  1. Yours truly managed to outshoot the competition in all the stockgun classes at Topton's GSSF match, earning a new personal best score and a new Glock! (It'll be Glock #18 in the stable). I attribute a set of really good sights and the mental focus to watch them. BE, you said it would work, and it did!!!!! Debbie

    17 to 22

Quote: from Avalanche on 5:46 pm on Aug. 14, 2002 What if a person bought a 9mm KKM barrel and had G17 mags? Would this work to make the G22 a G17? Thanks The breechface is still cut for .40, and the extractor might not catch the case rim. Also, the ejector assembly needs changed out. D.

    17 to 22

MP, My Frankenstein gun was made sortof like this. He is a G22 frame with a 17C top end. Your G17 frame can house a G22 slide assembly. Stock barrels are not interchangable without the corresponding slide, as the outside diameter is different. Besides, the breech would not be the proper caliber if you didn't replace the slide. You also need the trigger housing w/ejector. The only reason I did this for an open gun was because I had the guns already. I wouldn't consider it for a viable second gun, as the cost of the parts are nearly that (or more than) the whole G22. Deb

    AA mag extensions

I have Grams on my G20 mags and it took two months of fiddling to get them to feed. The Grams on my husband's G22 only took slight mods to get to work. I bought Taylor Freelance +10s for Frankenstein and all four worked right off the bat. I have heard great things about Dawsons, too. My .02! Deb
  5. GSSF matches are regional and held annually. See the schedule at gssfonline.com. Other shooting disciplines like IDPA and IPSC are based at shooting clubs which have a more regular schedule. Find clubs at uspsa.org and idpa.org. Glocks excel at all of the above! Go try them. Debbie
  6. I had some experience with lead building up under the barrel hood, and it looked like it would eventually interfere with the lockup. Firing a few thousanths out of battery is not something I wanted to play with... Debbie
  7. Ditto on the PortaTarget portable rack. I have no range where I can leave equipment, so it was a selling point that it breaks down into pieces that I can load and unload myself. I use a waterski tow-rope to pull the plates up. The mechanism works well, and the plates are adjustable if you are not on a perfectly level surface.
  8. I didn't mention that the ammo for Frankenstein runs around 140pf... The weight of the comp can inhibit cycling of the slide, no matter how light you go on the recoil spring. And you don't want too light a recoil spring because of the out of battery potential. My un-scientific load selection was based on how much powder it took to get the gun to reliably cycle. I was just lucky enough that it shoots to point of aim out to 25 yards. I changed barrels to 9x19 without the comp to shoot the Opens. Never having shot Frank in an IPSC match, it was a hoot... I'll stick with my iron sights. I don't ever *lose* those. BTW, Frank's top end is from a 17C which was shelved due to lack of accuracy. (The frame is a G22, hence the name Frankenstein... His "head" doesn't match his "body", get it? Debbie Quote: from Carlos on 8:46 am on Feb. 28, 2002 Glocklady's gun is about right with a few more thoughts/ ideas: Steel Challenge and light-set falling steel is a 9x19 game; look over on the open gun forum & you'll see that some of the top guys are winning with bullets as light as 90 grains. It just has to ping (or fall) so 9x21 is out. <snip> (Edited by GlockLady at 11:53 am on Mar. 1, 2002) (Edited by GlockLady at 11:54 am on Mar. 1, 2002)
  9. It's the LPT. I've not checked the engagement, but I did check the trigger safety and it was operable. I have the trigger out, waiting on my new G34 but if I get a chance this weekend I"ll put it in something and check further. Deb
  10. I shoot my G26 in AmCiv in GSSF, and I use Novaks plain black sights. They're on my G20 IPSC gun, and I find them plenty accurate. I comfortably do 50-yd upper AB zone shots with the G20, and shoot in or near the top 10 in GSSF with the 26.
  11. I posted on GT about my first look at the trigger: http://glocktalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=55399 I didn't post here yet, because I wanted to give it some time to break in, and I view this forum as a more serious competitive forum. (Don't tell anybody on GT I said that!). Deb

    Glock 9x21

Guys, One thing to keep in mind when going to 9x21 (if you're going to shoot major loads) is that you might want to drill your 9mm frame to add another pin to the trigger assembly aka the .40s. Or, do like I did and use a G22 receiver with a 17 top (hence the name Frankenstein -- his head doesn't match his body, get it?). Deb

    Glock 9x21

No, not 16 G20s, 16 Glocks! Actually, add two more. The Gssf commemorative, and a 35 won at the GSSF Annual. Lets see, 17,17,17c,17L,19,20,20c,21,21,22,22,24,24C,26,29,35,36,36. The 20C and one 36 are for sale, $50 off Glockmeister's published price. Deb
  16. Slik40, Another thing to change the "depth" of the stack of loaded rounds in 10-rd mags is to change the follower. This was done to a couple of my mags at a GSSF match this past year. The flat follower was replaced with one that is more rounded (looks like the ones that go in the hicap mags.) The mag still only held 10 rounds, but the 10th one inserted much more easily. Debbie
  17. Now this is a subject near and dear to my heart. Last September I went to a ladies' pheasant hunt, and used my trusty Mossberg 835. I got caught up in the excitement and didn't realize how bruised I was after shooting two boxes of 3" #4s. (Making feathers fly tends to distract you!) The hunt included lunch and a free round of sporting clays. That is when I discovered how sore I was. Meanwhile, my hunting partner, a tiny lady, was busting clays like she had done the pheasants. She shared her gun with me, and I was able to complete the course. After we were done, I wrote down all the markings, etc, on the gun and presented my husband with the paper. The Browning Gold Ladies' Sporting Clays in 12ga showed up under the Christmas tree. I am a lucky woman, now I have *two* great shotguns. Except for turkey season, the Browning and I are inseparable. Debbie
  18. Go for a Lee sizing die, and then use the Lee Factory Crimp die. The combo results in brass which will pass a cartridge gauge (sp?) every time. BTW, my EGW .40 cartridge gauge is a bit smaller than the one from Midway. And both are smaller than any .40 Glock. Debbie
  19. Frankenstein is now wearing a tungsten guiderod (from THE maybe?) with a 12# ISMI flat spring and a THE brass magwell. The weight addition is quite noticeable, and the balance is terrific. Since he's set up for GSSF U/L competition where you can only load 10 rounds in the mag, the added weight on the magwell is especially welcome. Both accessories purchased from Custom Glock Racing.
  20. I would be glad to help out. Where do I sign up? Debbie Quote: from TDean on 8:15 am on Sep. 8, 2001 "..he's an extremely___man.." The suspense is killing me! What is he-what-what! LOL I nominate one of the "Debbies", or both.
  21. Been there, done that, got my money back. The gun would not fire unless the trigger was jerked, hard. Others on the Glock list have suffered doubling and breaking pins on their scope mounts. More importantly, there is a warning from Glock about aftermarket trigger assemblies (gssfonline.com). Debbie
  22. Frankenstein, my GSSF UL gun, is headed in this direction. Currently he has a G17C top end, KKM 9x21 barrel and comp, G22 frame. PDP5CMP dot. Titanium parts and light springs, GlockMeister trigger. Titanium guiderod and big brass magwell. Taylor Freelance +10 basepads for a total of 27 rounds. 120-something grain bullet over N340 at VV's published max load. Shoots a 137 pf. The only thing left to do is put side ports on the comp and lighten the slide. The gun is fast. Before his "surgery" is complete, he'll make a tour of the USPSA Open Nationals just for fun. BTW, his name is Frankenstein because his head doesn't match his body and he has parts I've dug up from all over the country. Debbie (Edited by GlockLady at 7:54 pm on Aug. 29, 2001)
