    glock death jam

I'd have to go with the light load/recoil spring folks. If the ejector is still in there, then the slide must not be coming all the way back, but far enough to pick up a new round. I've been shooting these things a while and that is a new one on me, Harmon. Dan

    Glock 17 for IDPA

That's what I made "Master" with. It's a good gun for IDPA.

    .22 Conversions

I have a Ciener conversion for a G19 that works well. It's phenominallly accurate. They are right, it needs to kept surgically clean, and there is a break in period. I was going to order another kit for my G35 and had a question about the higher cap mags. When I called I got a recording that said to check the FAQ on the website and if it's not there send a check or money order for $5 and they will schedule an appointment to answer my question. I can't tell you how much that outraged me. I am personally inviting Ciener to send me a check or money order for $5 and I will look at their ads again (once per). Until then I will wait for an Advantage Arms kit and do so with a smile. HK Dan

    FTE in my G35

The previous poster nailed it--you're dramatically under-powered. Jack that up to an upper-mid-range load and it will work fine. IDPA doesn't like the bunny fart loads anyway! If they found out about it, they might FTDR ya. Dan
  5. A mag well in IDPA? Why? You make what? 1 reload per stage if it's a big one? The Dawson would not fly with our group--I don't believe it would fit in the box, but it's also a weighted accessory meant for competition only. Nobody in their right mind would have a CCW gun with it. That directly violates the spirit of the rules (IMHO). Dan Ps--USPSA Limited, now that's a horse of a different color! Bring on the ICE, baby!

    FTE in my G35

At 125 PF you're dramatically under-powered. Jack it up a hair and you should see the cases come all the way out. After playing around with bunny fart loads I eventually went back to full tilt .40 loads. I'm doing this for gun handling skills, not on the misconception that I'm ever going to win the Nationals...<g> Dan
  7. Well, the G34 does come with adjustable sights, extended controls and a factory 3.5# trigger. That's $30. I honestly can't say there is a big difference between the two models (for me). In terms of performance, I have noticed a better recovery between a G22 and G35, but the G17 and G34 don't go the same way for me. Even at that, the difference is neglible--if you're going for that 'last 5%' of your performance it might matter (in that case buy a Bedel). IMHO, Dan
  8. I believe the California Competition Works delrin magwell is legal on a G17/G34. If you have to have metal one, the lightning strike is virtually the same size. Dan
  9. The G27 is going to be punishing for her. If you're buying one just to shoot matches with, the G17 or G34 would be good candidates for USPSA Production and for IDPA Standard Service Pistol. With a good trigger the 34 is 'state of the art' for Production (IMHO) HK Dan
  10. <Chuckles> Thank you, thank you, one and all. I'll consider the dingle balls, but that's just going to put it 'over the top'--I mean have some taste, will ya? LOLOLOLOL Dan
  11. My G35 Limited gun was stolen 3 weeks ago--I hope you guys never have to go through this. Luckily my Homeowners covered most of it and the NRA is covering the deductible. All I have to do is re-work the gun! Glock doesn't have green framed 35s available anymore (that my dealers could find), so I had to replace her with a black one. As part of my theft deterance program, I decided to customize the finish--you know make it really recognizeable? Then, wait--what about unique? Hey--what if I made it SOOOO ugly, nobody in their right mind would dream of stealing it???? Here is the result! Tastefully bold without being gaudy (yeah, right!) Dan
  12. I've done one and seen several. It's been very durable. On gal painted her frame purple and uses a Fobus holster. I asked how it was holding up. We walked to the safe area and she pulled it, showing me a black spot on the trigger guard. She wet her finger and wiped it off. It wasn't the paint coming off on the holster, it was the holster coming off on the paint. I doubt that it's permanent, but it's pretty darned good. Degrease your disassembled frame, let it dry, then hit it with 90% isopropyl alcohol. Wipe it down thoroughly and let it dry, then shoot it. HK Dan
  13. I have both the Tactical and the Sevigny sights on GLOCKs. I prefer the Sevigny sights, and I like the thin front blade. I've only shot 1 USPSA match with the Sevignys, but my accuracy in IDPA has gotten steadily better over the three matches that I've shot with the Tacticals. The factory front sight is like having Rosie ODonnel sitting on your slide; ANYTHING will be an improvement. HK Dan

    G-17 or G-34

The G34 won't have the same feel as your G35 anyway (it's lighter). Do what ya want, man! It won't make a spit's worth of difference in performance. If you really want a 9mm with a G35 feel, buy a conversion barrel and use your same trigger, magwell, and sights! HK Dan

    G22 problem

The the crimp and seating on your loads as well. That can certainly cause an out of battery situation, but it would have to be pretty far out of whack. HK Dan
  16. I have both conversion barrels and can't say that I have a preference. I don't like the LW engraving, but it effects nothing other than my aesthetics. Both are good quality products. HK Dan
  17. The recoil spring and the striker spring are not relevent to one another. The exception would be if the slide goes back when you pull the trigger (the recoil spring is too weak). I run 11# springs in my G35 with a conversion barrel, I also use the Wolfe spring kit as described above. Finally--once and for all--I've seen the following guns use a conversion barrel--G35, G22, G23, and G27. NONE of them had to change out the extractor and/or ejector. They've all worked flawlessly using the OEM parts that they came with (except the barrel and mags). The one thing that makes them all screw up is to use under-powered ammo. If you stay in the upper range of the load it will be fine. If you go with a mid-level load or lower, you will have problems. HK Dan

    G21 ejector

It sounds like a grip issue more than an extractor or ejector problem. I've noticed that when I use a really light grip with my G35 or G17 it does throw the brass directly back at me. Try horsing in a little bit and seeing what happens. HK Dan
  19. The process we used was simple. Jim completely stripped it, cleaned it, and I used the Duracoat stripper to remove any residual oil, etc. After that, Jim shot it--his first airbrush work EVER. It has 6 coats on the holster wear areas and 4 coats everywhere else. It looks like it came from the factory that color! He did the inside of the frame as well. I did my son's USP 9mm in the same color and my G17 slide in black-green (OD Frame). Again, it came out beautifully. I can't say enough good things about the product or the company (Lauer Custom Weapons). Very helpful folks! Dan Ps--Congrats Pharoh--I saw your name listed as a new RO a while back. I meant to do a post when I saw it and never got 'round to it!
  20. Well, you can't Duracoat just one, they say. This is our 3rd project, a friends formerly black on black G34. It went from typical and shop-worn to fresh and new! If you have a need for re-finishing a firearm, this stuff is amazing.

    Glock G35 Holster

Bladetech pulled a huge percentage of shooters at the IDPA Nationals. The survey is in the Tactical Journal this month. The DOH has to be modified to be legal in IDPA, but it's a heck of a holster. I don't think it loses any speed to the "race holsters" and is very secure. HK Dan Safariland makes a decent holster for the 35 too.
  22. The CR Speed has served me well. I like the lock, and the fact that it won't bung up my slide. HK Dan
  23. Are you sure that your trigger srping isn't broken? This would be an exact description of the symptoms.
  24. I think PyramidAir and Airsplat sells the metal conversions and spring kits. They run $30 or so, but you'll need to go to red gas once you install them. HK Dan
