Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Yeah. Saw this too but it seems like he was taking off some material where the DA engages on the sear? Anyhow, will consider some polishing, see if that helps. Thanks!
  2. Thanks will attempt this. That said, I may have figured out the hammer issue. When cocking the hammer, it's as if the trigger bar is getting stuck in this position (has the FPB fully deeply recessed). And the mild trigger prep is what nudges it up to align properly, where the trigger bar is now straight instead of stuck tilted slightly up (causing the FPB to raise very slightly, which I assume is now actually normal). After the prep, when letting the trigger return, the bar doesn't go back to the tilted/slanted position. My guess is I may have to either take some material off the hammer on the lower end?
  3. I bought and installed a Skeletonized Match Hammer on a 92X Compact RDO. I wasn't sure definitively if the newer models do have the Xtreme S Trigger Group (at least Trigger Bar/Spring). I installed it. DA and SA works, trigger resets, so I assume it is in fact an Xtreme S trigger bar. And the SA pre-travel has been reduced DRASTICALLY. There's one minor issue though. When the hammer is cocked and I slowly pull the trigger to the wall and prep, the firing pin block lifts by maybe 1mm (possibly less). Letting go of the trigger, the FPB doesn't recess fully anymore and the trigger also doesn't go back out fully. This of course reduces the pretravel even more slightly but I worry about that FPB seemingly engaging on the prep and getting "stuck". I did test if it means the FPB is loose, it isn't (turning the gun upside down). I tested with a laser light cartridge and even with the slight protrusion, the firing pin doesn't push in fully enough and the FPB still "works". I assume the way the match hammer is designed it's really supposed to be like this? Or is this the fitting needed to loosen the SA contact points to avoid this VERY MILD FPB stick? Or given how mild (1mm or less), I shouldn't be worried? Side note: I also replied the stock grips with LOK G10 grips during the process, and during trigger reset cycling, it's as if the gun was resetting prematurely -- you hear the click on the full cycle of the slide. The SA trigger still works on "reset release" but you don't hear a click anymore. I removed the grips and put back the stock one, and it's fine. My guess the grips are out of spec and pushes the trigger bar in enough to cause this strange premature engagement?
  4. For some reason, despite the sear spring flushed left as much as possible, and the Safety pin/bar flush to the frame, the leg of the spring isn't exactly resting/hooking on the latch. Or seemingly barely. My sear spring doesn't look bent. Should I be concerned about the safety walking off or is the spring pressure enough to somewhat keep it there barring any crazy external force outside of regular shooting?
  5. Thanks, this is a good point. My guess there's a minor geometry issue that when the trigger is pulled back fully without the overtravel screw, it's maybe "locking" the trigger bar somehow. Instead of modifying the trigger bar, I guess it's just better to leave in the overtravel screw. LOL.
  6. This one is actually a Jericho 941 which I converted to SAO by dropping a Tanfoglio Xtreme SA trigger and removed the disconnector. Gun has been fine. I just replaced the trigger with the same one, but a different color and removed the overtravel screw (which I've been doing lately with all my guns). Strange issue is, on a function check, when the trigger is pulled fully, I can't rack the slide. It seems to be getting hung up somewhere. But when I ease the trigger forward a bit, it is fine. Every other function is good. I redid the entire process to make sure the sear cage and trigger bar are installed correctly and I can't see an issue. Do I really just need to put the overtravel screw so the when trigger is pulled, it isn't so fully that somehow gets the trigger bar locked up somewhere? PS: Installing the overtravel screw on the new trigger also fixes the issue. So there's something happening when the trigger fully travels to the rear without the screw to stop the full range of motion which I've never ran into before. Is that normal? I removed the overtravel screw for my Stock II, Shadow 2 and I don't run into the same problem.
  7. Haha. Good to know I am not the only one. All the replies here so far give me a ton of comfort. ROFL. Thanks everyone!
  8. Awesome, thanks. First time disassembling and my first Tanfoglio.
  9. So I forgot to lower the sear spring leg after changing hammer springs. This caused the slide to get stuck when I cycled it. I was able to push the slide back into battery and then disassemble to lower the sear spring leg. That said, the edge is slightly bent. It still lowered with tension though, so I am not sure if it needs replacing. Trigger works in DA/SA and resets. Would love to get the opinions of our seasoned gunsmiths if I should be worried and possibly preemptively change the sear spring. Cheers!
  10. Can anybody measure their 16 round Witness/MAPP magazines and provide the "height"? Measuring from the spine, from the top notch, down to the bottom, excluding the base plate? Trying to figure out if the dimensions are exact as the 75B 16 round magazines (117.3mm if measured like above). The Jericho 941F 16 round magazines are longer and more the same size as the CZ MecGar 17 round magazines. I know they all interchange but working on a project that requires the more flush fitting 75B 16 round magazine dimensions. Thanks!
  11. Interesting. I looked at the pictures online, and Tanfoglio (stock) sear spring looked like it had 4 coils? 5 if you count the legs? The CZ sear spring I count also the same? Did you have to modify the sear cage to make it fit?
  12. Yeah. Also highly considering a retraining in technique. A bit used to it with defensive training. I do reset all the way out and do not ride the reset, but get on the wall immediately as I align my sights. On my defensive DA/SA pistols, it's fine, especially on Striker-fired ones. I have not really done much competition/practical shooting, but practicing movements at home; I do have the occasional ND (dry) when I "run" to the next target and present, firing the trigger attempting to get on the "wall". That said, moving up to 2.5lbs from 1.5lbs has certainly helped. My defensive DA/SA pistols are at 3lbs average on SA. I guess 1.5lbs is simply too light for me at the moment. Thanks for the response!
  13. Yeah, I put back the original TRS that bumped it up by about 1/2 pound. I put in then a 13# spring, and that bumped it up by another half pound on average I suppose. I'm back to around 2.5lbs, which I guess I prefer than the 1.5lbs "hair" trigger. One thing I'd like to try when I get my hands on it is the Extra Power TRS with an 11# spring to see if I just get the tactile tension I like on SA. Thanks for the response!
  14. I have a CZ Shadow 2 and replaced the main spring with an 11lb one, a reduced power TRS, and the Extended FP and Spring combo. I enjoy the lighter and smoother DA, which I have about down to 6.5lbs, but I find the SA too light at 1.5lbs using a Wheeler Gauge. I miss having a "wall", since I don't generally ride the reset and just release and get on the "wall", like on my defensive pistols. So I end up doing a lot of inadvertent double taps on practice, or even worse, press the trigger on presentation if I am not conscious. Is my option just to increase the main spring weight still, which of course will bump up the DA pull also? I was thinking of putting in an increase power TRS just to get a "wall" again, but I frankly do not know if that's how it works, as far as what affects SA pull best. Maybe a stronger sear spring? That or I guess, just a matter of retraining technique not to get on the "wall" too hard on follow up shots or even presentation.
  15. Just to share, I installed the following: IPSC Store 13lb CZ 75 Hammer Spring Tanfoglio Xtreme Firing Pin Spring Light Tanfoglio Xtreme Firing Pin Small Frame I shot a 100 rounds of factory 124g ammo (Armscor FMJ) and had no light primer strikes. I may try to drop to an 11lb spring, but will want to wait for my new trigger gauge to arrive to see first where I am at. This is a new 941F F9, frame mounted safety, 2019 manufactured.
