  1. I started changing parts out with a new gen 5 pistol. I put in the drop safety plunger and extractor, and things started working normally. Also, Suarez asked me to send them the slide and they will replace it. Thank you for your input, Gentlemen.
  2. Amen, Brother. I think you just gave me the perfect advice.
  3. Yes, the slide is specifically for the Gen 5. I sent the slide, as well as the brand new Gen 5 lower, to Suarez, asked for one of their barrels and recoil spring assemblies, and also asked that when it comes back I would like it to work. It didn't. All parts are either original Glock or Suarez.
  4. I have a gen 5 G19 lower and a Suarez 519 slide. It shoots fine, but if there is a loaded round in the chamber and the magazine is removed, when I attempt to eject the loaded round from the chamber, the slide goes most of the way to the rear, then stops, then will not return to battery. The slide will not come off the frame unless I retract the slide, hold it there, remove the backplate and let the extractor and drop safety fall out. On the other hand, if I insert an empty magazine into the pistol and pull the slide, the loaded round comes out normally. Do any of you have any idea what is going on with this pistol?
  5. I have one and I like it. It replicates a stock Glock trigger pull with a more realistic feel than the cardboard trick, including the trigger reset.
  6. I carry a Glock 34 on duty, and use the same rig for IDPA and USPSA. Warren / Sevigny sights with the fiber optic front. G26 off duty.
  7. That looks pretty ideal to me. Almost the same setup that I use. (I have a regular 686, I love it!)
  8. One of our local revolver guys uses a Speedsec. I find it a little scary. I have a speedsec and have used it for several years. It is great because it accommodates all of my revolvers. I have never had a problem with the gun falling out, but I will admit that it makes me a little nervous too. I mostly use kydex now.
  9. JT, I have used the seat/crimp die for several years. I also use the 550. I had .38 special dies (RCBS) and I didn't feel like purchasing the Dillon dies at the time, so I just set it up with the seating and crimping done at stage 3, with stage 4 empty. I was just going to do this until I bought the Dillon dies, but it worked so well that I just left the RCBS setup on my toolhead. DM.
  10. That looks fantastic, I think I need to do that to mine!
  11. Kind of interesting...I have had a 5 inch 625 and a 4 inch 686 for about the same length of time. I use the 625 for USPSA and the 686 for IDPA. I am a solid B class revo shooter in USPSA, and my two best classifier runs (both around 90%) were shot with the 686 shooting minor, when I had loaned my 625 to my son. HMMM
  12. I cut my palm too. I figure I'm not going to worry about it unless I start seeing blood on the BACK of my hand too! Then its time to be a little more gentle with the ejector rod.
  13. I have a 610 and love it. It is the first revolver that I used exclusively for games. The only problem I can come up with is that I peened the stop notches from dry fire. Lots and Lots of dry fire. Part of the problem was the extra mass from the non fluted cylinder. I have a 625 and a 686 that now are approaching the same number of snaps as the 610, and have not developed that problem. Take care, DM
  14. I like it. We could call it the "Make my Day" class.
  15. I'm not going to speak for all wheelgunners, but I feel that shooting a wheel is the easiest way to take us out of the "equipment race". If you have shot a good match (USPSA or IDPA) with a revolver, you know that you have come down to the lowest common denominator...shooting skill. Our trigger pull is longer, and heavier. Our reloads are more complex, and more often. If you make a good showing at a match, shooting a revo, you have done something to be proud of. There many fantastic shooters out there who shoot autos, but those that shoot revolvers especially well....The Great JM, Mr. Nichols, Mr. Buckland, Mr. Cuttita, these are the guys that I admire. Guys that I have seen spin the wheel with great skill. The guys that do it the hard way. To answer your question, an all around wheelgun shooter is one who shoots every match with a wheel, holds his own, and does not make excuses for the equipment that he shoots. Dave McCall
  16. If it was within driving distance I would love to go. I will only get to go to 1 major match at most this year, and this would be the one if it comes off.
  17. What in the world are you talking about?? The fact that Open shooters have small wieners, or what??? I just shot beer out my nose, laughing at that !
  18. You are taking this whole revolver thing to a new level. You sir, are a MAN
  19. The load making major out of the commander may or may not make major out of a different 4 inch barell, but it should be pretty close. Just shoot the gun and don't worry much about it. The chrono does not appear too often at IDPA matches. I have chronoed 1 time and have shot 5 state matches and one nationals. Just go have some fun with it.
  20. This is a good argument for shooting a revolver!
  21. Hi Steve, My first suggestion would be to purchase Jerry Miculek's video on how to do a trigger job. If you do the work yourself, you get the added benefit of having a better understanding of what the hell is going on under the sideplate. Mr. Carmoney on this forum is also a great source for information on things like removing weight from your hammer, and bending springs. Take Care, DM
  22. That is sweet!! Where I grew up, we would call it a BFMC. I'll let you figure out what that stands for. Take care, DM
  23. Well done. That is a very nice looking gun.
