  1. I own both the Nemesis and an Akai Limited (stroked, with tungsten barrel and PT grip). The Akai shoots softer than the Nemesis.
  2. I did contact RIA and they sent me a new firing pin but it's about the same length as the original one.
  3. Has anyone clipped the firing pin spring in the VR80 to improve ignition reliability? I have 2 VR80s and one doesn't fire reliably. When I compared the firing pins, I noticed the lower reliability one has a slightly shorter firing pin. Stock trigger and hammer in both. Thanks.

I thought Atlas' warranty is only for 1 year?

8k for their latest open gun is not excessive since they have jacked up their limited gun prices to the 6k level ... By the way, Akai has a few "on sale" for 7500 ...
  6. The Atlas 17 rounder is too tall by about 1/8 of an inch, above IDPA box tolerance of 1/16 of an inch.
  7. The Staccato 17 rounder (126 mm) fits in the box.
  8. And outstanding customer support from Staccato. I contacted them about bullet nose dive issues I had experienced and they immediately sent me new mag springs that resolved the problem.
  9. It does. The height of the IDPA box is 1.625 in., the width of Staccato XL is 1.5 in.
  10. According to IDPA's Facebook posting, that's indeed the case.
  11. I measured my new Staccato XL with 126 mm mag inserted this morning and much to my surprise, it measured 8.75 x 1.5 x 5.5 (41.5 oz) which makes it IDPA ESP legal (per their Facebook posting below). Staccato's new beavertail design did the trick (reduced overall gun length from 9" to 8.75"). This was posted on IDPA’s Facebook page. October 26th. From RACL Rick Lund: This is a reminder for many of you, and news to the remainder of everyone who sends in questions to HQ and their AC's about whether their gun is legal for IDPA. Figuring this out for you is not really the job of headquarters since the specifications of the divisions are detailed in the rulebook. There is one exception to this: Enhanced Service Pistol (ESP). What happened is in early 2017, after our new rulebook went into effect, manufacturers began turning out new guns and components that over time, have become stock items on service guns and questions started pouring in. Examples of these are lightened slides, heavier barrels, and weighted grips. Recognizing that technology and new manufacturing improvements are showing us new products and firearms every year that enhance off-the-shelf inventories for specific uses such as concealed carry. And because we accept these new guns into our sport where appropriate as Stock Service Pistols, it would only be a matter of time that the help desk would be receiving calls about mix and match guns for our other divisions. We also said to ourselves that we were not going to issue a new rulebook or addendums every time something new hit the market and the IDPA equipment check at matches. So we came up with a short-term solution until such time that the BOD and HQ decide to conduct a review of the rules for our sport. We announced that the test criteria for Enhanced Service Pistol would be: EDC-Fit the Box-Make Weight. The gun must still comply with 8.1.7.D addressing magazine releases. This policy supersedes the inspection criteria detailed in the rulebook for ESP. This way it is easier for everyone that wants to use any firearm that might otherwise be excluded using our rules. Stock Service Pistol means Stock. If there are any visible differences from an SKU on the manufacturers' website, the gun will not be allowed to compete in this division. The same principle applies to Custom Defensive Pistol. If you find a .45 that has a heavy barrel without a bushing or lightened slides that you want to compete with, enter the gun into ESP. Back-Up Gun (BUG), Compact Carry Pistol and Carry Optics have the same allowances as ESP with different size and weight restrictions. These are all published on our website, in our current rules and appendices. If you are really stuck, your AC or IPOC have the ability to get you a correct answer. See you on the range. Rick

  13. Thank you both for helping me save money!
  14. Hi, Planning to purchase a new 2011 in 9mm for 3 gun but would like to seek the forum's opinions on the grip material. Have shot STIs with polymer grip and liked the recoil impulse. Have shot the Atlas Titan with PT grip and found the gun to be too heavy and slow in transition. Any thoughts on the aluminum grip? The online reviewer Honest Outlaw highly praised the Atlas Athena which has an aluminum grip but highlighted the aluminum grip in Guncrafter Hellcat X2 as a weakness (not heavy enough to reduce recoil, too rigid to absorb recoil like the polymer grips). Thanks.
  15. Picked up a M&P Shield 45 PC 4 in ported barrel with red dot over the weekend. Probably the most accurate subcompact I have shot and surprisingly soft shooting (softer than my 9mm P365).
  16. It seems like Staccato will no longer produce the Staccato R - it has been removed from their website. That's one short lived product line.

  18. I use 11 lbs. and also noticed more muzzle flip than my STI.
  19. Great advices for a cheapo like me, Rangertrace and Chutist! Glad you didn’t say go for one of those 5-6k 9mm 2011s that seem to be in vogue right now. Appreciate the advices.
  20. That’s a good point, Rangertrace. What’s your view between Staccato P and XL? Thanks a bunch.
  21. Thanks, everyone! Really appreciate it!
  22. Planning to get a 9mm 2011 for uspsa Limited and 3 gun. What's the view on the Staccato XL vs CK Arms Limited? Searched for CK Arms Limited on the site and the last post was over 3 years ago. Thanks a bunch!
