NEW MPX Magwell by Shooting Sports Innovations
Aircooled6racer replied to kozy's topic in Pistol Caliber Carbine
Hello: maybe he doesn't any more but you could give him a call. Thanks, Eric -
Hello: I think need to do some testing to see what load works best in your pistol. Here is my 27 yard 5 shot group off hand with a stock P320 X5 non legion. These were just some Acme 124's, Clean Shot powder, Winchester small pistol primers and range brass. They are 134 power factor. I get the same results using plated, coated and jacketed bullets with a power factor of 134-140. Thanks, Eric

One more thing is the comp hitting the slide at the front of the slide or is there signs of the bullet hitting the comp?
-
Hello: Another thing I thought of is if the grip screws are tight? Is the grip cracked? Thanks, Eric
-
Hello: Run an 8lb ISMI spring and see how it does. I can run major and minor loads with an 8lb spring. Springs are cheap and need replacement. A good rule is if it is 3-5 coils shorter than a new one. Thanks, Eric

How to Shoot an Optic with the Sun in Front

Hello: Ever notice that the super squads never start on those type of bays? I just shot our state match in the rain on the Friday and know that feeling. Thanks, Eric -
How to Shoot an Optic with the Sun in Front
Aircooled6racer replied to CClassForLife's topic in Handgun Techniques
Hello: If they don't allow install and removal of the tape then you may want to use it for the whole match. So if you can't see the targets and the later squads can see the targets would that be a range failure or adjustment issue or an advantage? Just thinking out loud. Thanks, Eric -
Hello: Why not ask your gunsmith which one he prefers? I am not sure if PT still sell a regular slide still? The two I cut are very well made with good steel and hardness but that was a couple of years ago. Thanks, Eric

Hello: I drill and tap a setscrew in all of the comps. That way they cannot come loose and tighten up. When the comp tightens up or screws more onto the barrel it will soon hit the slide. That will cause a problem of not allowing the pistol to go into battery completly. Hope this helps. Thanks, Eric
-
Hello: It will depend on how concentric the bore is to the internal threads. If the barrel threads are not concentric with the bore it can be a problem. The alignment reamer will just follow the hole that is already in the comp. It will not pull the hole over if off center. Comps tend to tighten on the barrel if they come loose and cause problems with cycling the pistol. Thanks, Eric

What small 2011 parts don't require fitting?
Aircooled6racer replied to UpYoursPal's topic in 1911-style Pistols
Hello: If you can get some parts that you want updated on your current pistol use the old parts as spares. Spare springs, firing pin, firing pin stop, extractor, ejector, thumb safety(use single sided if right handed), slide stop, mag release. Anything more than that you might as well have a spare pistol. Thanks, Eric -
Hello: Very interesting that it fits the plastic grips(said in my evil scientist voice). Thanks, Eric
-
Hello: does anyone know if the mag release will fit a standard 2011 plastic grip? I wonder if they would sell just the mag release? Thanks, Eric

Hello: In the pic you have a Pheonix Trinity safety but you say you have a double tap safety? Did it do the same thing with both safeties? One thing to check is if the safety is rubbing on the bottom of the slide if it moves up just a little bit. Also if the detent does not hold the safety down very well you will have to adjust the detent pocket. Also check to see if the safety is hitting the top of the grip. Thanks, Eric
-
Hello: In the one pic it looks like the upper right barrel lug is hitting the slide. Check the barrel and slide to see if either has peen marks on them. Check your slide stop as well to see if it is worn. I would also check the barrel link to see if it moves freely or is cracked. Thanks, Eric

Hello: My X5 non legion likes 124-125's the best. 115's, 135's were not bad but 147's were terrible. You may want to try a different powder to see if that helps with accuracy. Lastly check to see if your optic mounting screws are loose or even broken. I have seen alot of those around here. Thanks, Eric

Hello: Try some 95-115 grain bullets at 140-150PF for shooting steel matches. Feels like a 22 and will run with no spring change in most pistols. Thanks, Eric
-
Hello: The Federal small pistol primers with your load will have flattened primers. As long as you are not getting any blow by or pierceing the primer you should be ok. When I tried them years ago I was getting blow by and they were really flattened. That was with 115's and 3N37. Thanks, Eric

Hello: I am using some DAA Racemaster mag pouches for carry optics. I also use some old Safariland 771's that are actually for STI magazines- those work very well and fit a bunch of different mags when you tighten down the screws. Thanks, Eric
-
Hello: If anyone is looking at one of these I would suggest you look through both of them if you can. Better still shoot a pistol with one of these on there. I am still torn on which one I like better before I buy one. Thanks, Eric
-
Hello: What I found so far are mounts made by Brazos, PT and Atlas. Thanks, Eric
-
Hello: Why not make an aluminum guide rod and use the stock 320 X5 grip to help with transitions in your Legion X5. Don't forget you would have to still make the power factor with the shorter barrel so you would need a little more powder if you reload. Use 124 grain bullets to get the slide speed up or even try some 115's. Just a couple of ideas you may not have thought of. Thanks, Eric
-
Hello: Have you thought about Carry Optics? Yes you can get another top end built and offset the cost by selling your 40 top end. Thanks, Eric
-
Hello: So what frame mount are you using for your open pistols? Thanks, Eric

Hello: changing grips can give you better feel under recoil and also adding weight to give a better balance on the pistol--"bimmer1980". What is your take on the Legion grip, SSI insert or the tungsten guide rod? I have shot many different combinations and bullet weights in my tests and use the timer and hits on paper to give me the best setup for me. What is your way to test these different mods to your pistol? Just currious. Thanks, Eric
