  1. Sounds like I need to step up my commitment level this spring.
  2. @lastcat, thanks for the encouragement. Unfortunately, the closest USPSA Matches to me are at least an hour away.
  3. Thank you for taking the time to do a review on your initial impression of the new Atlas magazines. Do you have an update on how it runs after taking it out to the range? Thank you again.
  4. I get that it is a 2011 issue. When I wrote to AGW and asked about it, I was surprised to see that the response was the person never heard about it. Hence, I was curious if AGW has done anything different to mitigate the issue. All the responses that has been provided has been highly educational. Thank you for responding.
  5. This response is reassuring as I won't be "Hulk" smashing any mags when reloading. Happy New Year! Thankyou TRPOperator. I have both the 126 and the 140 mags. I imagine I will be a bit careful with the 140mm when doing reloads and get a feel for the firearm in general. I may end up getting a Nyx next. How do you like it and is there another firearm that is comparable to the Nyx? Do you use it both for carry and competition?
  6. Is it a good idea to have slide lock capabilities on my firearm, but have the 140mm mags not have the slide lock function? Would this give me the flexibility to shoot with slide lock in the future by just changing to mags that have slide lock should I desire to do so? I am not a competitive shooter, but am considering IDPA in the future. Thank you.
  7. RangerTrace, thank you for your input. How does an aluminum or steel grip help with over insertion? I appreciate you sharing your insights.
  8. Thank you everyone for the responses. CHA-LEE, is there a base pad that works with the Atlas 140mm mags that bottoms out on the grip before it over inserts into the ejector?
  9. I am curious if anyone has any experience with magazine over insertion n Atlas Gunworks pistols while the slide is locked back. I asked AGW about it and the representative said he has never heard of the issue and I should not be concerned about ordering a pistol with slide lock back function. This is my first 2011 pistol. I have read older posts of 2011 style guns with ejectors broken due to reloading while the slide is locked back. Has 2011 manufacturers corrected this issue? I would love to hear from those with Atlas Gunworks pistols and slide lock back functions enabled to chime in about their experience and if it is an issue that is overblown. Thank you very much and happy new year to all.
  10. As a shooter, I appreciate the different drills that are posted. I have never done competitive shooting so I am unfamiliar with all these drills.
  11. Thank you for the welcome. I created this account and got super busy with life. Cheers and may you all have a happy Thanksgiving.
  12. Thank you for all the responses and helping a noobie learn some stuff. As with anything, it sounds like learning and executing the fundamentals is paramount to other secondary attributes.
  13. Have you noticed a large difference over time on your ability to control recoil and muzzle flip with the improvement in strength?
  14. Thanks. That is some practical experience that gives me some clarity along with your analogy.
  15. MuayThaiJJ, I appreciate the analogy with hammering and nails. So do you apply the different grip pressure with each gun or is it more a function of different grip techniques? Thank you.
  16. I imagine I need stronger hands and better grip techniques to control recoil more effectively. Thank you for your input.
  17. Thank you for those videos. This gave me and understanding of why Intheshaw1 mentioned rubber bands in his comments. I have never worked out those support muscles so I imagine my grip strength may be weak. Glad I did not go nuts on the crush grippers before watching the videos and get tendonitis.
  18. Thank you for that tip. I will be conscientious of that next time I shoot.
  19. I am interested in learning about the shooting scene in Spokane as well. I could be wrong, but it does not seem like a big one. Sharp Practical Shooters (affiliated USPSA) holds a pistol match the fourth Sunday of every month.
  20. Hello, I have been doing some research on Atlas Gunworks for a potential 2011. The various videos mentioned that certain models perform better within a particular range of grip pressure. How does one evaluate grip strength when holding a pistol? Additionally, do any of you do anything to improve your grip strength or do you just shoot and gain strength as you go? Thanks for your help.
  21. Thanks for passing along your experience. I am not sure if I will ever get into competitive shooting, but it sounds really fun.
  22. New member here. I am still saving for a 2011. Current plan is any leftover money from our monthly budget gets split between my wife and I for our blow money. It is coming along nice and slow. The challenge is not to spend any of the money on items that goes on sale for other hobbies.
