  1. Howard has retired - I think I got the last set he's going to do (scared to drop em )
  2. I asked the same question and then one day actually shot one - answered all my questions. Without a long winded explanation my 2 pennies comes down to a properly ported and comped gun damn near vibrates when fired rather than recoils. It makes MAJOR. Carries upwards of 28 - 29 rounds. Looks so much cooler than guns in other classes. and the kicker is Its damn near impossible to be competitive in Open unless your running 38Super.
  3. Played with this at SHOT (he had some there). NICE HOLSTER! We've got a couple on order form him and honestly compared to the Ghost, DAA and the like this is beyond GOOD..... They run about what a DAA runs and ordering - just send him an email or call.
  4. Not exactly sure where this topic belongs but, since there are quite a few top and not so top shooters headed into Las Vegas for SHOT Show (1/16 - 20) - wouldn't it be a cool idea to get a mid week match together?
  5. Heres my 2 penneys towards your pocket lightening: As the proud and amazed owner of the Brazos pistol your referring too I cant recommend it strongly enough. Of the 20 people I know that own one (the reason I went that way), not one had anything bad to say about them. They RUN out of the box. There are 2 loads Bob recommends although other powders will work. One is N105 and the other is 4756 which is cheaper. I can tell you 3N37 works but the flame is HUGE and tends to do ugly stuff to the blast shield. Traditionally when receiving a NIB pistola from any builder, it gets packaged back up and sent to this smith or the other in order for it to run reliably - not so with Brazos. Another factor STI mags are my preference. Like I said "my 2 penneys" but buy the Brazos and dont screw with it.......
  6. Like pulling teeth but finally the stages see the light of day........ A7Stages2011.pdf
  7. Wondered that myself - sent out an email this morning asking. Maybe soon?!?!
  8. Dumb question perhaps, but is it only on a certain mag? Mine does that on one of my big sticks. Tracked it down to the lips were a tad wide in front and it was feeding too soon - if that makes any sense. Tightened the dimension a bit and all is well. Aside from that its probably the gun - send it to me and that will eliminate the problem
  9. I have indeed broken one. Operator error I believe. In order to adjust the unit you gotta loosen both lock down screws, which I neglected to do . Sent it back and about a week later a new one showed up. Between the open gun, Steel Challenge 22 and a couple others Ive got 4 of them running and other than "stupid" torx's and operator error all is well.
  10. Ive got two of those inhouse and had the same thoughts. After talking to the folks at CCF as well as other places they are hanging on the rack. The frame is HEAVY, once you put a slide on it even heavier. Comparing the assembled gun to my S_I its almost 9 oz's heavier. Heavy isn't always bad. The biggest concern is that the slide will tear the hell out of the frame after a while - something about the hardness of the slide (cant recall exactly). An aluminum version will trash even faster. The folks at CCF recommend (STRONGLY) only using factory Glock barrels. As for the trigger in the frame, I have Vanek triggers and yes they do work far better (crisper) in a non flexing frame. Call the folks at CCF and talk with them - they laid out everything about the frames and what to use and not use.
  11. What pistolla are you trying to holster?

  12. Since there are two options - cross slot and with the mount kits - and Im probably going to use the Aredondo set up, which one do I need to order?
  13. I appreciate the responses here. The dies are carbide. We (several folks) took the additional step of using Lee, Lyman, and RCBS dies as well as a Dillon sizing dies and all had the same results. We have taken new unfired brass loaded sub-minor to ensure the cases are not stressed and shot them in various pistols to check for some anomaly in chambers. After cleaning them by hand and inspecting with magnification tried to re-size them - ALL produced the same results. I'm of the opinion that the batch of nickel we received is flawed in some way. Monday I will be forwarding to Starline the concern and hopefully there is something that can be done other than using what we have for "drop and leave" matches.
  14. They seem to run but Im hesitant to run them in anything other than practice.....
  15. Yeah like I said, just wondering what Im doing wrong........
  16. Well I assume the Dillons are carbide..........
  17. I thought it was the die at first. Bought a second (Lee) and within 3 cases same thing - if it matters
  18. So before I catch grief, I tried searching and put the question in the BEginners section as Im sure this is a DUMB question. "We've" got about 10K of Starline nickle 38SC pieces and apparently are missing something. First load all good. Second loading MASSIVE scratching from the sizing die. Take the puppy out and buff like crazy - reinstall. Maybe 3 more cases and again massive scratches. Folks thought I was nuts until we loaded, shot and they took the cases home and tried reloading on their machines. Same thing. So now there are at least 3 of us wondering what the h*ll were missing. My set up is tumbler, then light silicone lube (cant say what) then into a "stock" Dillon 38S sizer. Doesnt matter whos gun we fire from - thinking it was grossly oversized chamber. So whats the deal? What did I/we do wrong here? zForgot to mention this does NOT happen on brass brass..... Gracias in advance...........
  19. I second that interest. I am also wanting to know who took the USPSA photos. I'd like to find out if he has photos of certain of our shooters.......
  20. I do this everyday - most of us dont put "steal me" or "evil munitions" stickers on it. All thats required is ORM-D which could mean its hairspray or the like. Most folks have their return addresses sanitized as well - ours just says TDS and the address. If your concerned send the company a note asking them to sanitize the delivery. They'll understand.......
  21. For weak hand its marginal. But from what I can tell its about 10% of the time the course calls for wrong side fire and since I wouldnt go so aggressive with the finger ridges it would be at least ok........
  22. Sorta - I have longfinger disease and even the generous application of the thickest grip tape leaves me with noticable gaps when trying to get a good purchase on the grips. So a proper grip helps to control recoil. In the old days I would use Pachmyer (?) slip ons but since I figured out a method for building up the open blaster I thought perhaps this would be the way to go. But of course the rules........ always rules
  23. So having read and searched and questioned - I have found that I cant find the answer. Is building the grip up like the one shown legal for Limited? Really dont want to spend the time if I just gotta take it all back off or buy another grip to be legal. And its USPSA Im asking about - IDPA is the group of "NO" so thats an easy answer.
  24. Now now - standards are a bit more relaxed north of the border. When I realized it was filmed in Canada, in Can uniforms and the ridiculous 5 way retention holsters (who can work those things) I quickly put the show on the ignore list.
