Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Well I think I did the most sensible thing and found a decent deal on a used ta44 and jumped on it. I will probably just end up running the razor on match days and use the ta44 as a utility optic that goes from home to home on all my rifles. Thanks for all the help guys you have all helped answer all my questions!
  2. Thanks for your reply. I read on the LDF website that most targets are within 300yds but on an occasion there are targets at 400 and even more seldom a 600yd plate. It appears that those targets are slightly larger than 4 moa. One of the reasons I’m looking to switch is the weight. With everything loaded up my rifle is pushing 11lbs and the rifle just feels porky. I’ve done the same with a lighter Ar-15 in the past and a S&b short dot and it too felt a bit unwieldy compared to just a rifle with a red dot. The second reason is the fish eye and the edge distortion I’ve found on the razor is a bit more noticeable to me that other optics. I understand that this issue probably becomes nonexistent once I get more time behind the optic but none the less the thought lingers in my head. I’m by no means saying that the razor is a lesser quality optic, however to my eye I am picking up on little subtleties that I hadn’t noticed in other optics. I think I may just sit tight on changing optics until I’ve run my first match as I’ve seen in many forums that the razor is considered one of the better options for 3-gun. From there if I feel the need to still swap to probably just move over to an Aimpoint or such given the 1.5x optic wouldn’t really give me any edge and may actually be a setback.

  4. Hello everyone. I am gearing up for my first 3 gun match with Linea de Fuego out here in SoCal/San Diego and I have a question about optics. I have a Jp-15 set up with a Vortex razor 1-6 currently but am considering switching to a Trijicon ta44 (1.5x) to save weight and get rid of batteries as this is also a double duty gun. Would the 1.5 power mag keep me in TacOps or could I move down to TacIrons? I’m just trying to figure out if the .5 of extra magnification would keep me from competing with those set up with red dots and the likes there of. I’m not particularly in love with the razor E model but also don’t have a ton of time behind it either. Thanks in advance ! John
  5. Gotcha I’ll move it over there. Thanks

  7. I’ve heard of the Norco guys. I’ll take a look at their schedule on practiscore. Most of the guys who introduced me to my first uspsa match usually shoot there too. Thanks for the addition guys ! I’m excited to get more into matches as I love shooting in BLM but after a while without any structure to shooting it kind of becomes mundane and a waste of ammo and I end up buying and selling guns that tend to be more impractical and my skills never really increase.
  8. Hello Everyone my name is John. This is my first post here but have been a lurker for a while. I am from San Diego, CA and have been shooting recreationally since a teen. I’ve never really been a competitive shooter but have done a uspsa match back in 2016 or so and still have great memories of that day. It is my intention to get more into shooting matches with a local group called linea de fuego. I’ve owned quite a few firearms over the years but this time around Ive sold most of them to fund 3 gun equipment like firearms and lots of reloading equipment to keep the babies fed. I look forward to hearing from the likes of you all and hope to see you guys out there from time to time ! John
