Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I shoot a Glock 27, in IDPA & USPSA production, and it is my primary carry gun during the warmer months of the year. During the cooler months, I transition to a Glock 20 for carry and shoot limited w/it. Shooting the guns I carry, makes the matches just that much funner. Good shooting, Jay
  2. RangerE32, I also made the transition from SIG to Glock; my case a P226 to a G34, in 1999. Stick w/it; it only gets better. ..where you a Ragnar out of Regt? Jay Shebuski A 1/75 84-86
  3. ..a double tap, from one of the other threads here. But, I shoot what I carry...a Glock 27 or a 20. I shoot the monthly matches, and maybe a State IDPA match, once a year. Great opportunites to learn new skills by watching and asking some of the more skilled shooters "how's you do that?" -HA. Good shooting. Jay
  4. I shoot IDPA/GSSF/IPSC w/the guns I carry: -summer; Glock 27 -fall/cooler weather; Glock 20 Seems to make the most sense and actually makes it funner for me to shoot. Jay
  5. Rich, If your military, some gun shops will give you the mil/LE price for a Glock they have on the counter, which is a pretty good deal. If your deploying..there are also, quite a few 19s being used, in Iraq; pass downs from RIP/TOA units & other units that have been issued them. I won't go into who has them etc, but not a bad idea to get a 19 pre-deployment to train on and possibly pick one up in theatre, persuant to your commander. Jay
  6. Big K, ..welcome to the club! I'm just starting in USPSA also, not a Marine..rather Army & still in. These USPSA/IPSC guys definately have this art form down (HA). I only wish SOMEONE had introduced it to me when I first came in..in the early 80s. I learned, perhaps like you, that we were 20 yrs behind these cats and I didn't even know it. Just wanted to congratulate you on having an "open mind", as many of us get schooled @ our 1st match and then never come back. I'm working on a production rating now myself and plan to enter Limted w/a Glock 20 soon, when I develope the load. Wish you the best...good shooting, Jay
  7. Ghost, I carry a Glock 20C w/double tap 180 gr Gold Dots. I love the gun, but I have also taken the time to shoot it quite often. ...shooting a .40 180 gr Gold Dot @ 1250 fps and getting the muzzle rise similar to a 9mm 124gr @ 1150 is a definate bonus..for me. I also have a Glock 20 and have been able to do the comparison work between the 2 guns. ..they're "both" loud (HA). Hearing protection is a good thing to have. ..the C model does not blind me @ night. ..the "bad guy" also does not know my gun is ported, which i can use as an advantage. Recommend you try a C model, then make the choice of what you want. Good Shooting, Jay
  8. RSO, New guy here. I tried shooting Precision 9mm bullets through my 34. They shot GREAT, but I noticed a build-up of, should I say plastic/polymere, in the barrel. The stuff wouldn't come out when using a bronze brush or Hoppes. I ended up using a circular cut green scratch pad on a push-tip... but it was definately there...and tough to get out. I wrote the manufacturer and asked them if they had identified the same thing, in Glocks, and whether in their opinion this would raise chamber pressures and possibly cause a problem. ..they didn't respond and I stopped using the bullets. I know there are quite a few guys running precision bullets in their Glocks,..and as I said, they shot great. I just stopped using them after I noted the build-up as I didn't want to get hurt or ruin my gun. Jay
  9. Chuck New guy here on the forum, but I shoot a 27 in IDPA/GSSF. I use 22 mags for reloads, but I start w/the 27 mag (ie 9 rd) w/a peirce +1 mag extension (ie gives me 10 rds). If the stage has multiple strings, I will have to start w/a 22 or 19 mag, in the gun, on the later strings. I've gotten some funny looks @ a couple State IDPA matches, from ROs, and had 1 individual make a point that I should be shooting ESP, instead of SSP, w/that set-up. Not alot of us "little gun" shooters out there, so sometimes you have to talk to the RO, if there is a question. I usually carry my rule book around w/me. So far it's worked. Good shooting, Jay
