  1. Hello: They will be cool for someone who likes to collect pistols. I found the gen 1's to be slippery in the hand and like the Gen 2's more. I really don't like the finger grooves for my large hands so the Gen 5 is my current favourite. I will see how my Gen 5 17 MOS is when it gets here. Thanks, Eric
  2. Hello: It is 9mm and is very balanced. It shoots very well, while not being too heavy. Thanks, Eric
  3. Hello: have you considered buying a slide already cut for the red dot you want to use? Thanks, Eric
  4. Hello, here is one I built. I think it turned out ok. Thanks, Eric
  5. Hello: I like the quick slide movement of the 124's with a 14lb recoil spring. It gets back on target quicker so my splits are faster. I also like the dot to return quicker so I get a little longer to focus on the target. That one is hard to explain since it is a visual thing. Kinda like shooting 230 grain 45acp loads and 180 grain loads. If you like fast light acting pistols use the 124's, if you like the slower chunk chunk acting pistol then use 147's. Accuracy is better with the 124's also. I am still going to try some 115's to see how they do since I have only tried 124, 125, 130, 135, 145 and 147's so far. Oh ya and some 121's I will try also. Powders I am using are Tite Group and Clean Shot so far. I have some others to try. Thanks, Eric
  6. Hello: Here is what I am using. I drilled and tapped the mount to fit the thumb rest my son made. Thanks, Eric
  7. Hello, you may want to try one to see how it feels to you. I have tried a couple over the years and decided they really didn't do anything better than running without one. I use a timer and some drills to test things to see if they actually work for me or not. Right now I am using a horizontal platform mounted on the scope mount just to rest my thumb on that my son made on his 3D printer. It is not faster but it does put my thumb in the same postion all the time. It also does not jam my thumb or cause me any pain like some of the other rests I have tried. You can make your own rest using a piece of round rod 5/16" diameter and a screw with a tapped hole in the frame. You have to get it far enough forward so you get your natural grip with your thumb facing forward not straight up. Thanks, Eric
  8. Hello: For me the stainless steel guide rod is just as fast as the tungsten guide rod on target drills with the Legion grip on a regular P320 X5. With the regular P320 X5 the tungsten guide rod with the regular grip is a nice addition. I shoot 124's so that may have something to do with it. Thanks, Eric
  9. Hello: Ream with a letter drill "U" first. If it still key holes move up to 3/8". Thanks, Eric
  10. Hello: I think your bullets are hitting the comp. Take a look at the through hole in the comp on the top. Try shooting at shorter and longer distances to see if the key hole gets smaller and bigger. Thanks, Eric
  11. Hello: does anyone know where to get a heavy grip plug and the heaviest guide rod for a Gen 5 G17? Looking to add some weight to the frame for carry optics. Thanks, Eric
  12. Hello: Maybe I will just take a stock striker and put it in the Bridgeport and lighten it up. Thanks, Eric
  13. Hello: I have and still use Winchester small pistol magnum primers in my major 9mm open pistols. They are actually hotter than the Winchester small rifle primers I use. Thanks, Eric
  14. Hello: Shield Arms have one that looks pretty nice. Not sure if they have any in stock? Thanks, Eric
  15. Hello: I have shot whole matches with the front of the red dot covered. It really helps with your target focus and using both eyes effectively. I also find it helps new red dot shooters with not following the dot to the next target. The boucing ball syndrome I call it. It helps them to transition to the next target faster and actually pick up the dot quicker. Your eyes and brain will take a little while to figure it out if you are used to one eyed shooting but when you do it opens up a whole better way of shooting. Thanks, Eric
  16. Hello: Have you checked the feed lips on the magazine? I set mine to 0.357" front to back for 9mm. Also check the mag catch slot on the magazine to see if it worn. Thanks, Eric
  17. Hello: You can check the rubbing of the magazine and ejector by using a sharpie to coat the area. Cycle the slide to see if and where there maybe some rubbing. Thanks, Eric
  18. Hello: It also looks like the ejector is slightly rubbing on the slide from the wear marks on it? Thanks, Eric
  19. Hello: Check to see if the 170mm magazine is hitting the disconnector rail on the slide. Thanks, Eric
  20. Hello: There is more to it than that. What bullet weight are you using with your 135PF loads? Do you like a fast cycling slide or more of a slow "clunk clunk"? Let us know. Thanks, Eric
  21. Hello: One thing I have seen is bad batteries. Make sure you are using good brand name batteries. Seems like some discount batteries are not made to the same specs. Either they are not quite the same size or there is something inside them causes problems. Some of the problems I have seen is bright to dim while shooting, working then shutting off while shooting but works again when you turn it off then on. Thanks, Eric
  22. Hello, the XD pistols are good if they fit your hand and you like the trigger. The good thing about alot of these pistols is you can add heavy guide rods and different spring rates to tune them easily. The higher bore axis of the Sig is a none issue as some will tell you. Another thing would be the bullet weight you like to shoot in 9mm. My Sig does not like 147's so I shoot 121-125 grain bullets but I also like that bullet weight for my other pistols and PCC's except for open which I like 115's. I prefer loads in the 131-134PF range also. Carry Optics is all about hitting alphas since it is scored minor. A little speed helps also. Hope this helps. Thanks,Eric
  23. Hello: I have shot alot of the different options for carry optics and for now I am using the Sig P320X5 non legion with a legion grip. I also like the regular grip with the tungsten guide rod also. There will be more options to custom tune the parts in the next couple of months I think for the Sig. Next I will be trying a Glock 17 gen 5 MOS once it arrives. A handful of spares for the Glock will have you covered. Most guys I know with CZ's have two they take to the matches and spare parts. There are lots of great options but you will have to find what works for you. Do you like lightweight or heavyweight pistols and where do you like the weight in the hand or at the muzzle? Good luck on your search. Thanks, Eric
  24. Hello: I have big hands so I can just use the 90 degree mount as my thumb rest. My thumb fits in the space between the two legs. Thanks, Eric
  25. Hello: Well that kinda sucks. I guess that puts that plate out for my new 17 Gen 5 MOS that I am getting. Time to look for another brand I guess. Thanks, Eric
