  1. Do you have a small base sizing die that you can try to see if that will make a difference?
  2. You might talk to Glock to see if the chamber is in spec. It may need a new barrel.
  3. As a footnote, there are 10mm cases being made with small primer pockets, so if you are loading 10mm you will need to inspect and sort as needed.,
  4. What interests your son? Is he interested in competition? Competition is (can be) year-round while hunting is seasonal. Which would see you and he spending the most time together? I would lean to competition as allowing more overall time together between practice and matches.
  5. HI - welcome aboard. Perhaps better in the "Introduce Yourself" section. Where in Texas are you?
  6. How wide are your thumb paddles? They must be wide. My standard width paddles have not been a problem.
  7. I don't know all the details of the ammunition you are using, but with a 115gr FMJ with a BC of 0.140 and velocity of 1135, the numbers for 50 yards look to be. Trajectory Zero 40 50 Yards PoI PoI 0 -0.5 -0.5 10 0.1 0.2 20 0.3 0.6 25 0.4 0.7 30 0.3 0.7 40 0.0 0.5 50 -0.6 0.0 So take your pick. Both should allow essentially holding center at each range.
  8. I understand that, and, hopefully, they will have some of the old stuff. It has been a few years, however.
  9. IU thought STI International was no more. Replaced by Stacatto or some such.
  10. Without running any numbers, the 40 yard zero does not sound bad. Zero from a bench to eliminate as many variables as you can. Then, verify offhand.
  11. I'd like the 2011 frame certificae.

    Please let meknow details.

    Thanks.

Thank you, Guy! I sent you a text message. Please let me know if you didn't receive it, and I'll follow up here. Thanks, Travis

  12. Remember - the only person you are really competing with is yourself. You need to strive to shoot your ability - the other divisions do not count. If you are not happy with your present ability, that's where dry fire and practice come into play.
  13. Check the Springfield Armory Loaded Model. It doesn't have everything you want, but it's got good features for the price.
  14. I'm not certain ANY brass was designed to be reloaded. Even when sold as cases you could argue that you load them as reloading is only after they have been fired. A commercial brass processor should cull any unusable cases - those with tears, cracks, mangled. Bottle-neck cases have some additional considerations than straight wall cases, but pose no special problems regarding using them for reloading. They will need trimming periodically and you need to be certain to set the shoulder back a bit to facilitate chambering. Semi-auto guns may require different sizing than bolt guns. Get some of the cases. If you have questions, check with experienced reloaders in your group or ask questions here. Read the rifle reloading section of your manual(s).
  15. Many Open division shooters load the 9mm Luger to meet Major power factor. They are over normal 9mm Luger specifications and should not be used in other guns not set up for the higher pressure. Plus, I believe Open is the only division they would be scored as Major, so no other division has need of them. I have not looked at +P or +P+ specs of late, but I do not think they will meet Major requirements. You may want to expand your question to give more details of what you are looking for.
  16. Most "rimless" cases have the rim diameter a bit larger than the body diameter. The 45 Auto rim is about 0.004" larger than the body diameter per the SDAAI drawing.
  17. I'm not aware of any that are not doing the job. I've generally used Redding, RCBS and Dillon. These days it may be more of what you can find.
  18. Vihtavuori 3N38 is a suitable powder for loading the 38 Super to Major power factor. 3N37 and N350 have also been popular.
  19. The 38 Super has a semi-rimmed case. The SuperComp makes it a true rimless for improved feeding. The same dies for each of them as nobly the shell holder will change.
  20. Something of an oddball gun it would seem. I have both custom and stock guns, ands they all feed the H&G 68.
  21. Not all SWC's are created equal. However, it is my understanding that the H&H 68 SWC was designed to match the contact points of a 230gr RN. It has proven very reliable over the years. If a gun will not reliably feed a properly loaded H&G 68 SWC, I would consider having the gun fixed.
  22. Once upon a time there were single stack 30 round magazines available. Almost could be used as a monopod. I'd hate to think of working against that spring when loading it.
