Replaced all the springs today. I had 2 different kinds of springs in them. One was more square (pictured on the left) and was in the mags with the CZC extension base plates. So, I likely got them from CZC at that same time. Not sure if they are Grams or not. The ones that were for sure Grams, were over an inch shorter than the new ones. New springs were much stiffer and fed a ton better when test loading / unloading rounds by hand. Thanks for the help!!

Not a long shot. It is possible. I am just going to replace every spring and follower to make sure and see if that solves the problem. I will set aside one mag to load to 23. Side note, they are tougher to load in spots once they get dirty which lead to me to believe that it might be a mag clean issue. But it could be a combo of dirty mag, wrong follower/spring.

Good afternoon fine people of the internets. Had an issue I wasn't sure about come up this weekend. Background, I'm not an RO, but happy to play one when needed. I'm pretty new to the sport, been about 18 months. This happened at a USPSA match. I'm 2nd RO on the score pad. Timer goes off, competitor draws and has an AD on his way to a target. Both the Timer RO and I determined in the moment that it was farther than 10ft from himself and the RO and did not stop the competitor. After he was done, Timer RO asks me to confirm I felt it was 10ft, and I said yes. Competitor said it actually happened with the trigger finger of his weak hand and didn't know how that happened. Sounds like he just got a super funky grip off the draw to freestyle. The place i wasn't sure, was that I didn't feel like he was aimed at a target when he discharged. I mentioned that and he said he was, and there was a target 10ft in front of where he discharged. I don't feel like 10.4.1 applies which has the part about firing at a target as the ground is not considered an unsafe direction. Just to reiterate, we did not stop the competitor nor DQ after the fact. I think we did the right thing by my reading but just wanted to make sure. Thanks!

Good afternoon fine CZenos people. Having a bit of an issue with what I believe are the mags for my shadow 2. All mags are the factory chrome Metgar. Half have the CZC +5 baseplates and half have the Hennining +5. All have Grams springs and followers. I only load to 22 (including in practice) unless the stage requires that I load to 23. Gun has probably 15k rds, is an OR model with full Cajun pro kit. I recently disassembled every piece (except sear cage,) and cleaned. It's the only time I've done that. I do a field strip/clean about every 1,000 rds and lube about every 500. This really only happens when I'm shooting a match. I will have a failure to feed issue towards the end of the stage / end of the magazine. I have noticed when I am loading my mags, there is sometimes resistance where I don't feel like there should be. And when I download them after a match, they are way too slow to come out of the mag. Definitely sticking somewhere. About 1,000rds (1,000 rds total on about 8 mags) I took the magazines apart and cleaned them using Hoppe's 9. After I did that, they ran smoothly again until this weekend when they started this same behavior. I'm using a pretty clean round, CCI primers, N320, 147FP Blues. Do the springs wear out? Or do the followers start to have issues? The mags have a combined probably 20,000 rds on them. Please let me know any thoughts. Thanks!

Also, I called and spoke with a tech at Hornady. They are sending me a spring. He said he uses powder graphite as a lubricant on his drum which does the trick.

I took it apart and cleaned it with a green scour pad dry. Put a bit of Hornady Dry lube on a paper towel and wiped down the inside surfaces. Fixed the problem. If I have to do this even every 3,000 rounds, it's going out the window... Basement is not the driest. I have a humidifier running all the time. That could have something to do with it.

Having a bit of trouble with my powder drop on my Hornady LNL AP. Using it with the PTX, and VV N320 powder to load 9mm. This same thing happened a few thousand rounds ago. I disassembled it, cleaned, used a bit of one shot dry lube, reassembled and it was good to go. But I would prefer that I didn't have to take it apart every 2000 rounds / 2 months. Any advice? Ideas on what is going on? Thanks!

Good evening my forum brothers and sisters. Hoping you might be able to help me with an issue I'm having with my Black Mamba 6". Shooting CCI MInimag, 40gr, 1235fps, Target RN. This happens more than anything else on my first string of fire. The trigger doesn't seem to reset. The gun ejects fine, and chambers a new round fine, but the trigger is dead. It will happen a few times and then it will be fine. Tonight, it was fine for the first 10 strings and then it started to happen. It is just occassional and not consistent. I typically clean and lube every 3-400ish rounds with Wilson Ultra Oil in summer and Wilson Ultra Oil Lite in the fall and winter. No modifications except to the mags which have TK followers, green springs, replacement buttons and a mix of TK and Volquartsen basepads. Gun has probably 2k rounds on it and has been in service for 6 months. Other than the MiniMags, I also run the Remington Golden bullet bulk packs in practice. I can't think of any other info that might be needed for diagnosis. Any ideas what is going on? THanks!

I have never seen anyone at a match actively draw a .22 from the holster, but I can for sure imagine it. We have had people draw from concealment at matches for practice. If ammo got really bad, I could see some competitors start doing this for practice. Thank you for the example George.

Just to confirm, now from the shooters end. As an RFPO and RFPI shooter, at no time do I ever need to engage the safety, whether bagged or holstered.

A couple questions. I'm not an RO, but assume that responsibility a lot at my local matches and want to make sure I'm doing things right, and get better at doing it altogether. Planning on doing an RO course next year. 1.Seems like from the rule book, the commands after Unload, show clear are the same for self loading pistols even if it is rimfire. But then it says that hammers do not have to be dropped if it's rimfire (8.3.8.2). -So, do I issue the command and it's just ignored based on what the competitor wants to do? -Does the competitor need to put the safety on if they are not dropping the hammer? -Is this any different if they are bagging vs. holstering? -If they are bagging, do I still issue the 'holster' command for consistency? 2.Per rule 8.3.2: For each subsequent string after the first, the Range Officer shall proceed from this command, once the competitor has assumed the start position. I understand this to mean that I should issue an 'Are you ready?' at the beginning of each string. Correct?

I came in 2nd out of 3.

So I decided to shoot SS - Major at a local match this weekend. I've been shooting USPSA for a year, B class, been shooting CO for the past 8 months. Any last minute pointers? I believe I should for sure reload every time I move a position. What else is sound advice? Like CO, I assume I should also avoid shooting to slide lock, but with only 8 rounds guessing that is easier said than done. I plan to get there plenty early to work on stage planning. I'm expecting adding the memorization of the reloads to be a challenge. Thanks!

I'm shocked at how loud that is. Audio in video can be deceiving though.

I see a Front Sight and a Front Sight 2 but not Front Sight Forward. His description doesn't completely match either. Here is the description from the author. Perhaps someone knows him and can ask directly? Not that this topic is even relevant any more! 'The first drill was a front sight forward configuration at 10 yards' distance with one yard between the targets. When I first looked at the number just now it showed 31. after clicking on View all it now shows 27. I started shooting 10 months ago, including an Ohio winter. I would say other than the months where there aren't any matches I'm averaging 4.25/month.

Yep. For me coated is consistently 0.3gr less powder than plated for the same PF.

I don't know OAL off hand. It would be short since it's a CZ. I chronoed from 10 ft. You also mentioned that you are looking for 125. I would consider doing something closer to 130pf if you plan to go to any matches that chrono. This will help insure that your rounds pass their chrono and you aren't bumped out of competing for score. Different chronos are calibrated differently and the conditions when you chrono might be drastically different from the day, time and location that you chronoed from.

3.0gr. of N320 makes 130PF in my Shadow 2 with that bullet. In fact 3.0 N320 pretty much makes 130pf with any coated 147gr bullet I have. 3.3gr for plated.
