Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Here's another great thread on how to get started in Practical Shooting. This is what I read before my first match. Even had the thread starter guide myself and a few others through our first match. http://sigforum.com/groupee/forums/a/tpc/f...935/m/531103825 From what I remember of the range commands 1) "Shooter do you understand the Course of Fire?" 2) "Clear to handle, Load and Make Ready" 3) "Nod when ready" 4) "Shooter is ready, Standby" 5) OPTIONAL: "Stop" or "Freeze" 6) "Shooter, if you are finished, unload and show clear" 7) "Gun is clear, slide forward, hammer down, and holster" 8) "Range is clear" 9) "Time _____"
  2. I'm new too and definitely prefer the Beltslide instead of the paddle.
  3. Hi all, Figured I might as well register since I've been so addicted to USPSA these month and a quarter. I never thought I would get into USPSA, but instead I've become heavily addicted to the sport. I shoot at the Norco Running Gun's USPSA matches held by Jojo, so I'm sure I've seen quite a few of you guys on the range. I got started by getting a email from another member over on SIGForum, Eyon posted a huge "How to get started into practical shooting" thread. I expressed interest, and he invited me to go with him and the group as a new shooters group. He taught us how to be safe on the course, how to engage targets and basically the fundamentals of practical shooting. Of course we have Dennis who has given us invaluable information, with his morning "clinics" before the match. He has taught me a lot also, almost to the point of being overwhelmed by how much I just don't know... My first match I got to meet Mike Voight, and saw him again this past saturday May 6th... Taran Butler was nice enough to show us "how its done" as he ran an extra course of fire after he finished his stage. John joined us last time, with his crazy 627 and moonclips galore all on his belt. As you can imagine, since I was running against some of the fastest Grand Masters, I was initially intimidated. But I've turned that to getting some great advice. I've definitely seen that I have much more to learn, and I hope I have the time (and funds) to make myself a much better shooter. Its been a long time when I was excited again about something. I'm very glad I took the offer given to me. It has gotten me into the sport, as well as being given the chance to meet a lot of fantastic people. If you shoot at Norco on a regular basis, you've probably seen me. I'm usually on Eyon's group. Stop by and say hi, or even give me some much needed advice on how I can become a better practical shooter. I'm always willing to learn! I got my gear on order, my gun ready and lubed and eagerly awaiting my next match. I've gone 3 weeks straight now! I'm hoping they start the single stack division, since I'm getting owned in Limited 10! I'm here to learn guys and gals... any tips you guys have, feel free to tell me. Otherwise, I'll be happily reading around. I can't wait for the next match...
