Doug- what size dot do you prefer and where do you like the 45 degree mount mounted?
Hi Drew,
I prefer a small dot, 2 - 3 moa, that way it's about the same size as my rifle scope's dot. I put the 45 deg. mount a far back as possible on the right side of the receiver, since I'm right handed. I zero my side dot at 25 yards.

I set up a long range gun with red dot mounted high on the right side to help locate targets. My open rifle I use a 45 offset mount. The 45 offset is much faster to use and has the same cheek weld as the main optic. Just rotate the gun to pick scope or dot. You can adjust the height of the offset dot as necessary to put it in the same height over bore as the scope and it makes the transition between the optics quick and smooth.

My brand new JP 9mm doubled and tripled several times on it's first trip to the range. I swapped out the JP trigger springs for a mil spec set and it works fine. Trigger is a little bit heavier but it never doubles and breaks like glass.

I like to have more clearance on the bottom of the gas block. When you use the handguard for support it can deflect up quite a bit depending on the design. I just use a dremel or disk sander to reduce the size of the gas block. A little black spray paint hides the changes.

I turned in a individual Form 1 in mid July and it was really refreshing to just drop off a copy at my local Police Department instead of hoping they would sign off. (Took 2 weeks last time to get a sign off) Not a bad idea to get a signature or receipt of some kind to prove you delivered the form.

Don't let the NFA transfer across state lines paperwork scare you, it's pretty painless. Just fill out a 5330.20 at the beginning of each year for the name and address of each range you will be shooting at and list the dates of Jan. 1st through Dec. 31st. and you are covered for the entire year.
Wrong form, you mean 5320.20.

Technically it's coaching because it's outside the commands given on a stage. In reality, especially at a local match, coach-throughs are just fine and with newer shooters this helps keep them from getting DQ'ed, upset, discouraged, and doesn't affect the match score in the slightest. A little talk afterwards about "remember your sequence - we want you to go home safe at the end of the match, not now..." sets the tone, IMO.
Not coaching. A safety warning is not coaching. When a shooter does not adequately show me the chamber I repeat the "Unload and show clear" command. I have had at least 2 times that shooters had a round in the chamber when clearing. Making sure a shooter's gun is clear is no joke and as the RO I am responsible to make sure the gun is safe before I make the range clear.
8.6.1No assistance of any kind can be given to a competitor during a courseof fire, except that any Range Officer assigned to a stage may issuesafety warnings to a competitor at any time. Such warnings will not begrounds for the competitor to be awarded a reshoot.Doug -
I just bought their 10.5 for a suppressed SBR. Let you know how it works out when it's assembled.

Price range would help too, you can spend a lot of money on a long range optic.

I have a GMR-13 with the 14.5" barrel and pinned comp. Unless you want to use a suppressor without paying an extra $200 to SBR the gun (and you can't use a suppressor in USPSA PCC) then go with the shorter barrel. A 9mm won't pick up much extra umph from a barrel longer than about 8-10".

Isnt that the truth. I started out trying to spin it with the normal 7/8oz 1300fps Fiocchi I normally use. It killed me. I switched over to 1oz 1600fps Winchester deer hunting slugs and didnt have a problem the rest of the match.
I shot Fiocchi 7/8 low recoil slugs on every spinner at Ironman this year and didn't have a problem. It's more about getting your hits and timing.

I shoot Fiocchi 7/8 Aeroslugs out of my Saiga and zero at 75 yards. That puts me at about 6" low at 100 and about 1" high at 50. I check shot after I zero with slugs.

Realistically no difference but we are talking rules and that may have nothing to do with reality, especially in regards to USPSA.

This sucks, I'm stuck in Lexington this weekend (University of Kentucky for a training class) with nothing to shoot. Be nice if it was this weekend.

Could you port the barell?
Yes, if you want to shoot in Open. No in other USPSA divisions. I have not checked every rule set so YMMV.

I use both long mags and coupled for my R&R Saiga. I have a 20, a 17, a coupled 12 using Arredondo's coupler and a bunch of 12 singles. Coupled 12 is good for stages where I have to switch from shot to buck or slug.

No shuttle, walk it like a Trooper should!
And stay on schedule, or match DQ for delaying the match.

Makes it rough on the ROs that have to shoot 9 stages 7 miles apart in 2 days.

I guess you guys don't get it. The PCC does not replace the rifle or pistol but supplements it. Depending on the rules the shooter could choose to shoot some pistol and some rifle targets with the PCC. On some stages the shooter might elect to shoot only rifle or pistol targets with the PCC. The choice is up to the shooter and adds to the fun of solving the stage. Because a PCC can safely be used to shoot rifle, pistol or shotgun targets it makes a fun gun to shoot targets under 100 yards.

+1Leave PCC in USPSA, where it belongs.
...and Trooper Division.
You going to have Trooper at Rocky Mountain? If so we'll need a Trooper shuttle!
Doug

It's up to the shooter to decide how to solve the course of fire. You give them the rules and they make the choices. The more possible choices the more interesting it becomes. The COF stays the same, only the ways that it can be solved change.

I just finished shooting Ironman in Trooper and never heard a single complaint from ROs and never heard them ask about PCCs. I used my pistol on 2 out of 10 stages and my PCC on 9 out of 10 stages. Only sdditional duty on the RO is prepping an extra gun in some cases.
I'm thinking about allowing PCCs at the NWMGC this summer but need to discuss it with my partner first. No changes to targets or stage descriptions, just need to add some new rules.

You said your 1-4 is already mounted so get a 45 adapter and a red dot like a FastFire III or C-More STS. I have both and they work fine.
