  1. I am not an expert at this but I do have some experience with it so I will try to answer your question. Exposed lead bases can cause lead residue to build up in the comp and will require more detailed cleaning to remove. Plated bullets do tend to tumble sometimes from an AET barrel but it is not always the case. I have also noticed that plated bullets do not seem to be as accurate from an AET barrel, along with the tumbling. I have a friend who was using a special run of plated bullets that were triple dipped in his open gun and they were the most accurate projectile that I have ever seen. They actually measured .357 but didn't show any problems shooting through his barrel.
  2. You may consider getting a .40 cal glock. You would be able to shoot it in production, L-10 and Limited. You could also pick up 2 glocks (especially used) for cheap and the modifications (if wanted) are not too terribly expensive.
  3. This is kind of a silly post but I can't get on the SVI website at work and I need to know their phone number. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
  4. I shot a match this past weekend that was a halloween theme. They painted the plate racks orange like pumpkins and put smaller targets in front of most of the USPSA targets that had white garbage bags with faces drawn on them to make them look like ghosts. All of the "ghosts" were treated as soft cover that you had to shoot through to engage the target behind. They also used orange fencing for the walls and made use of dried corn stocks. It was pretty cool and was interesting shooting through so much soft cover.
  5. Lucas, I am assuming you are asking about my DOH. It is nothing fancy, they cut the front of the holster down a couple extra inches, formed it with a much deeper sight channel and flared the top out a little and rounded off all of the edges. It also has an adjustable knob on the side to apply or relieve tension on the gun. I have a really high caspian front sight on my Limited gun and was breaking fibers occasionally with a regular DOH. With the deeper sight channel and the other features it draws really smooth and is actually designed to come out easily even if you are twisting the gun slightly on the draw (el prez). I prefer it to any of my other holsters and was actually thinking of having one made for my open gun (shorty with docter dot). They also did some work on my mag pouches and the best part is none of this cost me any more than the stock items would have (of course I know the manager and live very close to the factory).
  6. Check out Matt Burkett's and Saul Kirsch's websites. They have alot of useful stuff that you can print out. I just copied the stuff into one word file and printed out the whole thing.
  7. CR Speed for Open I have a BT DOH for my limited gun that they custom made for me with some extra features.
  8. I have tried quite a few and I have settled on Wolff Variable.
  9. I listen to the soothing sounds of the tumbler cleaning brass. Its nice because its just loud enough that I can't hear my wife running her mouth.
  10. If you want to become adept at shooting in the rain just become a member of the Northwest Section and move to Washington State. Seriously, I shoot in the rain alot and I find that the most important thing is just keeping my hands warm. I don't mind a wet grip or soaking wet jacket but when my hands get too cold and wet I seem to lose all dexterity. In my opinion a good pair of gortex gloves for between stages is more important than an umbrella.
  11. Reminds me of Thailand, just kidding.
  12. I just try to keep breathing naturally so that while I am shooting I will not subconciously hold my breath. I have found that by doing this in dryfire, practice and in a match my body naturally does it and I tend not to get too tense before the beep.
  13. The ACOG is designed to be zeroed at 100 so the BDC lines up (well relatively depending on ammo). You can get a starting zero at 25 yds using the 300yd reticle. This will get you on paper and make zeroing at 100 much quicker and checking the BDC at the other yard lines will help you tell if you need any holdoff.
  14. An EoTech would work fine with the 1moa dot and 65moa ring if you will only shoot out to 300yds and they are pretty tough.
  15. I would say .40 for economy and being able to use the same ammo as the limited gun. I do find that a 230gr .45 is my favorite round to shoot though.
  16. Will you be posting a list of who is in each squad anytime soon?
  17. Thanks for the info, you guys are a big help.
  18. For me it seems that scooping out of a race holster and coming from above in kydex works the best. I do however practice scooping alot to help avoid a possible disaster.
  19. Is a U-die really necessary when loading 38 super?
  20. USMC 0311 US Army 11B Now I am a civilian Range Safety Specialist on Fort Lewis
  21. Who cares about what class you are. Victory over the other B class shooters is meaningless it only matters if you beat everyone who is shooting the same equipment as you.
  22. Get some of the knee pads that Tactical Tailor has in stock. I used them for a year in Iraq and they were great. They are easy on and easy off and they don't slip down.
