  1. Welcome to the forum From another MI Guy. Great expert advise here from all levels. No 2011’s for this old guy.... my old Bilby Guns were well talked about long ago....... Have fun! H
  2. I know this is old thread.... just fwiw.... I’ve chron’d pistol loads in brass and plated brass.... I’ve found that plated adds 5fps on average HHjr
  3. I fully agree to this statement.... case edge stands proud and Ruff in the pic. I don’t know Dillon stuff at all. I use Lee or Redding crimp dies in All cals to a nicely burnished edge with slight taper.... Very slight H
  4. Real nice post there Lots of insight there for the reloading masses! Well done H
  5. You left the word Tube out so..... NO!!!!!!! Drop quarters in to buffer TUBE Then Spring Then buffer. then see if buffer clears latch JUST enough to hold open.... if your gun does that..... H
  6. You are still swinging a hammer at a expensive piece.... vise blocks can slip, anyone can miss hit that nylon punch.....slide ends up on floor...... to each their own, it’s All good! i don’t swing a hammer at a truck steering knuckle Either.... I use the appropriate size ball joint/Pittman arm separator.... Different Strokes Different Folks H
  7. Non of these crimp numbers listed matter Unless you take the time to separate your brass as mentioned and can repeat the measuring location on the cases to a microscopic level .....and this for The Average reloader is just not even required. The probability of holding accuracy to One Tenthou is pretty lofty Set your separate crimp die to slightly turn in and burnish the case mouth .... that’s it Done And I’m done.... go For It Lady and gentlemen reloaders. Cheers! H
  8. Same springs Work perfectly in my Springfield XD40 Tactical ..... I run a 15# for minor.... can’t go Too lite for fear of Not going in to battery on the XD’s H
  9. Really ..... measuring to .0005 accurately consistently....?...... I just humbly say please stop. But say you can That’s cool but not necessary for this purpose H
  10. I can fully recommend Ramshot Competition for 45acp And 40sw. I’ve used it exclusively for Years in both cals.... much cheaper than N320 my old stand by Now that I don’t shoot nearly as often I am back to N320 H
  11. Check Comp-Tac’s site for fit! Top notch plastic!! H
  12. This pretty much ... plus a little......Stop trying to chase a crimp taper number of .xxx. Please! Set your stand alone crimp die so it just burnishes the case edge and Stop!!! You can see it as you rotate the round....... Everyone’s measurement will be different on how They hold their caliper.... please no numbers needed! H
  13. The one for $40 looks pretty good.... unless your slide is angled or stepped in any way..... I went with Fisher Sight Solutions pusher .... it is Very similar I chose their deluxe set with a boat load of angled aluminum blocks for diff slide profiles.... so far I’ve used it on HK USP, SIG p225 and SIG 10mm 1911. It’s rock solid and non maring H
  14. This right there..... black rear.... and Fixed! anything else is a distraction. I put a Dawson .100 wide fo front on a custom Caspian 45 build and went on to win Expert CDP state championship match. I feel fixed rear zero detriment to hitting.... regardless of bullet wt.... I reload and buy what’s the deal!!! this being reasonable pistol distances. Did the same exact thing on a XDTactical and won Expert ESP championship match next year. I once thought adjustable was required..... proved that Wrong. Once you find what works you not change..... neither does your H
  15. In a word.....No. I have a Delta and a custom Caspian build in 10mm Commander slide on Officers frame.... same load thru both guns and my splits are consistently quicker on the custom... Less mass moving and stopping and moving forward to a stop..... for the record my little 10 is a Bilby Pocket Rocket That has been well shown in this forum Years ago.... the gun is Still Perfect and tight .... now my shooting skills and eyesight is no where near good today.... but I’m Not dead and you can’t have this little 10!! H
  16. I have measured NI brass getting about 5fps more In velocity over plains brass... H
  17. This for sure! Best $$ you can spend on a mk 3 or 4!! Also on 3’s their bushing to get rid of mag safety and that’s only $10!!! H
  18. Neither my stock Colt 6450 or a 9mm pistol build I did on a Hahn dedicated block will reliably feed HP. My reloads Or Speer GD but I’m ok .... they are play guns and with fmj they are Very happy H
  19. Been reloading since mid 1980's.... reload at least a dozen cals and own a caliper.... never Ever thought of grabbing it to measure pistol rounds other than COL. Well once when my Brian Bilby 45 was stopping on certain brass reloads and I figured it out via caliper measurements. Many here Never heard of him I am old school. HHjr
  20. As one poster stated.... A-MERC brass stamp Reguardless cal Throw it Away !!

Update and a question for this thread ..... I agree that my uspc acted exactly as designed and my input was at fault. I actually still have this gun as the sale fell thru ..... Where are these V9 detent plate available? and will the same plate fit a KH date coded usp? Or am I stuck on the old model? I also have a newer competition that sits in V1 that I would like to change to a safety lever v9 Thanks HH

FWIW .... I recently shot an indoor IDPA match w/ my V1 USP40c.... had a low light stage back stepping strong arm only engaging a drop turner ..... a well done dramatic stage.... @ buzzer I grab gun and push it out and hit the de-cock lever enough the gun does Not shoot ..... time seemed to stop, hammer then drops after more pressure.... as I continued to retreat I did get one perfect center hit on the target before it turned ..... Now, I have had this hk since 2002 and Knew this could happen and THOUGHT i COULD CONTROL IT .... I guess this is why HK makes several different variations ...... Anyway I used it as a excuse to sell the gun rather than get a different set of internal parts. I will keep my V1 Competition USP playgun.... that scenario really opened my eyes to get your operating system squared perfectly so muscle memory (or maybe in my case involentary reflex ???)carries you on to the next day . I must admit to shooting custom 1911's, sigS AND xd'S ..... Two handed no problem with any of them ..... H
  23. Here is my humble comment ........ It is very important to load OAL less than touching lands. Too long a OAL and you are struggling to get that live round out of the chamber. You must be able to reliably extract a live round on demand over a wide range of conditions .... Home, Range, IDPA/IPSC, failure drills.... all require unload and proceed/show clear to make your gun ready to stay in the fight or safe to put away. I have two 9mm pistols and a Colt R6450 Carbine ... a OAL for the pistols cause a very difficult live round extraction in the carbine...... I have actually had to fire a live round in to the backstop at a carbine match because I could Not get the round out of the chamber..... HATE to have that happen when a misfire is in the chamber and a bad guy with a pipe is wanting to bash my head in. Ofcourse ones handloads Should Not be in the gun but I hope you get my point. Do your research and stick to OAL that are tested to maintain safe working pressures and safe functionality requirement. H
  24. I should of admitted Shooterready that I indeed did tank that target rather then saying the entire stage. I shot the rest of that stage very well. .... That one swinging target is the only thing I can fault (yes dissapointed) in a very nice match. I was ill and literally puked out of last years monsoon match. I have shot 5 of the ten MI State matches. The stage was not unsafe ... well, extremely unsafe for the swinging hostage. Waiting 8 secongs just to get 2 mikes on that target added a ton of time. Maybe I should of got my two hits in the -0 thru the NT and made it look as I bobbed the muzzle back and forth a bit to convince the SO I was properly engaging the threat.....That was not the intent of the stage designer I am sure but it would of shaved a ton of time off. Now if I had been shooting IPSC Open division for the last 20 years maybe I would of been up to that shooting challenge. I could not pull the trigger on the sliver of a bobing head .... my own fault and decision. Yes, that one target kicked my ass. Maybe I was just unlucky ... I match directed IPSC for nearly 10 years ... currently I co-direct IDPA with shooter eel...That one sliver of a bobing headshot target was simply rediculous, and not in the Spirit of IDPA. Yes, disappointed. I understand the amount of work that goes in to IPSC and IDPA and I appreciate all the clubs coming together to put on this fine match. Overall It was very well done. Thank You to all those that worked for us. Even if I could routinely pull that shot off I would Not include that exact swinging target in one of my stages. If you can look down the stats after a match and can see different levels of shooters dinged like crazy with penalties then you have to ask yourself was that a proper shooting challenge even if it is completely safe. Does not the shear number of replies this thread has received cast a huge shadow of doubt on this stage ?? Harold Hovey
