Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Well Done MCRACCO!! I am looking forward to building this as well! I think I will take a couple of ideas from other photos and add a place for additional powder measures! Great simplicity but yet VERY Functional and sturdy!
  2. I have the same issue on a W7 machine. DITTOS HERE TOO!! No Video just sound. I also re-installed the latest Quicktime. Any other suggestions?????
  3. WOW Paul!! Thank you so much for all of your expertise in recording and uploading the matches!! You are very talented! However, since you are shooting the Open/L10 you need to focus on YOUR MATCH and not worry too much about the videos. This IS THE NATIONALS!!! Thank you again for all of your videos...AWESOME!!!
  4. Looks like IPSC server is down during lunch time Central time Zone!!?? Just wanted to confirm squad and confirm any changes.
  5. Thank you so very much! Locally that was our understanding but for all of us going it will be our first IPSC Nationals! Thank you again, and see you at the range!!
  6. After reading the IPSC Rules I am still wanting to get confirmation regarding open division. Does the grip safety have to be in working condition for IPSC. Second question, just want to confirm that my USPSA membership qualifies for IPSC.
  7. In all of my dealings with various online vendors, Sean Gaines at Power Factor Shooting has always been one of the most professional! His knowledge has been very helpful on many occasions! He provides quality products at competitive prices and shipments have always been fast and safely packaged! Gabe, if you are having a bad personal day don't take it out on someone in this public fashion! As all other posts have indicated you chose the wrong company to declare "BEWARE"!! Any future posts by you will always raise a red flag to fellow competitors as your opinions don't matter much anymore.
  8. I fly primarily the southern states...Florida, Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and I have found that American and Southwest have very basic firearm requests that have been easy to follow. As stated prior, Never use TSA locks. A quote from SWA on locks.."Only the Customer checking the luggage should retain the key or combination to the lock. No exceptions will be made." I have used on several occasions my range bag as my carry-on. I used to be afraid of the swab test but it has NEVER indicated anything! Makes me happy but also concerned at the same time!! Hard shell Pelican case placed inside a regular suitcase or stand alone. Both ways have worked and I make that decision based upon how much gear I need to take. Many times I have a suitcase for just the gear. I do keep a copy of the firearm guidelines of the FAA and the specific airline I am flying. NOT to get into an argument but to have in case a question arises and it helps to speed things along. Arrive early and be very professional and polite and you shouldn't have any problems. However, as stated by others...the Northeast has some "Gotcha Loopholes" that may give you a free ride to the Fed's Farm!
  9. Just waiting on my pin number so I can squad up!! Looking forward to another terrific match at the DTR!!!
  10. Having read the entire postings on this thread it is very obvious that accidents do happen in the competitive world of firearms. Most of the incidents are showing the shooters only 10 yards from the steel. I know this is the "legal minimum" but if common sense was to prevail we would move it back. I personally shoot a 38 super comp 115g JHP traveling up to 1,500fps. If possible I never engage plate racks/poppers under 15 yards. This does two things. #1..It keeps an added room of safety in case of ricochet and #2..It allows me to train at the longer distance and if a match has steel at a closer range then I know I won't miss!! I admit to having had several ricochet hits on different parts of my face and body. Most of these were from other shooters and NOT due to steel but rather rock and debris found and collected over time in the berm itself and target stands. I agree with all of the posts regarding having trauma kits available and training given on the use of such products. Use common sense when using steel and plan/train for the accidents that can arise. Accidents can, do, and will always happen whether we are playing golf, flying airplanes, driving cars, making pancakes, or as strange as it may sound....shooting firearms. Let's not make everything illegal just because it poses a risk. In an accident your small Prius would just be a coffin. But you still drive it to work and stuff your family in it at highway speeds on vacations! Hmm...maybe there ought to be a law?
  11. Robert Porter draws up the stages for Jimmy and posts them. With Double Tap being so close this year, it'll probably be pretty close to the match before they're posted. Talked to Artie today 6/23 and she said the stages have been sent for uploading and will be uploaded today or tomorrow 6/24.
  12. Please Houston weather man, send the rain to West Texas!! Too many fires due to extreme low humidity with high winds and heat! Love the look of the stages and can't wait to compete!
  13. I don't tumble after loading, so no issue there.... At the recommendation of my gunsmith (Brazos) I use either a .356 Zero 125 JHP or a .356 125 FMJ. I too prefer to tumble after wards to get the gummy lube off. It seems to keep the Big Stick running with less chance for jams. The media that gets into the nose of a JHP doesn't have a major influence on trajectory (at least at the average yards IPSC uses), but it can come off and jam up your slide or even get in and round your extractor or firing pin which can make for a very bad day!! Zero is way behind in production at this time so many people that shoot Zero are looking for alternatives. Good luck in your bullet selection and your decision to tumble or not to tumble! Tim
  14. Terry, You bringing any other West Texans with you. Midland was a former stomping ground for about 15 years. Bill Lubbock is sending some of its finest to this match!! Some are on Rudy Projects team and others are spread out amongst the masses to keep it fair! LOL !!! Seriously, we are looking forward to a great match! Stages look incredible and I can't wait to shoot a Polish Plate Rack for the first time!! Tim
