  1. Visually checked as they move around the shell plate, final check when every thing goes through the hundo case gauge, 70,000+ with no issues. Anything short of a crack or wrong caliber has been good to go for me.
  2. Working for a small organization, I wear a few hats in my job, by choice mind you. I like doing a bunch of different things and found a good work flow to accomplish my tasks effectively and often well before the end of my shift; and have done so for 3 years . I was promised a decent and much needed raise at the end of the 2023 however some unexpected slow downs curbed that. One of my duties involves preparing the financial reports, so I knew first hand the raise wasn't going to happen and I was ok with it, figuring in a few months things would get back to normal and we would recover. In the mean time I have noticed some of my duties being reduced and now we have 2 new full time hires and an outside consultant. None of which we can afford. Last Friday I asked the Director if there was room in the budget for my raise(since we can apparently hire people), but was told I would have to wait until at least this summer. I got to work this morning and was then told due to a schedule change I have the day off... I guess showing data indicating that we need to rethink our operational model to stay in business wasn't a great idea.
  3. I went 5 years or so shooting 6-8 matches a month and a ton of time in practice between them. Post covid ammo/gas prices and just general burnout I slowed down a lot. I don't enjoy shooting anymore, but I like going to matches. Now it's maybe 2-3 a month if I even feel like going that weekend. I am still competitive in locals, I still enjoy the game, but if I found something new tomorrow I'd be out.
  4. That's the NY2 setup, that makes it into a 12lb pull if I remember correctly
  5. I guess I am on the fence about it. I don't shoot majors that often to begin with and I am starting to feel like I need to take a year off the sport to refresh and reevaluate my interest. I do like having an "official" way to track my progress in the sport via the classifiers (which are not perfect) and locking in what I have achieved so it's there when I am ready again, does have some meaning to me.
  6. Watching Jim and Shooting USA as a teenager is where I learned about IDPA, USPSA, and much of my early firearm information. If a TV personality has ever affected my life, it was Jim Scoutten. I am truly saddened to hear of his passing.
  7. unloaded I am at 50 oz with my Shadow 2 with SSi 4.0s with the tungsten inserts, 53oz with a empty mag. I have put a TLR 1 one just for laughs and can get to around 58oz with it. I go back and forth with taking the inserts out, the thing is borderline too heavy for me
  8. Work culture + ban state I know one guy(medical profession) where his (former) company's HR team dug up a FB picture of him at a rifle class and they fired him on the spot because it "does not represent our family values" Yes our sport is public and it's a risk that some people chose to take, but taking some personal security measures is not a bad thing.
  9. For those of us who know how, yes. I have ID'ed "anonymous" people from their youtube videos in under 10 minutes, but if you don't know practiscore or have a USPSA membership it's tougher. We have a few people working in sensitive areas who would be at risk of losing their job (and some have) if their name/picture/video were to show up in social media in relation to a firearm.
  10. IDPA Long form classifier ESP SS, match bump to expert 3 days later (2018) ESP Master (2019) SSP Master (2023) Both are match bumps from the 1 match a year I still shoot USPSA Production Master (2021) First division, started off the rip at A in 2019) Single Stack Master (2022) only shot 1 match and it was a classifier match with all 20 or newer) Limited Master (2023) GSSF Master(2018)
  11. Leave them on the range and let the club member ship shoot them until there's nothing left. That's what happens to ours.
  12. Yes It's kinda regional. according to the activity results it's the second most shot division. I just don't know where https://www.reddit.com/r/USPSA/comments/xde0si/breakdown_of_uspsa_activity_in_2022/ I shoot either Limited or Production, but seldom see more than 10 others in a match and even that many is rare.
  13. This is a weird one, it seems you can do ok with 1 penalty in some divisions I shot it last year in Limited with a line break no-shoot and some deltas: 110 pts 23.39 seconds 4.2753 HF 85.9% Last weekend it was a mike(WHO on the far right array) and some deltas but slightly faster than before 104 pts 20.97 seconds 4.4826HF 90% Ended up making Limited Master by a margin of 0.2% because of this one!
  14. 100% If I lose any of my PPE I am stopping regardless of the RO's call. If I get a reshoot, fine. If not, a bad stage is better than a permanent disfiguring injury/hurting someone else.
  15. From what I understand most of the issues where solvable with some spring changes and very specific ammo. Somewhere on PF is a very long thread from a SME LEO about problems with issuing the G22s and G23s on a large scale. edit: found the link, page 5 has the post that I was specifically referring to, but the whole thing is interesting if you are into that. https://pistol-forum.com/showthread.php?13852-40-S-amp-W-and-Glocks
  16. finger grooves, crap texture, tiny mag release, and slide bite are what spring to my mind. Oh and the .40s being wholly unsuitable to that version of the Glock. The gen 3's do have better triggers than the gen 4s (about on par with the gen 5s).
  17. can't wait for the conflicted results and the blog author to spend a paragraph taking a dump on their RO's Seriously though, I wish they would stop doing the poll and just talk about the why of it. That would be more valuable and informative.
  18. At the range.. we have shot matches in single digits and driving snow storms. Set up practice in the same conditions too. Other than that, either dry fire at home with target layouts and scales that resemble what you want to work on. If you are only able to use an indoor bay, use a large backer and multiple smaller targets placed around it to work transitions on
  19. Too good pricing Only accepting non-traditional payment mimicking legit companies' URLs: for example "rugerfirearms." instead of "ruger." Weird or non existent contact/about pages New or odd sounding web sites and business' that you are not familiar with Spelling errors in proper names and descriptions Anything that gives you pause All are red flags and should be avoided. Most scams are simple to figure out with a bit of poking around their site and some common sense
  20. I have been running the aggressive for a month. About 4 matches and 3 days a week of dry fire. Most of the bleeding as stopped I like it now, but the first two weeks did suck. Make sure to give your hands a break and don't handle it at all every few days It is a bit of a commitment to get your hands where they need to be so that you don't subconsciously baby your grip pressure. I did find a few hot spots and ended up taking a small hammer and punch and knocking off a few of the spikes.
  21. had to do this once before when no other vehicles were available, my truck was properly signed and some wannabe superman thought to lay on the verbal smack down. He must of missed the 5 minutes of lifting my 87 year old post-polio grandmother out of the truck and into her wheel chair. He only saw me when I ran back out to get her purse. Yes people who do this are arrogant as all get out, but have the whole story first
  22. I have a 2019 era S2, it came with the buffer installed and I never took it out. No issues, gun with the original buffer is at 15k rounds, will it fail eventually? sure, might be why they include a pack of them. In the mean time it has outlasted several parts from an above mentioned company...
  23. You don't until you do. For me it depends on the match, if I have a multi hour drive, hotel or more than $100 pre paid, I have a second gun with me. Although my trick is to break the one part I don't have a replacement of the day before the match. Having a match gun and a identical training gun, in addition to a pins and springs bag(plus required tools)is ideal and will save a ton of headaches. If you are on a budget, you can kinda get away with just a small parts bag, however some repairs can really suck trying to do at a safe table.
  24. I have been using the SSI grips with the tungsten inserts for a couple weeks now (they are maybe a half ounce less than the loks). I am not sure yet how I feel about them. The S2 balances much better with them and I find it to be more stable in single hand shooting and I have less over swing when I push for aggressive transitions. Recoil seems about the same. The down side being the gun is a freaking boat anchor on my hips. My dry fire has suffered a bit too, I am tiring out sooner, but that should level out as I get used to it more.
  25. Our MD's pay to shoot their own match.. so no. I think one club in my are dose a lunch ticket for the those who help set up and let RO's shoot free, but it's never been consistently observed.
