil springs and Zev adapter. The springs are Wolff 12lb and 13lb(still testing to see what I prefer). Trigger is either a Timney(red spring) or one I did myself. "-" connecter, extended magazine release, Carver brass insert. Red dots are Holosun 507C and an Alpha 3 8MOA. Adapters are C&H Precision and a C-More RTS2 for the red dots. No sights since I don't need them. Factory Glock magazines with either TTI +3, Zev +5 or Arredondo +5. For me the G34 just seems to take a little longer to get back on target and the G45 was a little bit too snappy but I did like the G45 more than the G34 for a carry optic setup. You can take this for what it is worth since I am only a "A" shooter older gent that tries to go fast. Thanks, Eric
  19. Hello, over the years I have collected a 5 gallon bucket of 45 gap brass. 45acp shooters hate it but will save it for you. I use 45 gap for my 45 revolver super light loads. Thanks, Eric
  20. Hello, my spring kit came today and I installed the red spring for after market connecters. I really like the reset speed now. It did make the trigger pull a little tougher but the quick reset makes it worth it to me. I appreciate Timney sending this out so quickly. Thanks, Eric
  21. Hello, 40 and 9mm use the same size primers. You could cut down 10mm and use large primers though. Thanks, Eric
  22. Hello, for your STI get a Dawson extended firing pin and a ISMI firing pin spring. For now just check your firing pin tunnel to see how dirty it is. Thanks, Eric
  23. Hello, yes I ordered a case of 125's TC since I thought they would ship the quickest. I guess I was wrong. Live and learn. Thanks, Eric
  24. Hello, Blue Bullets told me it would be another 2-4 weeks. Not happy at all with that service and no updates on delivery. 8 day service from Precision Delta when they had stock two weeks ago. BBI took 6 days to my door. Oh well, I guess that is how they play it. Thanks, Eric
  25. Hello, if it is stainless you can use some green Scotchbrite to give it a brushed look. If you have a blast cabinet turn the pressure down to match the finish. Thanks, Eric
