Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Hi guys, We had our most recent Bianchi Cup shoot at 5 Dogs Range in Bakersfield last weekend. Had 12 shooters, which for us is a good turnout. This was the first shoot that we shot all four stages at. We have two plate machines, an action target runner, and four to eight positions for practical and barricade shooting. We are fairly new at this game, with I think only one shooter that has actually been to a real BC shoot. So we are trying to learn the game from reading the rule book and what little we have seen on tv. I am hoping that someone can help us out by answering some questions. 1. Are there any instructional videos/DVDs on Bianchi Cup competition, preferably one that show how all the stages should be shot? I learned an important lesson myself this weeekend. When shooting off the barricade, don't let your hand get too near the cylinder gap. :-) 2. How does a Moore Stick Shift work? i.e which way do you move the lever for the mover? 3. How are BC matches normally sequenced? Is there any overlap of stages? Since we have only two plate machines and one mover, they seem to be log jam in getting people through them. Any clarifications would be appreciated. Our next match is in April.
  2. Right now we are having a match every other month on the 3rd Saturday. 10 am. We are thinking of running an extra match in May, the week before the BC. We are just starting out, but have two MGM plate machines, an Action Target runner and 2 sets of Elite Target TACII turners, as well as barricades. We expect to get 2 more of the TAC II turners this spring and are running them through a CED8000 timer/remote.
  3. Match this coming Saturday, Feb 17th at 5 Dogs Range north of Bakersfield CA.
  4. We have been running a "practice" Bianchi Cup Match for the past two years or so in Bakersfield, CA. We have acquired equipment (2 MGM Plate racks, Action target running target, 2 TAC II turning target units, etc) through NRA grants. We started out small and added stages till we are almost ready to shoot the full 4 stage match. We call it a practice match since our only experienced Bianchi Cup shooter, Marshall Granberg, passsed away over a year ago and all we have to go on is the NRA rule book and what we understand the more recent changes to be. Also since most of us aren't that good a shot we avoid the 50 yard practical and substitute the 10 yard shot twice. Rules are kind of loose as we are trying to get more of our local shooters out to try the match in order to encourage them to do more pistol shooting. Our club, Kern Shootng Sports, started out in HP NRA/CMP rifle, so trying something new goes against the grain of most of the older shoters. We try to bring them around when we can and get new shooters out. Our next match is Saturday, December 9th at 5 Dogs Range, north of Bakersfield.
