  1. Probably low pressure loads combined with the lube...that will make anything smoke !
  2. Ok, I have gotten my 147g, Coated 9mm bullets. I loaded up 3 at 3.2 grains of HP-38. My OAL is 1.09, anything longer does not feed well in either of my 2 competition guns. I will chrono those and decide where I have to go from there. It might have to wait a couple of days since tomorrow is supposed to be raining. My personal range doesn't have a roof, so no shooting. As far as reloading goes, I have done thousands of rounds using Summit City and Blue Bullets. Both are good products but I personally prefer Summit City. That is just me and my own opinion. I appreciate all the input folks, thank you. I will post the results here.
  3. I have used these for the last couple of years. Yes, they are a touch harder than the Winchester 500's I had been using previously. Depending on your gun you could change the hammer spring.
  4. Thank you 4n2t0 That is just what I wanted to know !!
  5. This is in the appropriate forum (General Reloading, 9mm/.38). I have a ton of HP-38 so that is what I will be using until my supply is exhausted. I was just hoping that someone would post an approximate amount of grains to use with 147g coated round nose for Minor PF. I appreciate the information though !
  6. I am getting a few hundred 147G round nosed coated bullets from Summit City to try. I am wondering what powder load works good for Minor PF ? Obviously there are more factors to consider, but I am looking for a good starting point. Thanks
  7. I have shot several thousand 124g Summit city bullets. Now, I am getting even more ! I am trying the 147g ! Should be fun and use less powder !
  8. I sure did !! 400 pieces ! That added insult to injury !
  9. Broke right hand and wrist in a preventable fall at home in August...didn't get it looked at for 3 weeks (once the pain became intolerable). Didn't shoot for 4 weeks while it healed. Went back to shooting mid October. Could not maintain grip during stages, accuracy/ score suffering. Went back to Dr. diagnosed with nerve damage. Been getting PT and rehab to make it stronger and is starting to function more normally. I am cleared to go back to shooting in January. this was the result of 3 stupid things on my part. 1. Not having it looked at earlier. 3 weeks was too long 2. Going back too early. Hand and wrist were definitely no where near ready. 3. Not going back to the Dr earlier for PT. Oh yeah, and the clincher...what started the whole issue, tripping over a landing in my basement. It has been there the whole 34 years I have lived here, but I tripped over it carrying a basket of cleaned brass. What a kick in the nads.
  10. We have both extremes here in western NY ! When it is cold we shoot indoors, some heat but can be a bit chilly.
  11. Is the regular or Lite recommended for polymer frames ? I have a Walther PDP. I also have a STI 1911. Both of these I shoot in competition.
  12. Welcome ! Good to see that you are "back in the saddle" !
  13. I couldn't agree more ! Very comfortable belt that you can snug right up tight to shoot, then loosen it between stages.
  14. Welcome ! I am a big fan of the Knoxville area !
  15. Speed comes with confidence in your abilities. As many have said...practice, practice, practice. Envision engaging numerous targets during dry fire. Be sure to include mag changes. I live in the country so trees and bushes and such become my "targets" for dry fire. Speed will come, remain calm at practice and matches. I understand your pain. I did 28 years, retired army. This type of shooting is all new to me. But, man is it fun ! I just won my first stage Wednesday. Almost all alphas with a couple C's and a D. I was faster than usual and more accurate while moving. Improving all the time.
