  1. I think because the STI's are plastic!!?? "Gun" paint is usually baked on or uses some sort of heat to mend it. If he did that, he would have a ball of plastic formerly known as an STI. thanks for the info, but Duracoat requires no baking. i did however use the warm sun to heat my XD before each coat. anyways, i hope you get it worked out.
  2. i wonder why would your painter guy use Auto paint when there is "GUN" paint out there that does a superb job. i personally use Duracoat and it seems to do the job, havent had any problems yet. i know people that use Norells and they swear by it. wierd, sorry you had the problem though.
  3. i would like to thank you guys for adding this great information. i am new to this forum and new to competition shooting (hopefully to attend a match soon). however, i am not new to shooting in general, i have served this great country for 17 years now(currently deployed). i dont know how to put it into words, but i have trained myself to "comabt shoot" with both eyes open through muscle memory. what i did was get good at fast target aquisition with aimed shots, then through aimed both eyes open shooting, where i let my dominant eye take over and focus the sights. after all this i have acquired the skill of just point and shoot, no aim. i dont really know how i did all of this and i cant really say how my groups are, but the bad guys go down and go down fast in front of my gun. hopefully, i didnt sound like a know it all. i just wanted to share my experiences. great forum by the way.
  4. beleive it or not, i have used shaving cream a number of times. i have also used Simple Green and Gunk. all have worked well. i have neve rused motor oil, maybe i will venture down that road in the near future.
  5. like Viggen said, get used to your gun first then do the things you want to later. you have plenty of time in the world. canyon creek is not the only reputable place that does trigger jobs. Scott at Springer Precision also does XD trigger jobs.
