  1. No socks or shoes , gotta have the toe dexterity to feel those stupid yellow rope ground fault lines .
  2. Maybe one should not assume a match is running on USPSA rules before opening their mouth and shoving there foot in it .
  3. I've shot on the silhouette range at Whittington, on days when the large, 30lb rams on the 500m line were blowing off the steel bases and those same rams will not go down with 223 hits. And here i was thinking that centerfire 22's , 223 , were prohibited on the silhouette range at NRAWC , did they change the rule in the last 5 months because the sign was still up last Sept ?
  4. If reholstering a hot handgun and slinging an empty let alone hot long gun is so dangerous that the unwashed common folk cannot accomplish the task how come for 20 + years at the SOF match , arguably the genesis of 3gum , it was standard procedure ? Any one that shot the match will tell you the shooters were pretty much evenly split between competitors and tactical wannabe goofs . By the reasoning here there should have been casualties every year but there wasn't a single one in it's whole run .
  5. COMPETITION DYNAMICS presents The 2012 COMBAT BIATHLON SERIES Periodically held near Douglas, Wyoming This match is a biathlon-style race that includes movement over land (run, hike, snowshoe, or ski based on weather conditions) in conjunction with practical shooting challenges. This match consists of three hour-long field stages, two night stages, and six "assault" stages. The rest of the details are available on the MATCH WEB SITE Some quotes from 2011 competitors: "Hoser" Freeman - This has got to be one of the funnest and toughest matches I have ever shot. Mike and I finished each field course completely drenched in sweat and heart pounding. Trying to find that wall of how hard to push movement and still being able to settle in to shoot was a great challenge. The night stages were deceptively tough and the assault stages were brutal and fun. The prize table was awesome. Hard to imagine it was all set up well into well after most all companies had done their budgets for the year. Huge thanks to all the companies that supported this match and us shooters. The scoring was perfect. No issues, no drama. I cant wait for next year. Bring it. Mike Kolar (SRM Match Director) - "I'm really excited about this match -- I want to shoot it again right now!" FCB on SnipersHide.com - "This was by far the best match I've ever been to and the best test of a rifleman that I've seen." Quickdraw40 on SnipersHide.com (Team Pro Plate) - "We are lucky in Colorado (Wyoming/Northern New Mexico area) to have venues such as the Blue Steel Ranch. We are also lucky we have persons (Thunderbeast/Competition Dynamics team) who are willing to take the time to organize and run such matches. No square range shooting here folks and you better be in shape. If you have shot Steel Safari, this was like Steel Safari on crack with super cool side matches thrown in for fun. Organized well, no drama, super quick scoring, and an amazing prize table. Thank you to Zak, Ray, Dave, Loraine, Jeff, and all of the ROs. It was a great time!" 8. sport jumps typically go to 14,000 ft agl ,typical military halo jumps go out at 12,500 agl and why would the landing be any different with the same style parachute usually a 9cell square
  9. I have prsonally seen log books in the 7-8000 range and these were all sport jumps and not the ones our govt. paid them to do , 10,000 is a quite achievable number there are some of the competion jumpers in th 20-30,000 range
  10. sorry buddy but at the sport club @ Ft Campbell with your own rig it was not uncommon to get 10 - 12 jumps in a weekend and the guy's from 5th Group said in halo school it was 7 - 10 jumps a day because they would land and pick up a new rig and get back on the aircraft as to the bad knees landing with a square chute is like stepping off a curb when done right
  11. that's strange because Jack told us during set up we should look out for snakes because there were a " ton of snakes back in there"
  12. check riggerjj's post in this thread # 177 I guess mabye Wayne the program director just did not bump into him either
  13. just got back from spending the 5th through the 13th down at Whittington for 2 other matches and saw this , while down there sat. the 5th , which did not rain by the way , the program director , Wayne , asked myself and the other shooter Iwas with if we had heard anything from RM3G , we told him we did not have anything to do with them any more and the he told us there had been no contact with RM3G since the match last year by phone , email , or in person we spent the whole next week setting up another match and never saw Blaine one time and we were all over both the front and back side of the center just for your info , but every shooter that I know and shoot with on a regular basis is either not helping with the match any more or not shooting this year
  14. "BTW, anyone see the second super squad (2) not winding up shooting stage 12 at the end of the day on Saturday as scheduled? Note that super squad 1 is scheduled to be on the LD rifle stage (12) at 9am on Sunday. Guess which is a better time for still wind conditions. Any bets this disparate supersquad LD rifle stage schedule changes before the match is over?" of course they will how did George Orwell put it ? some pigs are more equal than others
  15. 243 with a high b.c. bullet and approx. 3200 - 3400 mv has a ballistic path better than a 338 lapua with no recoil in a short action package , huge differance in ukd and the wind , barrel life straight from GAP is less than 900 rds with a std 243 not the AI
  16. same primers that pmc used to import , there is quite a following with the palma and benchrest shooters , go to the rifle site and look around
