Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Sorry, I know this is old but how was the affect of the armanov equalizer? And can you share bullet grain and power factor for your rounds?
  2. Awesome, that worked. Thanks so much for the advice. solution = uninstall and reinstall the app.
  3. I still can’t see classifier calculations for limited optics. It just shows an error message. Am I missing something or same for everyone else?
  4. Thank you sir. Referring to your post above, did you tighten the slide by using a ballpeen hammer (or similar) to narrow the gap in the slide rails at the point they interact with the frame tabs? I've thought about doing this myself as another step to try and improve accuracy. I have a KKM barrel but still not producing groups like yours. I'd be very happy with 2" at 25 yds. My loads are identical to yours but I'm using round nose. (and really dialed in on the loading variables (bell, crimp, pulling the round to inspect after, etc) Barrel pretty tight but it was a drop in. no fitting required. I'm guessing there is some variance in manufacturing here that I am having a hard time identifying so I'm trying to comb through all the little variables.
  5. thanks. please define "nice". (grouping size at 12 or 25 yds?) Out of what pistol/barrel?
  6. I’m sure others will chime in here but as I get more matches under my belt, I continue to work the balance between speed and accuracy. simply put: “allow myself to see the sights on target and get a bit of confirmation before breaking the first shot.” (Follow up shot is usually “predictive” for closer targets meaning I don’t acquire a 2nd sight picture) When I push too fast and don’t allow for that sight confirmation enough, the score suffers or I waste time making up shots on steel. Of course close targets need very little confirmation (just a flash of the dot in the a zone) and longer shots need a bit more confirmation ensuring the dot settles on target. Yesterday’s match was a reminder of what happens when I push too fast and don’t get a good enough sight picture. “Ouch” As mentioned above, I also push the speed in dry fire especially to try and speed up my hand-eye coordination. and I push live fire too but when live fire starts going south, that’s my cue to dial it back and get more sight confirmation. If you don’t have a sense of your ability to see the dot on target, review the score breakdown and I still think 80% alphas is a good rough indicator of whether a competitor is pushing too fast or maybe not fast enough. Just my perspective so far as I near the end of my first competitive year.
  7. Factory barrel in that cz? What is the grouping size out of the cz?
  8. so PF approximately 133. What barrel (in what pistol) and what is your grouping size at 12-ish or 25 yards?
  9. I thought it may be interesting to see a list of those who have found a barrel and load combination that produces 2" group or better at 25 yards and close to minor power factor. (or 1" or better at 12yds) Bonus points if using 147 grain. (since I like the recoil impulse of a 147 best but not seeing much out there since generally faster = more accurate) barrel manufacturer for what pistol (if factory barrel, say "factory") bullet manufacturer, weight and type powder and charge weight OAL approximate power factor ***to keep things simple, let's use some assumptions: brass and primer good, minimal crimp if any, charge is consistent, etc. (I know there are tons of factors that have an impact and some of you will be dying to jump in and talk about it, but let's keep it simple and mention the big things.) My goal here is to marry the load data with the barrel for known accurate combinations which I rarely see compiled in one place unless it includes a bunch of other data that isn't this accurate and has to be sorted through. Probably benchrest or ransom but offhand is fine if you can shoot sub 2" at 25 yds offhand. this is your chance to flex.
  10. Ok maybe I misunderstood. That makes sense. Good for me to clarify for my own training and goals. Thanks guys!
  11. I thought this might make for an interesting discussion or maybe just an interesting observation: I traditionally have heard that 90-95% Alphas is what is needed to be competitive but a quick analysis of carry optics nationals (which is all minor scoring and notably a worse penalty than major) shows the top 10 were all about 75-80%. It seemed to me that match as a whole was pretty well rounded and not favoring any one style or a lot of distance shots that might throw that number off. I just thought that was interesting and maybe something I will keep in mind during my own training to push the speed a bit more and be ok with that. other thoughts?
  12. nothing specific to the DR920 posted yet but sill great data to look over. thank you for sharing!
  13. Can you point me to this spreadsheet (couldn’t find it) or would you mind sharing your load for the dr920? I just picked one up after using the mr920 for a few years and I wasn’t happy with accuracy. 4” spread at 12 yards from bags. I’m currently using 147gr blue bullets with 3.2gr n320 at 1.14 OAL providing 130 PF. Thanks in advance!
  14. Thanks again for your help guys. Just wanted to update for anyone in the future who comes across this post. I ended up just needing the 15lb recoil spring and that worked great. My pistol (Shadow systems MR 920 which is basically a glock 19 gen 4) still went solid into battery, fired consistently and ejection was predictable and strong. (all other parts are factory including striker and 5.5lb striker spring) Side note, I decided to increase my loads by 1 grain so that my power factor was about 134 rather than the 130pf that I was shooting. I couldn't really tell a difference (and certainly wouldn't be able to tell a difference under stress of competition) and that allows a little fudge room just to be sure both for reliability but also if I have to chrono at a match. I also tested factory self defense rounds that shot pretty hot (about 140 PF) and that functioned reliably. Good to make small change and have things work well now with my own reloads! - Ken
  15. More great info guys. Thank you. Also didn’t know about the “in battery test” so that will be a good pre-test before stepping to the line with different spring set ups.
