Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. One more opinion - Limited 10 in .45 with 10 round SS mags. Has anyone seen the equipment survey results from this years SS Nats? That will be a good data point for this conversation to inform the OP
  2. I just took delivery of my Safariland USPSA KIT (the new model is called "USPSA KIIT -2") - and the mounting works correctly with both BladeTech and Comp Tac International series holsters. All three holes line up correctly with Comp Tac. Very nice piece of kit - my recommendation would be to purchase from Midway or Brownells and get it well below MSRP, as opposed to purchasing from Safariland direct at MSRP.
  3. Thanks for the update @jon49erfan Picture?
  4. I have heard that the USPSA Kit works with Comp Tac holsters out of the box
  5. This gun was shot minor 9MM and made weight
  6. They are not returning them because of problems with the finish. This weapon is being decommissioned because it is obsolete Plain and simple. The Marines who were eligible to be issued the M45 have all converted to Glock 19 as primary operational sidearm. Well documented. While a quaint gesture when it was designed, no professional in the community of its intended use would want a 7 round 40 ounce weapon - good god. An awesome collectors piece and a real tribute to the 1911 however!!!
  7. Just back from Single Stack Nationals - talked with STI reps there. The Classic is fully guaranteed to qualify for USPSA SS as well as IPSC Classic - both weight and dimensionally. There were no less than 5 shooters this year shooting this gun - none had any problems. It's close but NROI will allow it at any Level 1 match
  8. Well thankfully, this is OBE since there is now a unique entry in Production for the M&P PRO Core 5. So there you go
  9. I suspect a number of OEMs are lobbying to have a Production optics division - it makes sense (emerging category of gun sales). There has been too much dominance of STI/SVI platforms (and hence little innovation) - it begs the question, "what's next" in the national emergence of Practical Shooting competition. And, how do we broaden the opportunity to bring in MORE members (paying dues members to USPSA).
  10. Hey sure enough, there is a "dot" machined forward of the lug. Cool. So I have tried a variety of 115 and 124/125 grain bullets all loaded to 1.130 without issue - the finished cartridge goes in to correct headspace, chambers, fires, ejects fine but does not go "blunk" when you drop it in the barrel. And I htink thats fine - that seems to be an out dated test. S&W has very precise engineering. My guess is the barrels are somewhat to tighter tolerances? In any case these are not concerns for reloaders.
  11. Dawson Precision makes standard (low) sight set just for the M&P Pro Series CORE rear dovetail - since it is unique and not common with M&P Pro. They make a beautiful competition rear - serrated, .140" notch that is ideal for Production USPSA. Dawson recommends a .180" front sight which I also installed. This set up is idea because the iron sights are completely out of view when an optic is installed - in my case a Trijicon RMR.
  12. Dawson has the tall co witness sight
  13. I took off the stock iron sights from mine. Went to the Dawson low sights (.140 notch rear with .180 fiber optic front). With a Trijicon RMR the iron sights are invisible. Perfect for steel. Take off the RMR and I have a world class uspsa production platform!
  14. Overall duty guns in .40 S&W are not holding up well and as previously mentioned training issues with recoil. Overall trend in LE is back to 9mm. What's old is new again!
  15. I just purchased this pistol as well - I don't know what the "one dot" barrel is (is that a term you contrived?) but chambers 124 gr loads loaded to 1.130 just fine. Non issue you are making up.
