Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I checked the Open scores and Stage 4 is not included in the totals and the order of finish appears correct. If you are talking about the combined scores, I don't think those were used to determine the order of finish. I actually came out higher on that list (10th instead of 11th in Open). The combined scores are slightly different because the 100% shooter from each stage could be from any division. Doug I stand corrected. This is exactly why I try not to talk.
  2. Has anyone else noticed that the final order of finish is with stage 4 included? The final scores have been updated without stage 4, but the order was never changed.
  3. I want to start off by saying FHN does deserve an "A" for effort. They are really stepping up to the plate and putting this sport on the map. What was with the FTN penalty? I was charged 5 seconds all day on Friday(not that I missed much). The next day on Stage 2 I was charged 10 sec. for FTN on a paper and 5 seconds for turning a plate side ways. I could of sworn the match director said 5 seconds for FTN in the shooters meeting. The match was fun other than the gray areas and the MUD . I'm not sure why it was crammed into two days. The shooters were getting preety punchy by 6pm on Saturday after 11 hours of being on the range( I won't get into details about that ). No surprise we didn't have more DQs. BTW anybody know how many shooters were DQ'd?
  4. Had fun. Thanks to all who RO'd and helped out. Thanks to all who donated time and prizes. As always I learned a lot. Just to add to the constructive thinking. I was within ear shot when a shooter asked an RO how come he didn't call hits on a flasher that was hit four times before it flashed. The RO said that you have to hit the target high. He explained that you can't hit it on the sides or hit it low because it wouldn't flash. Clearly this is incorrect and shouldn't have been said. I also saw long range plates get hits and not go down. Yet it wasn't considered a hit until it went down. We can't treat the pistol targets and rifle targets as the same as the shotgun targets, even if they are the same square plates. It is not realistic to expect someone to hit a spun plate with a pistol.
  5. "Way to go piasters. Let's hear for the piasters. Yeah piasters." Wow, he gives a new meaning to Great! R.O. Very up lifting. Couldn't imagine it without him.
  6. No it's not new. I tried the Laser Cast 200grn LSWC and I also experienced leading with that bullet. I still have about 800 of those. I've loaded that bullet with Clays, Universal Clays and Unique. All with the same results. The barrel is not worn by any means and why would that matter? Excuse my ignorance if that's a stupid question.
  7. Good luck with that. I just spent two hours cleaning lead out of my Springfield's barrel. I was using the 230grn RNFPs and 3.8 grn of Clays. Anybody else seen this?
  8. Thanks for the help. I also recieved a pm with the instructions. Thanks very much for your help. I just loaded fifty rounds and I love this scale.
  9. Does anyone know how to calibrate the Pact Digital Precision Powder Scale? I bought one today and get it home and find that the owners manual didn't make it in the box. Pact's web site has a link for manuals but it's not working. Cabella's (where I bought it) is 45min. away and I realy don't want to make another round trip today.
  10. I know I'm new here and have only one 3 gun match to speak of but I would like to comment on this concern. I initially entered my first 3 gun in the Heavy Metal class because I had a .308, .45 ACP and a pump 12ga. I did this because I though that the crowd would be less and I'd have a better chance at winning. Boy! was I wrong. That's a hard class to compete in. I actually thought about getting out of heavy metal and going into another class, one that I could compete in. Then I started reading here among you pro's and started to understand what the Heavy Metal class was originally about and a sense of pride came over me. I decided to start training so I could at least run in the pack at my next match. I wanted to be "Hard Core" Heavy Metal is about "Old School" weapons from an era when the gun world started to become something. It's about "Old School" attitude and know how. Atleast that's the way I read it. How can it be Heavy Metal with a scope on the .308(stretching it.) and a semi-auto 12ga.(stretched beyond belief)??? JMHO.
  11. I'm late but wanted to say thanks again to some guy's from Minnesota (and Wisconsin ). Just so you guy's know there is a training plan in effect and I will not be in last place in the Heavy Metal class next year. Great time, great people, and great sponsors. This will not be the only annual match I attend. That's right guys and gals. Another one hooked.
