  1. I do not know about 4x4 plates at 300 yards, but I like the KNS Precision front sight posts. I run one on my PTR-91 and my armalite ar-15. The other day I was sighting in at 300 on a 6" sight and see and I put 4/5 on the plate. I am sure there are plenty of shooters who can shoot the irons better than that, but it is good enough for me.

On the PTR I am using the standard rear turret sight. On my AR I have the Matech flip up.

  2. Mark's way is the cheapest but there are places that sell caliber specific ammo gauges that check all demsions of your ammo without having to use the barrel. If you shoot the ammo out of several different guns then the gauges are the way to go.

....as long as the gauge is as tight or tighter than your tightest barrel.....

If you are running a tight chamber on a custom gun, just have the gunsmith ream a gauge for you. Then the gauge will match your barrell.

  3. I have a couple of gov. surplus flamables storage cabinets. They are double wall with external venting. I use one for rifle stuff and one for pistol. They are about 36Tx19Dx46L. They will hold plenty for me. I currently only have a little over a pound of powder and a few more than 1000 primers. ;)

Edited because I can not spell my name.

  4. they wouldn't ship to Canada!

Well that made me feel a bit better (NOT), they would not ship to Norway either.

(If by any chance someone attending the ERC has the possibility to bring along two sets, it would be much appreciated!)

So you guys know these parts are not Mcmaster Carr specific. I think the bearings I recieved were INA brand(but I will check on Monday). You can get the sizes from the original post and probably get a local bearing and drive shop to get them for you.

I will check my bearing boxes on Monday and see if they have original manuf part numbers and post.

  5. Why do you want to"level the playing field"? Are shooters complaining? Your situation sounds like our informal practice night. We set up a stage and just score it for hit factor accounting for minor or major power factor. I have seen shooters go buy a 40 cal gun because they got tired of getting a lower score with a 9mm production gun. What is the net effect? Nothing. If you are shooting a production gun, you are only competing against production shooters. Yur score will not be as high as an open shooter, and you should recognize that. I do not pretend to be competing against an open shooter when I am shooting single stack.

My suggestion to you is keep running like you are, but have the shooters list what division and or gun they are shooting. If you are doing a results sheet, you can list the gun/division next to each shooter so everyone can see how they compare to someone shooting a similar gun/division. If you are not doing a results sheet, do nothing. Keep it simple. and let people shoot what they want.

If you decide to run formal matches, make the jump to a governing body and follow their rules(USPSA, IPSC, IDPA)

  6. A couple years back my dad decided to help out the local can lady and haul her cans to the recycle center for her. She had been paying $15 a load to have them hauled, and he offered to do it for free. He gets all of the cans loaded, only to find out that she is not letting the cans out of her sight and is going with. He makes it about 3 blocks and has to pull the truck over and throw up. When all was said and done, he had to leave his truck windows down and air fresheners in it for over a month before the smell stopped bothereing him. Needless to say, someone else hauls them now.

  7. I run the Lee kit. For the price it is hard to beat. I also load my 300WM precision loads on the press. It does a great job for what it is.

For what 50bmg loaded rounds are going for, there is some money to be saved in reloading. I got some 690gr So. African bullets from wideners, and I got some new surplus 50 powder from Pats. Both were pretty reasonable considering. I have not loaded any of the surplus powder yet, but if nothing else it will be good for plinking.

  8. So do you carry IWB, SOB, or crossdraw shoulder with this?

Personally I am thinking an ankle holster is the way to go.

You must have some bell bottoms left over from the 70s. :roflol:

  9. Boy! Where to take this thread? I had better just let it go!

By the way I keep sunscreen in my range bag. I usually put it on before heading to the match, so I can wash my hands and get it off of them. I have let several people use some during matches.

  10. My Girlfriend burps loudly and I DON"T CARE!!!

I figure if the entire INTERNET knows this maybe she will believe me and stop asking me every single time she has to burp if I mind if she burps loudly.

Mods if you need to move this to the humor section later I will understand.

The fact that you thought posting this on the internet was in some way going to HELP you is puzzling! I hope for your sake that your instincts are better than mine! :D

  11. Our poppers have a d-ring welded onto the back about 12" from the bottom. Hook cable/chain whatever on and when the popper falls it pulls the cable/chain. We also have some horseshoe shaped pieces of rebar that can be driven into the ground for change of direction of the cable/chain if needed. Our swingers have the "stick" made out of metal welded to them with the hinge in it.

Hope this helps. I think there are alot of creative ways that activating has been acomplished. How you do it depends on what equipment your club has available. You might have foot activators available or something else to use.
