  1. I load 45 ACP on a 550. No where near as much as you guys. I have picked up some things that have kept me out of trouble. One basic for me is to use Dillon sizing dies If using a Dillon powder measure. I did have some minor sticking problems related to the powder funnel/expander. I found out the Dillon had an improved 45 ACP funnel that is shorter. Problems with sticking went away. Mating sizing die and new powder funnel ended problems. Finally, I use an elderly C&H taper crimp die. I like these dies because of ease of adjustment.. I use 200gr. RCBS personally cast lead SWC bullet. Feeds good and is extremely accurate. These rounds were used mostly for informal Bullseye matches. These loads run flawlessly through my stock as a door knob Colt made old style Combat-Target 1911-the low end model.
  2. I have been using 550's for many years. I have three measures. These are current models. I was merrily loading along the other evening. There was some resistance lowering the handle. Powder came pouring out of the measure around the charge bar. What had happened is the plastic plug had broken and spacer had come loose. Fortunately, there was not much powder in the measure. I called Dillon. Rep was too slammed to discuss broken plug. He very quickly put in an for two replacement plastic plugs. He would not allow me to give him card number to order #2 buttons. Two were included with the plastic plugs. That spacer is stationary and the plug holds it in place. Something much have hit that spacer hard enough to break the plug. Nothing else looks broken. I was able to replace the Accurate #2 at a semi-ripoff price. Installed another measure and finished out my 200 wadcutter loads in 38 Special. That spacer goes and the measure will empty. Figured what to do after the fact. Push the spacer back into place. Rocket Science.
  3. I'd try another cartridge gauge. That Hundo thing looks like a boondoggle. Die's just don't go bad. Might help to know what caliber gun you are using. Is this once fired brass from another gun? Have you had trouble chambering your rounds from the very first? Is this a recent even. It would be helpful if you gave some more information. One of the benefits of the push through is that is sizes the entire. My Redding push through does 357 SIG, 40 S&W and 10mm with no problems. I use single cartridge gauges on these rounds. You may experiment with you taper crimp portion of you set it if the problem is in loaded rounds.
  4. I'd google OP's Hundo case gauge. Looks like we were thinking of gauge the did a single cartridge. This thing on the net did one hundred at a time. Might do well to see if the cases failed in the same hole in this hundred round gauge. I see boondoggle in this thing. I use the Redding push through die with no problems.
  5. I load bunches of lead bullets. When loaded rounds fail, I always have to look for lube buildup in my gauge. The devil is in the details.
