  1. After I got about 3-400 rounds thru it issues pretty much disappeared, it has been running 100% for about the last 1k. I am going to change over to the Taccom bolt with the AR style extractor, and their 3 stage buffer, I think it will be better long term, and the are a local company (MN) so xtra bonus. 2. +1 get the loader for colt mags you will be glad Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk
  3. I built my AR9 on an Anderson lower with a KAK industries Mag block for Colt mags, Nothing fancy, Spinta Bolt, Mil spec trigger with JP springs, for a hair under $700. I like to tinker, so it was fun for me to build my own. It has mostly run pretty well, some occasional FTF and the odd FTE which I narrowed down to ASC mags and the Spinta Bolt when new, once I got about 500 rounds thru it the FTFs disappeared. Still get the odd FTE, I blame the bolt. I put a Taccom magwell, Taccom ULW Buffer, and Hogue furniture over the last year, Plus a Metal form Mag with the TTI +10 extension. I didn't shoot last season (job issues) but I'm planning to shoot as much as I can this year. Planning to upgrade the BCG and buffer system to the Taccom Extreme BCG, and the 3 stage buffer. Knowing what I know now I would have went that direction from the start, and possibly would have gone with a dedicated 9mm lower for colt mags QC10 or similar.
  4. I run the ghost mag pouches bullets out just like my pistol, seems to work with 32 round colt style mags.
  5. Your classification is expressed as a percentage of the High hit factor for your division, it has nothing to do with major or minor, which is something you declare for each match (and will have to prove at chrono). So the answer to your question is yes.
  6. Taylor freelance makes a +10 for colt mags. I have one on a metalform 32 rounder er now 42 rounder. I think it will also fit ASC mags as well but haven't tested it.
  7. 1st time build. Anderson upper and lower, 16" chrome moly barrel, Mil spec buffer and furniture. Spinta bolt, Kak industries colt style mag block.
  8. +1 this...Had it happen in a Match last weekend
  9. Shot it in a match on Sunday, for the most part it ran good, with the exception of some pilot error, I'm riding up on the thumb safety occasionally activating it inadvertently. It's only mildly annoying and totally fixable with some dry fire, making sure my index with my thumb ON TOP of the safety happens every time. Other than that she is a straight shooter, more accurate than I am. I do miss that FO front sight..(Come on Ben Stoeger Pro Shop!!)
  10. I like to run about 135 pf in my CZs seems the best balance of recoil and cycle time. The Stock III feels about the same with those loads.
  11. Sounds like I'll be in the ball park with 4.3 gr ETR7 under a 124 gr bayou at 1.090 then, the gun runs pretty good at that OAL.
  12. Ran 100 rnds of the 1.090 stuff dropped .1 grains last night. The gun ran pretty well at that OAL, Zero Malfunctions, and I couldn't get through a mag of the longer stuff, knocked the sharp edge off the breach face so no double feeds either. So pending a little chrono testing I think I have my load! Going to try it out in a match on Sunday! Time for some dry fire practice!
  13. the TCN 124s have the same or similar profile to the TCN 147, I would start to get nervous loading a 147 so short little case volume, especially with ETR7 which is a fairly bulky powder by weight. Hoping my 124s loaded to 1.090 from 1.115 at the same charge weight won't be significantly higher pf. While I don't mind load development it just takes time and I have a major coming up April 30!
  14. Shooting CZs for years, I'm on top of the periodic TRS Replacement. I loaded up some shorter loads (1.085-1090) to test live fire, hopefully that will be the ticket for the gun to run...everything else seems to be working ok! Do the Tanfos have similar issues with the slide stop...in my reading I haven't found any reports of that...only that the slide stop is more costly.
  15. I guess this girl likes em short! Dummied up some of the Bayou 124 TCN's at about 1.090 and they chamber fine! Did several rounds that way, and they will load as fast as I can work the slide. Now I will have to get some loads made to that OAL and back to the range, It would be fun to try it out at a match this weekend! Should I be concerned about dry firing?? I don't do a ton.
  16. Visited the range with my new purchase...I will share my impressions so far. The good. The Ergos are fantasic...fits like a glove DA trigger reach is shorter than my CZs The work he had done on smoothing up the trigger was really good DA is at about 8 lbs and super smooth and the SA is about 3 lbs (according to my not so scientific fish scale) about the same as my SP01s muzzle rise is minimal and it returns to a sight picture more quickly than the SP01 but this is really splitting hairs... Scary accurate...I had one group of 5 inside of 4 inches at 25 yards off hand and inside 10 I could damn near put them thru the same hole at will, its not going to need much zeroing with the current Front sight, but sadly it's not FO, so It will be going away soon, which leads us to... The Bad. No FO front sight...on order my TCN bayou 124 loads won't chamber reliably at 1.115" OAL so back to the drawing board on that one, hopefully I can get short enough to work cause I've got a few thousand of them. double feeding on the last 2 rounds in the mag...124grn JRN RMR at 1.150 which oddly enough would chamber the bayou TCN 124s were sticking in the chamber so badly, when I would finally get the action open it would pull the bullet right out of the case ...I'm thinking the double feed is being caused by the sharp edge on the lower breach face...it is really sharp. I had a CZ75B that would do the same thing occasionally until I put the 1000 grit to work and smoothed out the sharp edge. All that being said my overall impression is favorable, while it would have been nice to have it run right out of the box, but there are no show stoppers here, nothing that can't be pretty easily remedied. The last owner took super good care of it. Plus he hadn't put many rounds thru it. First order of business is get it reliable, can't wait to use it in a match...off to the reloading bench!! I have got OAL problems to fix!
  17. I will be for sure shooting them side by side likely tonight ...CZ variants are all I have ever shot in competition. I've grown pretty fond of my SP 01s!
  18. Naturally I'm going to run some rounds over the chrono before I take it to a major. Hopefully I won't have to change much. Luckily I am not sitting on a pile of loaded rounds at the moment.
  19. One piece Sear and a polish on the internals is all that I know for sure. I pick it up tonight.
  20. Picking up a mildly used Stock III, it will be my first sip of the Tanfoglio Kool-aid. What is everyone's thoughts on changing platforms? Any Gotcha's I should be aware of? It would seem on the surface to be a pretty similar platform. I would run it in Production (it's a 9mm). I will be running my hand-loads Bayou 124's over 4.3 grains of ETR7 always has made PF in my CZs OAL 1.110.
  21. Matt Mink built SP01s, Bought used http://s296.photobucket.com/user/derwoodski1/media/Shooting%20Stuff/CZ%20SP01s%20Small_zps5k4wihfa.jpg.html
  22. I am working on an HS-6 minor load (I have 8 lbs of it). The starting load of 6.0gr under a 124gr JRN loaded to 1.150" was significantly hotter than 1016 out of my CZ75B. This is the 20 rounds I ran over the Chrono. Average 1120 and 138PF. I have loaded up test groups at 5.8, 5.6, 5.4, and 5.2gr but haven't had a chance to get the chrono out to retest. Will repost when I do. I like the way HS-6 meters in my Lee Auto disc, and the volume is such that it is visible in the case and readily apparent if there is a light charge. These were chrono'd at an outside temp of about 40 degrees. 1128 1131 1108 1145 1119 1089 1156 1094 1146 1103 1108 1093 1147 1101 1135 1144 1097 1148 1122 1104 HI 1156 LO 1089 AVG 1120.9 SD 21.41705 SPREAD 67 PF 138.9916
  23. Not sure about a 9mm major load, but I just chrono'd a batch of CFE. The load data indicated the minimum load of 4.9 gr thru a 4 inch barrel at 1.150" oal 124gr ran 1006 fps. My own data for 124gr JRN 4.9gr 1.150" OAL was quite a bit higher thru a cz75b 4.5 inch barrel. temp was about 40 degrees. Based on the original load data I was worried about it making minor...looks like I won't have to worry about that. BTW HS-6 ran similiarly Higher that hodgdon's data indicated...about 138 pf. 24. I am looking at Appendix D4 21.5 "Guide rods are considered an “internal part” and may be modified and/or replaced with OFM or after-market guide rods even though part of the guide rod is externally visible when the gun is in battery. Note that the weight limits in D4-18 remain in force and relevant." But then there is D4 21.2b "Remains in effect – a slide may be modified specifically for the purpose of installing sights, and for no other purpose." And to muddy the waters even farther D4 21.3 "You may replace the slide with an OFM or aftermarket slide which is of the same length, contour and caliber as the original slide for that model of gun." Which would mean I could replace the slide with a Shadow slide that was drilled for a guide rod, but not drill an existing slide for a guide rod!?! difference is just semantics
