  1. I'm having some fun RO'ing as well! Again, a little bit different attitude!

I get to yell, and it's a GOOD THING!

The no walk through means they really just need to keep their head on a swivel and shoot. We give them hints on where to look for targets if they can't find them! I got to call people maggots today! :PThey didn't give me a stick! :( (Someone told me, they used to yell "take cover" once at SOF and then prod you a little with a stick...well they said hit, but someone else said they didn't beat people! :roflol:

It's pretty interesting and just a whole different mindset! A LOT less "gaming"...no planning of steps...just move and go where you're told! Semi-surprise. They have a brief in their packet, but they have to wait until they get there, and the field courses, you shoot one at a time...so you don't get to walk through and figure out where the best place to shoot things is. This really slows down rifle, as you haven't planned your best shooting position...you just get there and shoot it the best way you can...

Good job from everyone today on A4.

Thanks to the gang for putting this on! Thanks to JP Enterprises for their title sponsorship and a fun, cool range!

    See you all tomorrow!

...I mean...You will do what I tell you tomorrow, too...maggots! :sight:

  7. I wasn't trying to yank any chains. I am driving a large truck and already have more than enough of all types. The clarifications was for the poor first timer who is flying in and the last chance they will have to get ammo will be a couple hours away. Just a bit of clarifying never hurt anything and for you J.J. , at this late date I say XOXOXO :)

    I know!

But, confirmation email has approximate ROUND count as well, which didn't steer you wrong.

Also, sent out target count more recently to all the people signed up at the time...might have gotten sent to spam. Lots of people think I'm spam! :surprise:

I understand that Round count and Target count are different...unless you're really GOOD!!!

    :-)

Bring LOTS of ammo!!! That buzzer does bad things to your brain and shooting abilities!

But it is good to have this discussion, as you will all need to know how to count when you get here! Bwahahahaha!!!

  8. C'mon KurtM. Shoot all A's and the target count IS the round count!! Hahahah. See you in the morning amigo!

    It is Target Count.

But for steel, Target count and Round count is the same.

For paper, if you shoot A's or B's Target Count and Round Count is the Same....

If I say 5 rifle paper...I think it MUST be target count, because 2 anywhere with an odd number, would be...

So There are 5 rifle paper which would be 5 rounds for A or B's, and 10 rounds for C's or D's!

    You know this!

Thank-you for yanking my chain on the first day of the RO shoot. Always appreciated! :angry2:

If one of the match directors responded to a comment about round count with a target count post...

And well..."Target Count (Steel must fall/indicate to score - paper needs 1 A or B or 2 anywhere to avoid penalty)" seems rather clear to me...

Will see you all soon! And am looking forward to it.

By the way, if you only bring enough to cover EITHER the target count or a round count...you will probably be chalking up a miss or two! :surprise:

  9. Most birdshot targets are angle iron, clays or poppers. You don't need anything heavy hitting.

On the "different" target...bwahahahaha...Birdshot must be #6, Ounce and an eighth, 3 dram or smaller.

What the heck are you talking about?

    No shotgun sling needed?

    No shotgun sling.

Silly little target on the bird stage...whole stage must be shot with #6, Ounce and an eighth, 3 dram or smaller.. So bringing big stuff completely unuseful!! :-)

    No turkey loads needed! :-)

  10. Am I reading the stage descriptions correctly and seeing that shotgun slings aren't mentioned? Another first timer question, is it prudent to bring some heavy hitting hunting loads or is that an edge case gamer thing? Our local matches restrict shotgun to low brass shells so I don't know anything about that aspect of shotgun.

As far as I'm aware no sling on shotguns. As for "hard hitting" shotgun rounds, I guess you could use them but really your not saving yourself anything if you do.

Most birdshot targets are angle iron, clays or poppers. You don't need anything heavy hitting.

On the "different" target...bwahahahaha...Birdshot must be #6, Ounce and an eighth, 3 dram or smaller.

  12. I've been posting tons of stuff on Facebook, but have neglected here!

Just wanted to tell everyone that we have slots left for this and an amazing Prize Table!

It's over $40,000 already and we're adding more sponsors!

    Thanks to:

Badger Ordnance, Bartlein Barrels, Double Tap Ammo, Falkor, Geisselle, Hodgdon, Hornady, Knights Armament, Krieger Barrels, Lancer, Lapua/Vihtavuori. LWRC, Title sponsor Nightforce Optics, NoName Tactical, Noveske, OWens Armory, Proof Research, Rocky Mountain Targets, Sierra, Silencerco, TNVC, Troy Industries, Warne Scope Mounts, Whidden GunWorks, XLR, and XS Sights!!!

    Great and generous sponsors!

    Check out: http://johnson3gun.webs.com/p-t-match-august-27-28-2016 for information, but basically...August 27-28, 2016

You bring two rifles, AR-15 and a precision rifle.

PR targets - 5 per stage - at most 2 shots at a target - for 10 possible points

AR TARGETS - 10 per stage - 1 point a piece - could be paper, clays, steel - out to 400 yards

So...20 points per stage - 10 stages - Most points wins!

Nightforce Optics will be providing a dinner Saturday night, glasses for everyone...there will be amazing prizes on the table! :surprise:

Join us! It will be fun! :goof:

  13. You will get...ummm....relatively useless pictures in your match booklet upon check-in.

With natural terrain...they are just general ideas.

You have target count in email, on Facebook and Enos...also at http://rm3gworld.webs.com/about

We do have 5 and two half stages on the ground...and target count is very close so far. (Had a small group come down/up to help us out today!)

Competitors may walk through August 9-10, 2016 as long as the RO's are not shooting. You may watch them shoot, but need to stay back, so the RO's can have their own time on the stages. We also ask that you try not to ask them questions as we are trying to allow our RO's to shoot as well as they can....and you know how important concentration is! :surprise:

As you walk through, there will be an accurate(hopefully) stage diagram with briefing on each and every stage that you can read.

    Hope that helps!

    Denise

  14. Wow!!! This was really a well run, FUN match!!!

Lot's of challenging... stages, but very different and unique!!! I swore a bit, but when don't I??

Thanks to everyone who helped to make this match happen! Thanks to Nordic Components and Vortex Optics for partnering up for this! Thanks to JP Enterprises for sponsoring and for my great rifle!! There were TONS of sponsors, and I came in like 89th, and got $300 worth of stuff!!! Awesome all the way around! Thanks to LUTH - AR and Brunton Group for the great prizes!!!

It was fun not having to set up the whole match, but, seriously, we had a blast...even on the 110 degrees heat index Saturday!!! Thanks, too, to the great people on squad 7. Met and made a bunch of new friends from the best squad...reset, were fun, good shooters...just awesome!!! Thanks to Scheels - Fargo, ND for sending such fun shooters!!!!

    Thanks soooo much!

    Denise

Edited to add: I was so impressed, but I wanted to tell everyone WHY! There are lots of reasons people run matches...money, standing, but this group (and especially the 3 in charge) do it for the love of the sport! I have to tell you...I had mixed feelings when I heard it was going to be 3-Gun instead of shotgun. I love 3-Gun, but a well run shotgun match is a lot of fun as well. But, they did such a good job with the shotgun match, I knew their 3-Gun match would be awesome.

You can tell how much time and energy they put into this. They must've spent hours. They have mostly berms, but I think one of the fastest stages for the quick guys was maybe 55 seconds...they were inventive and although many aspects were annoying - in a good way, because they were challenging and sometimes, uncomfortable...climbing into the SUV, running in the sand, dragging the tire - they were so well thought out. The heart and energy and time that went into this match...well, I know how much it took. It was well worth the drive! These are the kind of people I LOVE to see running matches. What a blast!
