You might want to check out the Blade tech Quad Mag holder. It keeps 4 mags pretty close together. A couple of guys at our club use them and they really like them.

Are the outside magazines within 2" of the inside of the belt? If not, it isn't legal for Single Stack.
They look to be well within 2". My brother has some, and I will check.

Doubly troubling when your job is based on repairing things. I work on tools for a living, and the industry is constantly working its way toward disposable tools. I am always amazed to find tools that have zero parts available for them.

I read it over a year ago. I enjoyed it, and reread it a month ago to refresh my memory on some of the details. Interesting method of relaying survival info through the story line.

You would not want a bearing under the shell plate. It would cause too much clearance between the brass and shellplate, and cause all sorts of problems.
Randy
We are talking 650, right? The brass rides on the shellplate.
Hiro,
You want to try this? Let me know and I will order some parts. Sound interesting...
Later,
Chuck
I was thinking like a 550 owner.
A couple of things to think about on putting the washer/bearing under the shellplate. When you cycle the press as designed, all of the load is distributed evenly from the shellplate to the main platform via the full diameter of the shellplate. If you install anything to raise up the shell plate this force will be distributed fully on the diameter of the lifting material(nylon washer, bearing, etc). My guess is that either the shell plate will flex the amount of lift, or the lifting material will become distorted/ruined. Neither result sounds good. I am not sure if the shell plate is hardened, and if so how hard it is. Intsalling the thrust bearing(.078125 or thinner maybe) with out the thrust washers will most likely dent the shell plate and main platform at the position where the rollers are when the press is activated. Adding the thrust washers at .032" each will raise the shellplate .014125" which is going to allow for well over 1/8" of flex in the shell plate.
I think it may be opening up a can of worms. You have options like insetting the bearing into the main platform and setting the bearing protrusion to a minimum, but I am not sure all of the work would be worth it.

Interesting! Understanding your limitations and abilities is probably the hurdle to accomplishing those two things. If you believe that you need to constantly get better, you may never realize you have the tools/skills that will allow you to remove all doubt and stop thinking.

What did it feel like then?

Hello, Brian! How interesting that I came back for a look today and find this question about a post from several months ago. I've really missed you all.
Anyway, to answer the question, and this one is awkward to describe with words.
Since that day, I'll have to say that it feels like an intense interest. An immersion into the action. There is very little of the self-critiquing mental activity that once accompanied my practice sessons. It's a bit like walking out of the house and climbing into my truck. I don't ask myself "why do I walk this way or how can I walk better?"
I simply walk.
"I simply walk."
I like that... a lot.
I am crawling with the hope of learing to walk.
The thing that has clicked for me is that the doing is what brings about positive change, not the trying. I do not know if that is the right way to explain it or not but here is my example:
Last week I have a meeting at the range at 6:00. I show up at 5:40 and think I can get in a quick practice session. I shoot some basic drills with a par timer and burn through some ammo. Nothing special. It is almost 6:00 and I decide to make one last run(3 paper plates-shoot 2ea reload shoot 2ea). All of the sudden the front sight is in slow motion. I did not even look at the timer because I was thinking "I need to do that again" . 3 more times it is the exact same way. I wanted to keep doing it, but I had to get to the meeting. I had been trying on the 1st runs, but then I was preoccupied thinking about getting to the meeting and bingo I am just shooting and focussing without any effort.
My conclusion was that the practice is definately helping me become a better shooter, but I cannot make it happen. I have to let it happen.
Probably not the most profound experience, but a pretty cool one for me personally.

If I get it up
I think a Mod should nail him with that one!!!

+1 to all of the +1's
I just can not stop trying to get my post count up. If I get it up enough, Flex will change the tag line under my avatar!

Washer/bearing/washer on top of the shell plate.
I was thinking under the shell plate at first in which case the dies will need to be adjusted slightly.
would a bearing on the underside work in conjunction with the bearing on top? that would require die adjustment but if indexing is smoothed out considerably that would be worth it.
not sure if there might be issues with brass button.
You would not want a bearing under the shell plate. It would cause too much clearance between the brass and shellplate, and cause all sorts of problems. This looks like a great fix. It is cutting down on rotating friction.
Thanks for posting the idea.

You are approaching the "pick a gun and shoot it" speech. There are an infinite number of options to choose from, but picking one and practicing it until you are more than proficient is always a good thing. Especially if you want to rely on it for self defense. You do not want to try and remember which gun you picked up and where the controls are when you really need to use it.
I have seen seasoned competetitors switch from the glock style platform back to the 1911 and forget about the thumb safety many a time.
Randy
Edited to add that I have forgotten about the safety myself

loctite blue. It is called service removeable. Not as strong as threadlocker, but will keep your screw from vibrating out. Still allows you to pull the screw out when you need to.

Use the search function. Search 6" limited guns and you will get quite a few threads that discuss the differences.

Just so you (and all the readers) know...that is an obvious DQ.
Flex,
I read Rule 10.4.3 but the exception 10.4.3.1 made things a bit confusing. Wouldn't the OP discharge fall under this exception?
10.4.3 A shot which occurs while loading, reloading or unloading a handgun. This includes any shot fired during the procedures outlined in Rule 8.3.1 and Rule 8.3.7.
>> 10.4.3.1 Exception – a detonation, which occurs while unloading a handgun, is not considered a shot or discharge subject to a match disqualification, however, Rule 5.1.6 may apply.
Edited to add:
Let me clarify... What I meant to say is that, if the shot happened after the “If Clear, Hammer Down, Holster” command, the shooter would have been DO'd as per Rule 8.3.7 but if the RO hadn't said this yet, he wouldn't have been DQ'd. Is this right or am reading these rules all wrong.
BTW I am not trying to be argumentative. I am not RO certified, I am just trying to understand these rules.
If the ULSC command had not been given, then the shooter would have had his finger in the trigger gaurd durring a reload, and I would think it is still a DQ.

Everybody has got to figure out where they want to spend their time. The OP said he wanted to try working up a load. It is his time. If he really wants to try it, is he going to be out more than a couple of hours. Maybe he decides he likes the challenge of shooting 3/8" groups at 100 yards with his ar. I know lots of guys that just work on load development because that is what they like to do.
Sandman, load up some rounds with the different powder charges(0.1gr or 0.3gr increments, you decide). Depending on how many you load this could take less than an hour. Go to the range and shoot each load for groups(another hour or two). At that point you can decide if you want to spend anymore time working up that load.

Good Shooting Keith. Sounds like Open is good to you.

P.S. I shot your old PTR-91 to 2nd place in Heavy Metal Limited at its 1st multigun match last month.

You know the stuff works pretty good for lubing brass for reloading too.

Placed a web site order for MG 230gr on Thursday, arrived at the UPS Store Saturday. Ordered some 230gr BBI about 10 days ago arrived at the UPS Store today. On my mail route if it won't fit in the mail box I get a note to go to the PO. At the UPS Store they ask if I would like a cart to take them out to my truck.
Really great service at 3 different places.
Come on Leroy, Montana Gold is like 2.5 hours from your door. I do like them as well though.

The donuts are exceeded only by the official Krispy Kreme pinup calender.
I gotta get me a pinup calendar with pictures of doughnuts!! I too love me some Krispy Kreme, but alas the store in our town closed 2 years ago. I purchased a dozen at the airport flying home from Tampa last Oct. When we went thru TSA they tried to confiscate as a bribe. Next time I fly out of Tampa, I will get an extra dozen for them.

My last order of 10k 200gr 45s came in several USPS flat rate boxes delivered by the postman(to my business address). My guess is that depending on who you order from they will probably ship in USPS flat rate boxes as that is the cheapest way to ship.

You mean directions like "just out past the Smith place, by the dog leg in the road on the west side" are not good directions?
