  1. Has anyone used the 9mm once fired brass form Powder ally? Just wondering how good it is and how it is as far as head stamps?

I know I can get once fired brass here in the classifieds, But $50 bucks and some change for shipping a 1000 Is hard to beat.

It is strange hunting pistol powder.

I was taught to hunt. ( I am not good at it)

I never thought I'd be using such skills to bag powder.

Not to worry , I'm not either! But if I had the time to sit at the pc ,or be online at work everyday, I probably would be able to score more pistol powder than I do. I'm not saying everybody does, But their ar those that do!

  3. Price is price! And we all like the kind od bullet we like. I'm going the cast/coated bullet route cause that's the cheapest for me!

If I really had the money to spare and price was no object and IF they could be found. I would be shooting my favorite bullet of all Remington 147gr match FP . That's the bullet I use to reach master in GSSF and the only bullet I have found that is very consistent in both weight, diameter, and length. They were very accurate out of my G34, As far as jacketed bullet go, None are no better than the Rem 147 match! IMO

  4. I've had great luck with Montana Gold bullets.

Currently using them for 9mm/10mm/.45 and have had excellent results in all calibers.

Montana Gold 124gr CMJ's are only a penny more per bullet when purchased in bulk, compared to some of the plated options available. Think I'm paying about $.09 per bullet for 9mm.

I'm going the cast bullet route! I would love to use only Montana Gold ,But with the wife outta work and money tight, Got to save where I can! Besides, Montana does think they are selling gold,Hell I could get a lot of cast bullets for what they want for a case of 124s or 147s!

  5. Be cognizant that depending on the conversion barrel, you might have to shorten the oal of your reload or have the barrel rechambered. I might have to do this once I totally run out of plated for my conversion barrel -lone wolf.

I have already use the 147s un coated ,And I load them out to, 1.140, they just fit in the mag without hanging up ,So far the ones I've loaded ,I haven't had a problem with. That's not saying that the ones I have coming with the Hi-Tek coating want be a little different, But I will see when they come!

  6. Just wanting to get others opinions on 2 different bullets

Which would be the better bullet?

    Hornady 147gr FMJ-RN $69 and change (500)

    or

Montana Gold 147gr CMJ $101 and change (500)

I will be loading powder-puff loads with these for GSSF

Shooting out of a G35 with a lone wolf 9-40 conversion barrel!

    Thanks for the opinions

    Jeff

That seems awfully expensive for MG. I'd go with the Bayou suggestion before paying that much for jacketed.

BTW, with the aftermarket conversion barrel, I hope you're intention is to shoot in Unlimited. That's the only GSSF division in which aftermarket barrels are permitted.

That's the division I shot when I stopped shooting when I got married!

Set up will be G35 9-40 conversion barrel

    Carver c-more low ride mount

    147s over 3.6 N340 (not chronoed yet)

  8. N330 is (subjectively) the best 9mm powder made if you're chasing accuracy.

Too bad it's rarer than hens teeth and I've never seen it in a 4 lb. jug size before.

It did come in 4lbs jugs, When I worked at my local gun shop back in NC, We bought it from Black hills shooters supply!

But your right! It is as rare as hens teeth !!!

BTW Does anyone here that's has an FFL know if Black hills has any powder?

Black hills was also a great source for bullets

  9. A ray of hope!

I sent an e-mail to Lapua Friday and received a reply Saturday morning.

I basically asked about N330,MY all time favorite for 9mm.

Adam Braverman Of Lapua ,told me that N330 has not been discontinued or stopped being imported. He say that supply can not kep up with demand. But he says that thing are looking better. So lets hope that they are !!!

I would love to pick up a 4lb jug of 330, Its been awhile since I have shot any of my GSSF powder puff loads!

  10. Just a note, I was just comparing the burn rates, would never use them to work up loads!

Thanks for the info guys! Maybe I can find an open shooter near me here in Columbia that has some titegroup they would like to trade, I have about a half pound of the HS-6.

Besides, I do like the titegroup in 9mm and 40 SW.

    Thanks

    Jeff

  11. I Just did a search and according to the newly updated Vihtavuori reloading manual HS-6 has the same burn rate as N330. And in the vihta powder description,N330 can be used in place of accurate No 5. Having the same burn wouldn't you be able to get similar loads with HS-6 as you would with N330 or accurate No 5?

You will have to forgive me guys ,I still shoot ( a match here and there) but I've been out of the game for awhile and I used to know all this like it was my middle name ,But not playing the game for awhile I have gotten a little rusty!

    Jeff

  12. Not trying to flame ,but Missouri Bullet bullets are not pure lead ,They are an alloy!

That being said I have shot their:

    45 ACP

    200gr SW

    200gr RNFP

    9mm

    147 gr FP

And have had nothing but good results with them, no leading what so ever! In either caliber I am not shooting any major PF with either one 9mm I'm shooting around 130PF .

Yes ,they are a little smoky ,But as I shoot outdoors, Not a problem!

    Jeff

  13. Only a million people...

Its a slow open major powder, one of the 3 powders that 9mm open major can use. Don't use it for 9mm minor or 40, sell it to an open shooter. He will be forever grateful. :)

    jj

Why don't use it for 9mm minor? I am seeing loads in the hodgdon reload guide for 6.0grs under a 124 bullet.

    Please elaborate on this!

BTw I don't have enough of the HS-6 to even get a good price for it, I have enough for about 150 to 200 test loads, Just wanted to try it out in some of my 9 and 40 loads!

  14. Anyone using HS-6 with 124s in 9mm? Also in 40 SW

Any favorite loads with this powder, I found a half pound ,I didn't know I had(don't remember what caliber I used it for)

    Any pet loads?

    Thanks

    Jeff

  15. Need some advice on a good 9mm load using N340 and 124gr

    Noslers HP bullets.

    I ran out of N320, But I have 2 and a half pounds of N340 I use for 45ACP.

Has anyone here used N340 in 9mm ,and if so, what was your favorite load?

The recipe I'm thinking of going with is:

    Nosler 124gr HP

    Federal SPM primers

    4.0 grs N340

    Mixed brass

    Thanks

    Jeff
