  1. There's an actress with the same last name, even spelled the same. She pronounces it Seven-e I don't know how David pronounces it, but....... Glockn...
  2. Erik, Just thought that you were trying for too much speed with the 69gr. I don't want to hear of any KB's. Sorry that I can't help with the req'd data. I only work with 748 and 322. Never needed to go anywhere else. Good luck, Bert
  3. Eric, I've been using the starting load of 26gr of 748 behing a 55gr Rem SPBT. I'm getting 2875fps and great accuracy from a 20" AR. No accuracy problems, or any problems for that matter. I also use 22.6 gr of 322 (else same) interchangeably with no problems. I haven't tried any other bullets because this load is 1" @100yd, and that's as good as I can get with iron sights. BTW, from what I've read, you don't NEED more than about 2700fps with the heavier bullets. Just a waste of powder to try and go faster. Later, Bert
  4. At the two clubs where I shoot, the fees are $10 each. At the closest in Pa., if you assist in the set-up you save $5, and it's free to the SO's. Most of the clubs that I have visited in the past have also been $10. Those clubs are located in Pa, Va, & NC. There are a few clubs around that have only 2 stages that charge $15, but I haven't been to any of those yet..... Y'all be good & Happy Holidaze!!!!! Bert
  5. Michael, in .45ACP, the LDA may be used in SSP & CDP. In other calibers, it can be used in SSP & ESP. This is of course using the rules pertaining to Cocked-n-Locked (ESP) or DAO mode (SSP). Later, Bert
  6. Just finished reading Matts Tip. DVD is the WTG if it's within your budget. Remember that to edit/save-to-disc , you also need a DVD Drive/Recorder & editing Software. Think of the extras when making your choice. The tape type and standard Digital types also need extras. Bert
  7. Hey TightLoop, You'll love N-340. Use the data from VV and you'll be in the ballpark. I use 340 in 9mm, 38sp, 357, & 45ACP. Keep it a LITTLE on the warm side and there's virtually no flash, very clean, and the recoil impulse, although a little heavier, is slower and much more controllable. Bert
  8. Yup! ROFL Merlin, Kewl!!!!! Get starting bloodwork. Remember that induction is only two weeks! Good luck! Take care, Bert
  9. MerlinD ROTFLMELAO Thanks for the great laugh! Later, Bert PS. I second the MB 10 week plan. Good work Matt...
  10. Marvin, Sorry for the hard-core reply above. I have to admit that I'm not a great fan of Web MD. nuff-sed? High drop out rate during Induction. That's an EASY one. If the person doesn't have enough dedication to make it through the first two weeks, it doesn't matter what plan they are trying, they're not going to make it. Weight can return quickly..... Yup, That's true with any diet if you drop the good habits and go back to your old eating habits. ie Porking Out... High risk of desease..... I don't think so. 1 Either the person was predisposed to the desease, or 2 already had it. Atkins exposes you to no more risk than any other diet that includes healthy eating. Look at the Cali Diet. "Loose 30# overnight without working out". We all know that this is a bunch of bunk. The Cali, er um, now the SouthBeach Diet is a dehydration diet that has KILLED people. Atkins uses, lessee, FOOD to get rid of pounds. Limiting certain types of foods, ie Carbs, and eating meat and veggies and fruit, just back off of the bread and pasta. Eat reasonable amounts per sitting....... Sounds like a reasonable diet to me no matter who's name is on it. I guess, getting to the bottom line, political agenda strikes again. Popiel says his diet is best and all others are dangerous. This one says that and that one says this because everyone elses diet is bad and theirs is the only safe one. Guns kill! Did you know that? Ask any gun grabber and they will prove it! The word gun is a bad word in the public schools. Why? Because it teaches our children about evil things and WE MUST PROTECT THE CHILDREN FROM SUCH THINGS!!! While in the real world, well adjusted kids are going hunting and shooting with their parents/adult friends. Who's right? The Teachers/experts, or REALITY? I admit that there are many unsafe, and yes even LETHAL (read California) diets out there, but with the longevity and success rate of Atkins, don't you think there may be something to it? I'll close again stating that I am not on Atkins. I don't belong to any Anti/support group that targets diets. I am just a person that believes a well educated decision is the best. If you get the research, study BOTH sides, and still don't like a product or system, then by all means, EXERCISE YOUR RIGHT TO CHOOSE SOMETHING ELSE! But just because it may not have been right for you doesn't necessarily mean that the product is bad for everyone. Take care, and thanks for the safe and sane discussion. This has been fun!!! Bert
  11. parsonM1, It sounds like you're on a Modified (read LOW, not NO, Carb) Atkins diet. Hell, even Ron Popeil has a new diet that is "safer than any other diet on the market today". The only problem is that it's mostly copied from Atkins. As far as Healthy for the long run..... Hmmm, my girlfriend has been on it for over 7 years (I asked her tonight and it turns out to be 9.5 years) and she's very healthy. Dr Atkins was very healthy for a man of his years (70+) and died due to injuries incurred in a fall on the ice (Brain Hemmorage IIRC) and he had been using HIS diet for over thirty years. I have a friend in Canada that's been on the diet for a little over 17 years, and is also diabetic, Healthy as a horse. I can point to you many sites that are full of people that have been on the Atkins diet for over 10 years and all are doing just fine. As far as believing the opinion of a dietician or two, or the opinion of thousands of satisfied long-term users, I'm sorry but I think I'll have to go with the users... Just because the plan doesn't work for every single person is no reason to blast it. Atkins works, PERIOD. There are some people out there that it may not work for. It's like I said in my last post, (Paraphrase) Just because my 1991A1 runs for me doesn't mean you'll have the same results, but that's no reason to blast all 1991's. Notice that I haven't said anything bad about the diet that you're using. It works for you, congratulations and keep up the good work..... Bert
  12. Jim, I shoot a G-17 in IDPA and started having brain farts, er um, trigger freeze. My cure was to dry fire with a revolver for a few days. You have gotten way to used to the short/light reset. Either that or you could set the trigger return a little stiffer. The dry fire wouldn't hurt either way. See! There is a use for wheelers.... Take care, Bert
  13. The reason for the Doctors visits isn't for the dietary support, but to keep an eye on the Blood Chemistry. Even a fat doctor can do that! I do agree that it would be better to see one that's also on the plan, but I don't know any right now (Too busy with the Ortho-surgeon, Cardiac Spec., and Chiropractor). And NO! The Cardiac is because of the wreck, not my diet... I guess the best way for me to sum up the situation is; If it works for you, whether it's the Atkins diet or some other system, then go for it! I like my 1991A1. I also like my BHP and my G21. They all run for me, but that doesn't mean that they are right for everyone! Use what works best for you. But on the same token, just because they may not work for you doesn't mean that they are bad for everyone... Once again, cudos to those on track to a better life... Bert
  14. As stated above, Read the book! The reason it comes off fast in the beginning is DUE TO WATER LOSS! I was going to make this educational (read Long, and in favor of Atkins), but I figure that people that have opinions will have the same opinion no matter how insightful the arguement. For those of you in the know, Congrats and keep up the good work. Atkins does work, and if DONE BY THE BOOK, is a very healthy and safe method of weight loss. Keep your appoinements with the Dr. and go at a reasonable pace. Like above, BY THE BOOK! Damn, I can still hear fat cells disolving when I'm in this forum! Isn't that amazing? Take care, Bert
  15. Exactly! Those guys are Working their Asses off training hard 8-10 hours per day for weeks before the event. They intake 10-12k caleries per day and burn 12-14k. After their event, ie Tour De France, they go back to the modified Atkins diet so they can keep the pounds off because they are going to be sedantary for a few WEEKS recouping from their ordeal. Joe Average doesn't have that type of activity level. Exercise is very important, whether on a diet or not. The INDUCTION portion of the Atkins diet only lasts for two weeks and is meant to retrain the body to start using the fat that it has been storing for all these years. After that, you can go to the No-Carb, Lo-Carb, Restricted Carb, or even Paleo route. The Induction is where most people stop reading or form incomplete opinions. BTW, Dr Atkins sure was spry for a "pudgy bastard". Another BTW, If it is such a BAD Diet, then why are so many millions of people successfully getting back to a healthy weight and lifestyle using it? I'm not on the diet because I don't need to be on it. I AM following some of the guidelines set forth in the book and lifestyle. I also refuse to BadMouth a Proven system of healthy eating just because MODERN TRAINED EXPERTS say it's not healthy. Most of those Experts have never read the book either! Y'all take care, Bert
  16. WTG Jeeper! My GF has been on Atkins for the better than 7 years. She is healthier than I am. Her bloodwork before Atkins was horrible. LDL & HDL were outrageous. Now, her levels are top notch as well as is every other level that they test for. Ketosis IS a good thing. I have modified my diet to lower the carb intake and I do feel the difference. Note: I see that some people have stated opinion without knowing the facts. If you are going to state a valid arguement, you need to know BOTH sides, NOT just an opinion of what the other side is all about. Let the flames begin! My hat is off to those that are on the Atkins Diet (the right way, following the Book). It has proven time and time again over the last 30 years to be a very healthy diet and lifestyle. Keep up the good work! It is a big change from what has been taught in the past, but it is a change for the better... The facts speak for themselves. Later, Bert
  17. Got a new link that you folks need to check out for info on Atkins; http://www.lowcarb.org There are several VERY GOOD E-Mail lists based out of St. Johns (Servers/Networks). BTW, there's lots of Links on the above page that will help you with attitude, dedication, supplies, and most important, support when dealing with the Atkins diet. Y'all take care, Bert
  18. Kyle, Thanks for rubbing it in..... I'm jelous Thanks for the EYE training ideas too. Kimel, I already have a Physical Torturist that even shoots (rifles), that's why I stated "after the recoup..." and "in the spring"... As stated above, I got the info that I needed from another site.
  19. Oooooppppssss, I guess I came to the wrong place for advice! This IS a shooting forum, right? Y'all take care, Bert
  20. Hey BJ, I should've said "in IDPA", Sorry, You may very well be right for IPSC or USPSA. In IDPA, the PF is there for a purpose and there's not a Major/Minor in the same division. Y'all take care, Bert
  21. My Momma taught me that; If I didn't have anything good to say, I should keep my mouth shut! The Lee FCD has ended all the feed problems that I was having with my bottom-feeders. BUT!!! Accuracy isn't what it should be and I reverted to crimping with an extra RCBS die that I had on hand. Hmmmmmm, no feed problems and accuracy is right where it needs to be. I will add a disclaimer: I "MAY" have had the FCD adjusted incorrectly. I also adjusted it so it resized ONLY. same problem. I went back to the Old Ways... YMMV, Bert
  22. Kevin, using your chriteria, I'd go with the safety factor of 10. You said half above and half below. Which of those 300 rounds you have loaded will go High? The odds may be in your favor, but they are just as likely to be against. The SO/RO grabs (randomly) 6 test rounds from your box, loads and tests. OOOoooppss, all 6 were under. They're nice there and allow you to shoot 6 more with YOUR gun. They get to choose the rounds..... Oh SH&*! Luck is against you again and all 6 were below. DQ, Pack up and GO HOME! Better make sure that your SLOWEST round will at least make PF. As far as the local matches? I'd still shoot the same "AbovePF" load that would be used in National level matches. Why get used to one load for local just to have to learn a different one for the Nats? Take care, Bert
  23. Nevermind, I got straight answers on another site......
  24. Hey Doc, For what it's worth, all powders meter well thru a good measure! I don't load for .357Sig, but I do load with a number of different powders. By far the most consistant (metering & performance) is the VV line of powders. They are hard to find in many areas and they are initially expensive, but the ease of use and the lot-to-lot consistency make them a great value. My next choice would be Win powders in the speed range that you need (read; slower). WW powders are much smokier and less consistant lot-to-lot than VV, but they do offer a good value in bulk. Good luck in your search, Glockn... PS. Other resources for data are http://www.loadyourown.com and http://www.pistolsmith.com
