  1. Is there a formal rating system for multi-gun matches (GM, M, A, etc.) or does one use their USPSA rating? I'm new to multi-gun and have been indicating "U" as my rating. Should I be using my USPSA rating?
  2. Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. I ended up going with the Lee undersized sizing die, which has done the trick.
  3. I've loaded close to 100,000 rounds of 40 cal major in my Dillon XL 650 and I can't remember the last time I had a round fail to chamber. I drop test them in a Dillon case gauge before matches and they always fall in fully and drop out easily. However, I recently switched over to 45 cal and I'm experiencing a inordinate number of rounds that fail to drop. They get stuck in the case gauge at a rate of 10% or more. I figured this was an issue related to the Crimp Die in Station 5, so I've been adjusting it up and down but I'm still experiencing the problem. Any suggestions?
  4. Follow up on this thread to say that I finally decided on the Kahles k18i with the IPSC reticle. I was able to find a demo model at $500 off retail, though it certainly looks brand new to me. LOVE it!
  5. That does look interesting. Much lighter. The new model is mentioned here for anyone that isn't familiar with PA (I wasn't): Taking a closer look at Primary Arms
  6. Anybody care to share their thoughts on the latest 'best 3 gun scope'?
  7. Oh, and the C-More C3 now has a retail of $2k but is on sale at $999.
  8. It looks as though the price for the Vortex 1-10 Razor has risen quite a bit in the last two years. The only 1-10 on the Vortex website is the Razor HD Gen III at $3600. Yikes. The Razor Gen II-E is a 1-6 scope at $2,000. Meanwhile, I'm seeing the Kahles K18i 1-8 going for $2550. Has Kahles prices come down in the last two years? I'm leaning towards the Kahles. Any thoughts or alternatives would be appreciated.
  9. I plan to have a competition-oriented shotgun built out for me. Right now, I'm trying to decide between Dissident Arms, Hayes Custom Guns, or Hawkeye Ordnance. I wanted to first ensure there isn't anyone local that can do it, but no luck there so far, so I'll probably go with one of those three known entities. Until then, I'm using an old Remington pump. Not exactly competitive, but it'll be fun nonetheless. I'm surprised the make of the gun would make a difference. I figured everyone using over the counter shot shells would be gravitating towards the same charge and shot size.
  10. I load my own pistol rounds as a long time USPSA shooter, but I'm just trying multi gun for the first time. To start off, I'll use factory shot shells. What do guys generally use as far as shot size and charge?
  11. Checking out there website now. Appears to be exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks so much.
  12. I'm ready to take my 3 gun AR to the next level with high quality (and cost, I'm sure) parts for flat, fast shooting. I'm looking for a low mass bolt carrier group, compensator, tunable gas block and buffer system. All kinds of choices out there, but I'd really love to find a competition-oriented retailer that can provide these items with the advice and knowledge of what works well together for my gun. Does such a retailer exist or am I going to have to piece this together from various sources and hope it all works well? Appreciate any advice.
  13. Long time IPSC shooter gearing up to try multi gun competitions. I shoot Limited in USPSA, 40 cal major and I want to stick with that pistol, so I'm thinking Limited is the right division for me in multi gun. In reading the rules, the only difference I could find between Limited and Tactical is that the latter allows a magnified scope on the rifle, while Limited required a non-magnified optic. Is that a correct assessment?
  14. Recently moved my family and my company from California to Reno. Love it, love it, love it. Shot my first match with the Western Nevada Pistol League. Really good guys and a ton of fun. I shoot a Pistol Dynamics/Paul Liebenberg Limited pistol in .40 and reload on an old Dillion 650 that I recently upgraded with parts from Snowshooze. So much smoother. Being an old guy, I also enjoy .45 cal single stack. I use a modified Nighthawk Custom for that. Also into fly fishing in the Truckee River and hunting Chuckar and Quail on Federal land.
  15. I wondered if there might be something 'clingy' about WST. I have other powders I can try, but I'd I still have 6+ pounds of WST. I tried something this morning that appears to have done the trick: I dipped the end of the powder funnel into powdered graphite. Just a touch did the trick. No sticking.
  16. I can second the recommendation for the snowshooze upgrades. The roto-cam actuator along with his Premium Performance kit makes for MUCH smoother operation and absolutely no powder bouncing out of pistol brass as the shell plate rotates. I also added his Case Feed Stop Switch and Primer Stop Switch, but those are really for convenience. All his products are extremely well made and work perfectly. Highly recommended.
  17. I've never lubed pistol brass, at least not the .40 and .45 I load. Absolutely when I load for rifle on a single stage press, but not pistol on the Dillon. Perhaps something I should consider, but with no lube, that couldn't be what is causing the sticking. I may invest in a buffing wheel and give that a try.
  18. Appreciate the response Farmer. Can you elaborate on your concerns regarding my grounding approach. What problems do you foresee? I'll try out your suggestion to swirl the funnel in some Alliant. I don't use case lube on .40cal, but maybe too much polishing compound in the tumbler? I'll look at that as well. Thanks!
  19. I recently switched my XL650 from .45 to .40 caliber. Everything is running perfectly with one exception: Little bits of powder are sticking the to end of the powder funnel, which subsequently drop off on to the plate. I'd like to eliminate or at least minimize this issue. My .40 cal loads are intended for IPSC: 180g Bear Creek Supply Flat Point 4.6g WST I've tried two things to address the issue, with no luck: 1) I thought it might be a static charge that was causing the sticking. I therefore cleaned the entire powder assembly and hit it with static guard. I then attached copper wire to the base of the powder case as well as the frame, grounding those into an outlet. Heck, I even tried wrapping an anti-static dryer sheet around the powder tube. No change. 2) I then thought the tip of the powder funnel might be rough at a microscopic level, allowing particles of powder to stick. I tried polishing the powder funnel in both walnut shells and corncob. No change. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
